Our competitive program is a full year commitment from June 2016 to May 2017. We are a competitive team that travels throughout the region to compete against other top all-star gyms that are in the same age group & skill level. Elite All-stars is a highly structured environment & is guided by USASF, the U.S. All Star Federation. This is the governing body of cheerleading. We

also perform around the Cedar City area.

Breakdown:Levels: For all-star competitive teams there is a level grid that must be followed, set by USASF.Ages: These ages are determined by birthday as of August 31, 2016. Also set by USASF.

Tiny: Ages 4-6 (will practice 1 hour & 15 minutes a week)Mini: Ages 8 & under (will practice 2 hours a week / $50 per month)Youth: Ages 11 & under (will practice 2.5 hours a week / $60 per month)Junior: Ages 14 & under (will practice 4 hours a week / $90 per month)Senior: Ages 10-18 (will practice 4 hours a week / $90 per month)

Team PlacementsTeam placements are meant to be a stress-free environment that will allow the athletes to

perform their best, make new friends, & develop personal relationships with coaches. Athletes will demonstrate jumps, motions, & tumbling. Athletes will be evaluated on the USASF guidelines on the first page. Once you are placed on a team, you are committed to the team for the ENTIRE season. Please note that team placement is never final, if the staff sees it fit to move an athlete among teams/levels throughout the season, it is for the benefit of the athlete.Team placement: As coaches, we try to evaluate each athlete individually as best we can & place them on a team that is the correct level. Some athletes may be stronger than others or at a different level in tumbling, but age, pyramids, stunts, motions, & jumps are large factors in team placements as well. Every athlete is on a specific team for a reason. On May 25th you will receive a ‘Welcome’ email with your practice schedule, time, & any additional need-to-know information.

Competitions: Any out-of-state & far competitions we ask that the cheerleaders be there the

night before. If you are staying at a family members, friends, or other arrangements are made, that is fine. Please be aware of the dates and arrange hotels well in advance.

Final competition schedules will be emailed the Thursday before competition. This final schedule will include athlete check-in time, performance time, competition venue, spectator fees, & award times. Athletes are expected to come promptly at the scheduled time & be competition ready. All items must be left with parents when the athlete gets to the competition. Please schedule your personal events around competition; you do not dictate which competition your child competes at.

Some Parent information:

Team Rep: we would love to have a team rep (or team mom)! A team rep is a wonderful cheer mom/dad/guardian that will volunteer to help with competitions, team bonding activities, & community events. Please see Jeanine or any coaches & ask for details if you would like to volunteer for these positions.

If there is a parent that has a creative touch, we would love to hear your ideas about bedazzling, decals, & other items. All items must be approved by Jeanine before production or selling of any item with the Elite name on it.Parental Support: Parents, your attitude affects the athletes. Please always have a positive attitude & know that we are doing all that we can & what is best for your athlete in the world of cheerleading. Also, contact Jeanine if you are interested in fundraising.

Practice Policies: All athletes must be in attendance once mandatory practices start, August 1st, 2016. We cannot have missing practices once mandatory practices begin. If you would like to

remain a part of the competitive program, this is one of the rules that cannot be broken.

Athletes must notify a coach at least ONE WEEK in advance if a practice will be missed. Athletes may NOT miss any practice within two weeks of a performance or competition,

if this happens, coaches reserve the right to pull a performance/competition for the team without a refund to any parents. To prevent not giving refunds, coaches will bring in alternates to a missing athletes spot.

We will not be rescheduling practices, if your athlete is gone any time between August 1st, & May 2017; coaches reserve the right to make changes to their spot, including bringing in an alternate if needed.

If an extra practice is scheduled it is because the staff deem it necessary for the team’s success.

Any unexcused absence will result in 20 minutes of conditioning for athlete. Excused absences include family emergency, mandatory school functions that a grade

depends on, & extreme illness (vomiting, fever). If an athlete is injured they must still come to practice & watch. Any extracurricular activities are NOT acceptable reasons.

