or

The State Convention of Baptists in Ohio (SCBO) is excited about the response to a powerful initiative called the Next Factor. It represents a balanced approach to combining quality resources, training, personnel, and relational opportunities: all of which will allow the SCBO Staff to collaborate with churches like never before.

The purpose of the Next Factor initiative is to strengthen churches throughout Ohio in the following areas:

Presenting ChristHelping to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ known and understood by all people.

Promoting GrowthJoining with local congregations to develop more and better disciples of Jesus.

Planting ChurchesSupporting the spiritual and practical needs of new churches seeking to impact a community for Christ.

This initiative seeks to ignite a spark of excitement and passion within each church of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio so they may discover their Next Factor - a single, purposeful step that the church can make in obeying the Great Commission.

Visit www.scbo.org/nextfactor for all the details.

Your contribution to the Cooperative Program allows thousands of people in Ohio to receive blessings from the One True Living God. Ohio Baptist Centers, Church and Community Ministries, Collegiate Ministries on Ohio Campuses, and church starters and many decisions for Christ in Vacation Bible School, all these and more are possible because you and your church have decided to participate in the Cooperative Program. Ministers of education, you are invited to attend the BETA conference. LifeWay provides this gathering as a basic training course for Christian educators.. For three days, we simply focus on foundational principles and best practices of church education ministry. At the conclusion of a recent BETA, participants were asked what they enjoyed the most. Many responded that it is great to be in a room with people who “speak the same language.” They’re not talking about speaking English, Spanish or other languages, but instead referred to people who understood the work of the minister of education.

Church Planting is one of the most effective ways of reaching the greatest number of people for Christ in a given geographical area! The Church Planting Resource Group will strive to start various types of churches in the cities, suburbs, and rural areas to reach various types of people groups. We are also here to minister to church planters and their wives. ponsoringChurch Initiative

What does it take to be a sponsoring church?

A desire to share the Word of God:“I came to understand, it’s not how many people who hear my voice on Sunday, it’s how many people hear His voice” ~ Sponsoring church pastor

A willingness to invest in the life and family of a church planter:“I need someone I can call; it gets lonely planting a church. I want someone to bounce ideas off of, a sounding board, someone willing to share their experience with me.” ~ Church Planter

“It is so special when the sponsoring church pastor’s wife comes occasionally and takes my wife to lunch. Three or four times a year our sponsoring church provides childcare and money for a date night.” ~ Church Planter

A kingdom spirit to give sacrificially their people, resources, and energy for those who have not yet come.“Our church is looking more and more like the New Testament norm, there is a sense of excitement and joy. We are working together for the gospel. Birthing something new is contagious.” ~ Sponsoring Church Member

Will you pray about becoming a sponsoring church?

Sponsoring Church Initiative – 25% of Mission Ohio Churches significantly involved in church planting by 2020. (Currently 12% of SCBO churches are involved in church planting… 4% SBC nationally)

The Church Services Resource Group provides business support to those who lead our state, associational and local ministries. This support encompasses budgets and finances, insurances, ministry vehicles, conference logistics, printing, and office facilities. By handling these details of life and ministry, others are freed to pursue the Great Commission unobstructed.

In addition, Church Services receives and disburses Cooperative Program mission funds, maintains your camp grounds at Seneca Lake, assists pastors and staff with tax seminars, and aids churches with 501c3 status.

As the Evangelism Resource Group of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio, we strive individually and collectively to engage Christ followers and churches in the Great Commission. To this end, we focus our time, energy, and resources on the following purposes: Sharing the gospel personally, and both equipping and mobilizing others to do the same. Starting groups, ministries, and churches that multiply Christ followers and ministries. Strengthening leaders and their churches to become more faithful in obeying the Great Commission. Synergizing individuals and groups to work more collectively and effectively at seeing the Great Commission fulfilled. Sending gospel proclaiming believers on missions throughout Ohio, the United States, and to the uttermost parts of the world.

The Southern Baptist Convention will hold its annual meeting in Columbus on June 16-17, 2015. On Saturday June 13, 2015,  State Convention of Baptists in Ohio & Beautiful Feet (see page 40), in conjunction with the North American Mission Board and the Metro Columbus Baptist Association, will host Crossover Columbus.

This one day community outreach initiative is a great opportunity for believers to do good deeds, to demonstrate God’s love, and to do practical acts of service throughout the City of Columbus and in its surrounding neighborhoods. The goal is to mobilize a substantial number of volunteers to impact Central Ohio with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Crossover Columbus Leadership Team is currently in the process of formu-lating our strategy and securing the many projects that will take place during the day.

Would you consider coming to Central Ohio on June 13, 2015 and participat-ing in Crossover Columbus? Would you pray for the area to be significantly impacted with the gospel and for many souls to be won to Christ? Would you pray for pastors to be encouraged and churches to be strengthened? If so, please contact us:

GPS IS A TWO-PART PROCESS.1. First, churches intentionally align their evangelism ministry according to the biblical components of:

• Praying- Every church praying for every lost person

• Equipping- Equipping every believer to share as a trained witness

• Sowing- Every lost person receiving a witness• Harvesting- Every church harvesting and cel-

ebrating every salvation response

2. Second, churches participate in bi-annual evan-gelism campaigns (even-numbered years) that will result in Every Believer Sharing and Every Person Hearing by 2020.

The campaign for 2015 is called Serving Across North America and in-volves planning and im-plementing coordinated, serving, evangelistic events during the month of March and beyond. The theme for 2015 is Purpose. Find It Here. Churches are encouraged to direct people to findithere.com for spiritual help. The GPS manual (available online) will guide you in forming a simple, strategic plan for implementing a serving, evangelistic event in your community. The needs of each community are unique, and you know best the needs of your community. Adapt the informa-tion provided to suit your unique community. Ideas and resources are available on the GPS website at GPS2020.net. These resources are offered free of charge through the partnership between the North American Mission Board and your state convention and the funds provided through the Cooperative Program. Also, know that your Acts 1:8 partners (your association, your state convention, and the North American Mission Board) are ready to assist you in training and consultation as you have need.

The vision of the God’s Plan for Sharing (GPS) initiative is to fulfill the Great Commission in North America by Every Believer Sharing. Ever Person Hear-ing by 2020. God is working in the hearts of those who know Him and those who have yet to know Him.
