“The Peak” adventure tours was the brainchild of your host Pichai in 1999 as a means of satisfying and sharing his love of outdoor adventure.

“Our greatest pride now and always, is: ”our team“ made up of the finest &

most experienced adventurers in the north. The Efforts of “Our team” are to some extent self-serving: We are compelled to place Chiangmai as the hub of outdoor adventure for

all of South east asia. This goal can only be achieved thru customer satisfaction, which makes

“You an important member of our Team”The most important member of “our team” is the village and the villagers.

“The Peak” as a company has no business but sharing the natural beauty and excitment provided by nature and it’s “caretaker...... the Village.”

All of our staff is hired from the local village and trained by “The Peak” . Our tour group activities are geared around generating income and intangible benefit to these “caretakers of nature.”

Beyond the direct benefit to the village, The safety and rescue training provided to individuals will benefit the village as a whole.

In each case and for each trip we endeaver to leave our sites, cleaner, safer and more pristine than prior to our arriving as an unintended reward for these efforts, we were recognized as the “Best in our field” by the “ Tourisim authorities of Thailand” (TAT) for 2008.

As the climate and river conditions are in a constant state of change, “THE PEAK” is continuously searching

for optimal sites for your adventures. In August of 2006, we “Rediscovered” This long-lost hidden tributary of the Mae

This river is narrow and free flowing with a seasonal level-3 rapid. We found this site ideal for family adven-

Not only has this Maewang white wawter adventure been a great addition to our itinerary, its provides reju-

66

PAGAYOR Years of experience in our trekking programs have taught us that to provide the “ultimate experience in adven-ture.” we must constantly update our programs to meet the changing seasonal conditions. Thailand has been blessed with a series of mountain ranges which feed our extensive system of rivers, lakes and streams. These in turn feed our lush jungles and forests which provide home to mammals, reptiles, birds and butterfly. Chiangmai’s National Conservation Forest offers a biodiversity second to none in S.E. Asia, and assures you the ultimate trekking experience. Doi intanon, Thailand highest point, feeds a series of breathtaking waterfalls which support another of our unique biosystems, all waiting to be explored and appreciated. Each of our tours, depending on duration and desti-nation are tailored to provide you with the ultimate exposure to beauty. “This is not a walk in the park.” Elephant trekking is its own unique experience. Re-gardless of what you’ve read of the elephant mahout relation-ship, until you have experienced it, you’ll never understand this mutually beneficial bond. Lumbering up and down the mountainside on our na-tional symbol: our elephant, as he dictates his path requires patience. Experience the pleasure of “sharing” a black mud bath, and the river washing events. You’ll experience not only the personal contact with the elephant, but enjoy breathtak-ing scenery of the mountainous terrain. Bamboo rafting is one of the most enjoyable events of our beautiful ecosystem. Our river system, depending on the season, are usually narrow, fast running vessels with un-touched isles and coves. Our specially designed rafts are ideal for these trips and pro-vide views of our luxuriant forests and the aquatic mammals and birdlife along with dodging the elephants at their cross-ing and bathing areas. Each raft can accommodate 2 to 4 people along with the steersmanThe degree of difficulty varies from 1 to 2 which provide both

river excitement and panoramic views. Althought bamboo rafting is restricted during the rainy season due to the velocity of current, it opens the season for white water rafting which is designed for these increased cur-rents. White water rafting is certainly one of the livelier and more exciting experiences available here. As season and rainfall dic-tate, rapid difficulty varies form 2 to 3 initially, to the 3 and 4 dif-ficulty waters. Regardless of the difficulty range, the scenery and water life experience is unsurpassed in all of S.E. Asia. Whether your agenda is trekking, riding or rafting on white-water, your safety is our greatest concern. Our “Team” are not only well trained in first aid, CPR, and the survival techniques, but we have the finest safety record in Thailand..

How often do we pick up a newspaper, magazine or turn on TV to a documentary of the abused or exploited elephant?

This problem may not be as significant as globalwarming, but it is of “grave” concern to us in a country where our elephants are not only indigenous, but are of religiousandsymbolicsignificance.

“The Peak”issignificantlyconcernedwiththecondi-tion and welfare of our “National Symbol” and would like to invite you to not only help those in need, but to firsthandinvolveyourselfinthelifeoftheelephantandits mahout.

Join us for a day, three or seven if you like, or as long as you wish. You’ll become one with the elephant and its mahout in their natural jungle environment.

No! no picnic lunches or restaurants. We bring rice portions only and live off the land. As both you and the elephant forage for food, roots, grain and plants, you’llalsofindandlearntheuseofnaturalmedicinesthe elephants know by instinct.

WILD NATURE

You’ll develop a feel for the personality of “Chang” and his contentment with human company. Chang is a social animal and will happily bond with humans, as is attested by the rela-tionship between he (or she) and their mahout.

You’lllearntofindjoyinbathing, feedingandtheplayfulanticsof the elephant, as you ride (no harness or saddle), walk, lead, or be led by your companion.

Once you’ve experienced this adventure and relationship with our Chang, you can then truly understand the outcry in the papers and TV.

Our goal is to increase awareness and understanding of this great animal and provide funding for the care medical needs of those Chang not as fortunate as those you’ve befriended.

1 We start our survival cooking school by cheat-

ing. (We don’t go to the jungle to harvest food). We

take you to a traditional Thai market (As fresh as

new harvest) and select our, (or your preference)

of greens, fruits, spices, meats, fish and curries.

“We’ve had nothing but praise for this meal”

Price includes :

Transportation, Drinking water, Material for cooking.

We then spend the day in a jungle environment (here in the city) learn-ing to cook with natural utensils, i.e. : cooking in bamboo, steaming in

banana leaves, open flame cooking as well as techniques our teaching

staff will share, but wont let us print here.

As you cook & prepare your specialties. Our staff is preparing (common

fire), vegetables & specialty seasonal delights to add to what will be our

sharing of a communal meal.
