Personnel Committee November 19, 2016
In our meeting on November 15, the following action was approved:
1. To extend the part-time agreement with Forbes Baker until March 31, 2017. Forbes retired in 2016 and was to continue his position as Director of Finance on a part time basis until the end of 2016, at which time the position would be reevaluated. That evaluation has been done which resulted in the three month extension.
In our report in the meeting packet about the change with the Director of Finance position, we neglected to mention that both Carrie Walker and Sharon Darden have taken on additional responsibilities as well as Sandra Lopez in the day-to-day financial operations of the presbytery.
Center Operations Committee November 19, 2016
Chair-Brian Long
Members-Gary Akin, Frans Pike
The committee this year determined not to immediately complete the light fixture change out this year,
choosing instead to change the fixtures on an as need basis.
The committee has received an energy audit. It is being reviewed and procedures are being acted upon
to save money.
The committee has recommended that the Presbytery operations be moved as completely as possible to
the second floor, allowing the first floor to be rented out.
This concludes the report.

Committee on Representation (COR)
Report to the Presbytery of New Covenant
2016
The work of the Committee on Representation is to encourage and broaden participation
in the leadership of the presbytery so that voices which have been missing are invited to
shape the future of our work together.
Part of that work involves compiling basic demographic information from those who are
serving on the presbytery's committees. COR is currently rebuilding that
information. Computer mishaps are no fun. We will be contacting those already serving
on presbytery committees soon to fill in the blanks we are missing. This demographic
information goes no further than the COR and is only used in the aggregate to help with
the second part of our charge.
Each month, when the Nominating Committee meets, members of COR are present to
apprise the Nominating Committee of potential areas for enrichment. We invite
consideration of people from various parts of the presbytery, various racial/ethnic
backgrounds, age groups, previous service to the presbytery, women and men, church
size, and Ruling Elders and Teaching Elders. Of course, these are not the only
considerations that the Nominating Committee uses, for it is their task to also discern
which candidates have the gifts and skills that each committee needs.
Another task of the COR is to help build the candidate pool for the Nominating
Committee. This is an area that truly needs your assistance. If you know someone in
your congregation who would be an asset in the work of the presbytery or you yourself
would like to serve at the presbytery level, please contact someone on either the COR or
the Nominating Committee. The presbytery website has a list of committee descriptions,
time involvement needed, and meeting times in the Filing Cabinet under Committee
Descriptions.
For all who serve the Presbytery of New Covenant, we give thanks. For all who have
shared their wisdom in the past, we give thanks. For all whom God calls to serve in the
future, we lift our voices in joyous praise, looking forward to the ways Christ is at work
through his gifted peoples.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Carol Tompkins, Moderator ([email protected])

PERU PARTNERSHIP Dear Members and Friends of New Covenant Presbytery,
Many within our presbytery have close ministry partnerships in Peru. During the month of November, we are privileged to be visited by Peru mission coworkers Sara Armstrong and Rusty Edmonson, who will be in the Houston area visiting churches that prayerfully and financially support them in their amazing work.
In an effort to begin planning a presbytery-wide mission trip to Peru, there will be a gathering following the November 19th presbytery meeting at Pasadena Presbyterian Church in Room 11. Rusty and Sara will meet with anyone who might be interested in participating in a mission trip to Peru next summer. There are teams organizing to: provide clean water, train leaders, work on constructing a seminary in the high jungle, participate in medical mission, teach Vacation Bible School and more.
Please spread the word about this exciting opportunity! Sara and Rusty are a gift to the PC(USA) and to the church universal and have much knowledge to share! We hope you and members of your congregations will prayerfully consider attending this meeting to learn how you can participate! Please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Alex Lee-Cornell Rev. Kristi Blankman Pastor, St. Stephen Pres. Assoc. Pastor, Spring Branch Pres.
