Hola,I believe I felt the winds ofMarch today, not that Imtrying to hurry springalong or anything. Yes Iam. The market is heat-

ing up and I think itsgoing to be a busy year.If you are thinking aboutdownsizing or lookingfor a starter home for anupcoming college graduate, give me a call.Have a beautiful month,

    Cindy

Looking to spruce up your home, but dont

know where to start? From molding to choice of color, theres a lot to

consider before dipping your brush in the paint.Does a room really look smaller with a darkercolor on the walls? Should your ceilings be

white? Do you want to add an accent wall? Here are some tips from Lowes on how to

    get started:

Size up your room. How you use color dependson where you use color. Each room has its own

unique elements and function. First think aboutthe structure of the room. Consider its shape and

size. A lighter color can make a small room feelmore spacious, while a darker color can help animmense room seem cozier.

Take into account any architectural details, such as molding, trim, columns, and brackets.

What's attractive and what's not? Varied intensitiesand hues can complement architecture, furnishings, and art. Remember, paint can accentuate a room's

    features or hide them.

Your choice of color also depends largely onfunction. Will the main purpose of the room beeating, sleeping, working, entertaining, or something else entirely? A warm hue in the living room

gives a more comfortable and inviting atmospherefor guests than a cooler color.Selecting Interior Paint

Before choosing your paint, think about whereyour room fits into the scheme of things. Where

is it situated in relation to other rooms? Is it ahigh or lowtraffic area? Flat paint, for instance,is best suited for ceilings, walls, surface imper

fections, and anywhere else that a muted low

    reflecting surface is desired.

Because it takes more effort to remove stains

from this type of paint, a flat finish is best suitfor the lowtraffic areas of your home.

Government Support of Housing Finance tobe Gradually Eliminated Over Next Five toSeven Years By Alan J. Heavens In a move that had been widely anticipated, the Obama administration said last

week that it wants to get the government out of the mortgage business by windingdown operations at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over the next five to seven years.

Fundamental reform is the aim, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said in

announcing the plan to not only shrink the government footprint in housing,

but also strengthen consumer protection and preserve access to affordable

housing for people who need it.

    The plan calls for:

Withdrawing government support of housing finance by gradually eliminating

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which would bring private capital back into the

market. The government now guarantees nine of every 10 home loans, which

Geithner says has discouraged private capitals return.

Leveling the playing field for private capital by gradually making it more

costly to get a loan at Fannie and Freddie.Reducing conforming loan limitsthe maximum size of loans the two govern

mentsponsored enterprises (GSEs) can guaranteeafter temporarily increas

ing them, as scheduled, on Oct. 1. Geithner said the administration would work

with Congress to make other changes in the future.

Sprinkle on these spicy ways to stayhealthy Pricilla TottenGinger and garlic are known to have medicinal properties, but how about lemongrass, nutmeg and thyme? Most Americans

"don't take full advantage of the wonderful world of

spices," writes Bharat B. Aggarwal, author ofHealing

Spices. He touts 50 spices that may help prevent or heal

    certain conditions or diseases:

    Bay leaf.

This small dried leaf, when it's cooked, releases its array

of antioxidants. It's a natural medicine for cancer,

art hri tis, ulcers, wounds and mosquito bites. "Look for

leaves that are whole, uniform in size and color, and free

of stems and bark," Aggarwal says. "The darker the color

and the larger the leaves, the better."Cumin.

In a study from India, cumin was found to be just as effective

as an antidiabetes drug in controlling diabetes in lab rats.

It also has been shown to protect bones and help prevent

food poisoning. Aggarwal recommends buying cumin as

    whole seeds rather than ground.

    Horseradish.

This spice was used as a medicine before it was used as a

food. It can clear congestion, reduce inflammation,

fight viruses and bacteria, and relax muscles. Aggarwal

recommends buying it prepared and preserved in vinegar:

"Itwon't give you the same zing of fresh horseradish.

ILOVE LOUISVILLE ORIGINALS and was glad to find this Irish Soda Bread recipe

from this wonderful restaurant on their website. I like to add raisins, currants or

dried cherries to my bread along with a little brown sugar. Cook some corned

beef in a crock pot-toss in the cabbage for the last hour and your have a

    wonderful celebration meal.

Try this recipe from Michael & Siobhan Reidy from The Irish Rover

BROWN SODA BREAD1 cup white flour

2 cups whole wheat flour, preferably coarse

    tsp salt1 tsp baking soda

    1 T. butter

    1 + cups of buttermilk

Preheat oven to 450.Stir dry ingredients together with a fork. Cut butter into

dry mix. Make a well in the center and pour in buttermilk. Stir to mix well, making

a slightly sticky dough. Turn out onto floured surface. Working the dough as

little as possible, pat it into a round loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet and

bake for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 375 and continue baking for 3040 minutes.

Bread is done if tapping the bottom of the loaf produces a hollow sound. A

spoonful of brown sugar may also be added to the dry ingredients for a sweeter

    loaf. Cook Time: 45 Min

St. Patrick's Day March 17thThe CelebrationCorned beef and cabbage is a traditional St. Patrick's Day dish. In 2007, roughly

41.5 billion pounds of U.S. beef and 2.6 billion pounds of U.S. cabbage were

sold. Many St. Patrick's Day celebrants enjoyed corned beef from Texas, which

produced 6.8 billion pounds of beef, and cabbage from California and New

York, which produced 581 and 580 million pounds, respectively.

Irish soda bread gets its name and distinctive character from the use of baking

soda rather than yeast as a leavening agent.

Lime green chrysanthemums are often requested for St. Patrick's Day parades

    and celebrations.

The ParadeThe first St. Patrick's Day parade took place in the United States on March 17,

1762, when Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through NewYork City. More than 100 St. Patrick's Day parades are held across the United

States. New York City and Boston are home to the largest celebrations.

At the annual New York City St. Patrick's Day parade, participants march up 5th

Avenue from 44th Street to 86th Street. More than 150,000 people take part in

the event, which does not allow automobiles or floats.

Places to Spend the DayThere are four places in the United States named after the shamrock, the floral

emblem of Ireland: Mount GayShamrock, WV; Shamrock, TX; Shamrock Lakes,

    IN; and Shamrock, OK.

Nine U.S. towns share the name of Ireland's capital, Dublin. With 39,328

residents in 2005, Dublin, CA, is the most populous, followed by Dublin, OH.
