My Brother Sir Knights, I was recently impressed and moved by the outpouring of sup-port for a veteran, Army Sergeant Bill Hufford, who turned 103 years old this past January 28. A friend of mine from the Ameri-can Legion asked if the Knights would send birthday cards to Mr. Hufford. Shortly after sending the request my brother Knights starting forwarding the request to the Philadelphia Chapter, the Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic School, and other Assemblies. Thank you for honoring a man whose service in our armed services ensured the freedoms for which we are blessed in the United States of America. Thank you to all the veterans who have served our country in war and in peace. It is a special person who serves. I have nev-er served myself but I cannot help but get emotional and also very proud when I think of what you, who have served, sacri-ficed for all of us. Please contact me if you should know of an opportunity where the Assembly could help or honor a veteran. We are the Patriot-ic degree and this is our calling. Congratulations to Sir Knight Anthony Porretta on his election as Faithful Captain of the Saint John Neumann Assembly. I am looking forward to working with SK Tony throughout the remain-der of this Fraternal Year.
,The Fourth Degree Exemplification this year is on May 28. We can use more Sir Knights so please encourage your Third De-gree Knights to continue their journey and become a Sir Knight. Feel free to contact me should you need someone from the Assembly to attend your Council meeting or a meeting of Fourth Degree candidates to discuss the requirements for the Exempli-fication.
Finally please give some prayerful consideration of a worthy person to whom we can award the St. John Neumann Medal. The person should be someone who has demonstrated exem-plary service to God, Church, and Country. Please mail any names and resumes to me at my home address by March 31.
God bless the United States of America! God Bless you!
Vivat Jesus!
Fraternally and Patriotically Yours in Christ,
Michael H. Arment, FN

St. John Neumann Medal
1— The Saint John Neumann Medal shall be awarded to a person who has demonstrated exemplary service to God, Church and Country. Only one medal may be awarded per year. The eligibility of the candidate shall be determined by a vote of the Faithful Navigator and the Past Faithful Navigators in good standing with the Assembly. A proposer may NOT submit more than one nominee. 2— The proposed candidates’ resume must be submitted in writing to the Faithful Navigator. Resumes submitted by a person on his or own her behalf shall be considered ineligible and will not be forwarded to the Admiral or Past Faithful Navigators for their consideration. The Navigator will accumulate the resumes until March 1st, at which time he will submit them to the Faithful Admiral who will in turn distribute them to the eligible Past Faithful Navigators. The Past Faithful Navigators must submit their negative or affirmative vote on the candidate(s) by April 15th of the awarding year. Regardless of the number of resumes to be acted upon, the Past Faithful can submit only one (1) affirma-tive vote, however, all votes may be negative. Ballots and resumes for all candidates for the Saint John Neumann Medal shall be mailed to the Past Faithful Navigators and Faithful Navigator, to be returned by mail to the Faithful Admiral by April 15th. A simple majority of re-turned votes shall determine the recipient. A vote shall be cast for ONE (1) or NONE (0). It shall be understood that the Faithful Navigator has a vote. In order to maintain anonymity, it shall not be required that the Bal-lot be signed. The ballots, when returned to the Faithful Admiral in an envelope marked “BALLOT”, shall remain sealed until a meeting is called, prior to the June Conclave, at which time the ballots will be reviewed jointly by the Faithful Navigator. 3—The Medal shall be presented to the selected candidate as close to the anniversary date of Saint John Neumann’s canonization date (June 19) as possible, preferably at the beginning of the June Assembly meeting. The Medal will be presented by the Faithful Navigator. In his absence, the order of succession of presiding officers will be observed.3—The Medal shall be presented to the selected candidate as close to the anniversary date of Saint John Neumann’s canonization date (June 19) as possible, preferably at the beginning of the June As-sembly meeting. PRO LIFE VERY ACTIVE IN 2017 By Stephen Jackson
On Friday, 27-Jan-17, the annual Pro-Life rally in Washing-ton, DC was held. Many thanks to the Knights of Columbus members who attend as their efforts were greatly appreci-ated.
It was the first time that a Vice President addressed the rally. Vice President Michael Pence spoke to the young and energetic crowd. Michael Pence confirmed that this ad-ministration will fulfill its campaign promises regarding the Pro-Life movement. There was the National Defund Planned Parenthood Rally held on February 11, 2017 at the Warminster Planned Parenthood facility as well as 200 hundred locations across the nation. These events were well attended. The next event is the 40 Days for Life vigil at the Comly Road Planned Parenthood facility. Every day during Lent, the Pro-Life supporters are asked to visit this facility for one hour to pray, demonstrate and council. Many local parishes have signed up for a specific day to have their parishioners be present at the facility during their sched-uled day. Below are the details. It would be a blessing to have the Saint John Neumann Knights support their local parishes in this event or have the Saint John Neumann as-sembly sponsor a day to visit this facility