If an athlete is injured, they MUST present a DR note to a coach & come to practice. We require that there are no conflicting vacations during the competition season. Withholding your child from practice cannot be used as punishment/discipline. No jewelry, piercings- this is a safety issue & is not negotiable. No un-natural hair color, nails must be trimmed. When practices & competitions begin, the athlete must be ready. If an athlete is late

they will have 20 minutes of conditioning. No food, gum, or drinks other than water are allowed in the gym. Please only wear, purple, black, white, or grey to practice. Parents, please do not enter the gym during practice. For safety reasons, we cannot

have this. It is a small facility & cannot risk injury to athletes. However, if asked prior, staff may allow you to watch the last 15 minutes. Coaches reserve the right to close practice.

If an athlete threatens to quit, not come back, does not want to practice, they will be asked to leave the team immediately. Refunds will not be granted.

If an athlete refuses or cannot throw a skill when asked by a coach that they do have, they may be asked to move teams within the program until they are comfortable doing the required skill & coaches see fit.

Remember: because an athlete’s throws a skill & lands it does NOT classify that as an athlete ‘having’ the skill. A skill must be thrown, landed every time it is asked to be thrown, & must have near perfect technique.

Page 5: The Point Dance - Location: · Web viewCheerleading is an incredible & fun sport for athletes to grow & make new friends. Athletes learn the importance of discipline, determination,

If an athlete is removed or quit they are ineligible for the program the following year. Always demonstrate a positive attitude!Summer practice policies-

If you are in town, YOU MUST BE AT PRACTICE. We understand that summer is for fun, vacations, & family time. Coaches must know when you will be gone from practice at least one week before you will be gone. Unless prior arrangements are made with coaches, excessive absences may result in different team placement.

Other Program policies: If you have any concerns, please bring it up with Jeanine or coaching staff directly!

There is always open communication between staff, athletes, & parents. Everything can be talked to with parents & coaches in a professional, personal

manner. Coaches will not tolerate rude unruly parents or athletes. Any un-sportsman like behavior or comments will result in disciplinary action. All team members are required to be on EFT & fees must be paid on time to compete. Financial responsibility falls upon the person that signs the commitment form. Financial commitment begins May 24th 2016 & continues through May 2017. There will be a $300.00 quitting fee once members discontinue. You will be

responsible for the $300.00 quitting fee, as well as the tuition monthly payments. You will be responsible for this fee if you discontinue anytime between May 24 th 2016 & May 2017.

Remember: although competitions end in April, athletes cannot discontinue, we still perform around Cedar City up until the middle of May. Mid-May is when our official season ends & the athlete is required to be at practice & is still responsible financially, & personally for this set season.

Elite is not responsible for stolen items. There is no gossip about each other, other teams, or our staff, in or outside of our

gym. You are here to represent not only yourself but our program as well. Coaches DO NOT guarantee athlete position (base, flyer), team level placement, or

position in a routine formation. We will place athletes to make the strongest routine. Attitude is everything; no negativity will be tolerated, from parents, coaches, or

athletes! We want our program to be full of positivity & encouragement. We also want to make sure the athletes can trust their coaches & feel uplifted when at practice.

Athletes must stay the entire time coaches’ request at competition, practice & performances.

Team members will maintain high examples of behavior. Your child can be removed from a routine/team based upon the following but not

limited to: attitude, performance, attendance, & finances. Social Media: We have a social media policy that all pictures or videos of the athletes

in Elite clothing, in the gym, or at competition must be approved by Kristin or Mallory. We would love for the program to stay connected, please visit the Facebook page The Point Dance Studio & Elite All-Star Cheer.

Athletes may NOT be involved with risky activities that may cause injury during competition season (December-May) NO SKI TRIPS!

Our staff makes all practice, performance, & competition decisions. Please check the calendar & website regularly to stay up to date. We send out

monthly notices if anything is coming up that month.
