UPCOMING

EVENTS

This week the premier announced that Phase 4 restrictions would remain in place until

Saturday 24 October. Unfortunately, this means that events such as Open Evening and

the Faction Athletics Carnival will not proceed in the usual way. At this stage, we are

discussing how we can make these events work within the COVID restrictions. Detailed

information will be provided to families as decisions are made. The safety, health and

wellbeing of all members of our school community must be a priority.

Family Law Issues in Schools

The law presumes that parents have joint parental responsibility, irrespective of the child’s

place of residence. Consequently, each parent is entitled to:

Contact the child should he/she seek to do so while the child is attending school

(via administration as per visitors’ policy) to the extent it does not impact on the

normal operations of the school;

Discuss the child’s academic progress with class teachers, Learning Support

Coordinators, Deputy Principals or the school Principal;

Attend school functions or attend as a volunteer; and have access to school based

information about the child.

Any variation to this can only occur when the school is provided with a copy of a current

Family Court Order, parenting plans registered with the Family Court, and/or a restraining

order. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that the school is provided with

these documents and any subsequent variations to these.

Year 6 Camp

It was wonderful to listen to the Year 6

students excitedly recounting stories of

their camp adventure. Thank you so much

to the staff that attended the camp and

made it such an ORPSome experience for

the students. A huge thank you to Mrs

Northey for massive amount of work she

put in behind the scenes in organising the

camp and contributing to the fund raising

efforts. Special mention to our wonderful

P&C for their generous financial support.

Without them the camp would not have

been able to go ahead in 2020.

YEAR 6 CAMP

Our Year 6 students had a sensational time at camp. The location and weather was ideal. Following is some student’s stories about their time at camp.

Every activity was fun

and challenging. Lots

of people overcame

their fears and

challenged

themselves. The

instructors pushed

everyone to their

limits. Every person at

camp at least

overcame one fear.

We think every person had fun and would do it again

if they had the opportunity. Denham and Kalel, Rm

22.

My favourite thing at camp was probably the big fox

because you could see a lot of the view. It was very

high and I like heights. I liked camp because it was

way better than school. By Tyson, Rm 24.

Page 3: The Principal’s Pen……….. · Family Court Order, parenting plans registered with the Family Court, and/or a restraining order. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure

My experience at camp was amazing because I got to

spend time with my friends and time away from my

family. Some of my friends weren’t in my dorm or in

my activity group. My funniest activity was the big

fox, rock climbing and the abseiling. My scariest

thing at camp was the pamper pole. The activities at

camp were nice, cool, scary, fun and exciting. Hazel,

Rm 23.

Forest Recreation Camp was amazing! I got to make

new friends, learn about nature and do some

activities you were probably not planning to do!

Overall camp was an amazing journey. Chloe, Rm 24.

PBS F ACTION REWARD NEWS

This term our PBS focus value is Responsibility.

Teachers and our school leaders have already been

on the lookout for students being responsible and

demonstrating our other values Kindness, Resilience

and Respect.

It is important for children to grow up taking

responsibility for their actions. It is our job as adults

to help children be accountable for their actions and

interactions with others. They should think about

what might happen or how they might make others

feel before they act or speak.

The gold slips tallies have already been collected by

the Faction Captions for up to Week 3. The tallies are

neck and neck so far with Gold faction in the lead!

BE YOU ACTION TEAM NEWS

Thank you to all ORPS Families and the Year 4-6

Students for completing the Be You Surveys at the

end of last term. Our Be You Action Team are very

encouraged by the results so far and would like to

celebrate the top four areas of strength identified

from the Be You Student Survey 2020:

I believe both my teacher and my family want

me to be the best I can be.

My teacher encourages me to treat others

with respect.

My teacher encourages me to take on new

challenges.

I know what a helpful/positive friend looks

like, and how to be a helpful/positive friend to

others.

to Kelly McCarron for taking on this roll. Kelly's job is

to co-ordinate our fundraising efforts throughout the

year. If you are able to help with any fundraising

please let Kelly know, the more help the easier the

job will be.

The Father's Day stall this year unfortunately won't

be going ahead as this takes a couple of months to

organise and we have only just filled the fundraising

position.

Bunnings Halls Head.

the money be put in a sealed envelope along with the

number of tickets purchased. All payments need to

be completed by Monday 31 August.

The raffle will be drawn on the 4 September 2020.

UNIFORM FREE DAY

YEAR 6 CAMP

Year 6 students are still selling Freddo's on Friday.

these funds go directly to helping out with the cost of

camp. This year along with the P&C help $1900 was

raised to help and then an additional $1000 was

donated by the P&C. We hope you all had fun.

We would like to say a big thank you to

Dirt'n'Boondies. They generously donate to the P&C

which aids in helping our fundraising. Please help

support Dirt'n'Boondies as they have us. Your

donation is greatly appreciated.

We are still looking for Parents/Careers to be a part

of the P&C. It is very rewarding helping raise funds to

help support the students. If you are interested
