The construction of 676 North Michigan Avenue marked the beginning of a decade-long building cycle on Michigan Avenue, which also included 900 North Michigan Avenue, 700 North Michigan Avenue and 600 North Michigan Avenue.
The Shops at North Bridge opens a nine-block, mixed-use development including a four-level upscale shopping center anchored by the United States’ top performing Nordstrom.
Ground is broken on the construction of The Lancaster, the first of the new wave of buildings in Lakeshore East (a 3,600-unit master planned community with 1,682 hotel rooms).
At a cost of $475 million, the award winning Millennium park opens and substantially increases the number of visitors and shoppers to the southern portion of North Michigan Avenue, attracting over 5 million visitors annually.
Hundreds of millions of dollars are currently being invested in multi-family, hotel, public park, and multi-level retail developments south of the Chicago River, transforming the area into a true live/work/play environment.
