• The peregrine falcons and kestrels whirring overhead.
• Sun-bleached Positano – be sure to sit for a while and gaze like an Italian.

You’ll feel high up here on the Path of the Gods, which clings to the
cliffs above the crashing turquoise waves on the Amalfi coast. Views
soar to the horizon, rare birds whirl in a sapphire blue sky and the
walking is relatively easy – but it’s for those with a head for heights.
Stay near Amalfi at one of our comfortable Sawday’s places, tuck in
to a good breakfast then set off for the easier east to west balcony, or
snooze in Sorrento and walk the slightly harder uphill route west to
east. Hiking junkies will turn around and walk the way they’ve come
to get a completely different perspective.
Must eat Velvety soft Fior di Latte cheese on the Amalfi coast. This freshly-pulled curd cheese is from the milk of Agerola cows - tastes sublime with fresh tomatoes and basil.
Must drink A refreshing glass of cold Limoncello – Amalfi lemons have a unique sweetness from the perfect growing conditions.
Must see Must stayAh the romance! Brilliant skies, warm sun, long views and
delightful Sawday’s hideaways on the Amalfi coast. Enjoy
antique-filled hotel rooms perched on the side of a hill,
or recline on a balcony set into a cliff face.

Route 3. Path of the Gods, Amalfi
1. Journey to either Sorrento or Amalfi and rest at one
of our idyllic places for the night. Leave your luggage
and prepare for the Path of the Gods with only a
light day pack.
2. Hop on a SITA bus to Bomerano (either from Amalfi
or Sorrento) and stock up with delicious Agerola Fior
di Latte cheese and everything else you need for your
picnic lunch. Follow the road signs to the trailhead.
3. From Bomerano follow undulating paths – marked
by red and white lines - through Mediterranean bush
and zig-zagging mountains. The east to west route
runs gently downhill so is easier on the legs – and
has the best views.
4. You’ll wander through citrus groves and old
vineyards, ancient stone houses long abandoned,
and – look over the edge - (be careful!) sea caves and
grottos. Lots of birds too.
5. The path runs out at the tiny village of Nocelle –
siesta quiet, but with some small family-run eateries.
You can get a bus to colourful Positano or tackle
some very steep stone stairs. You’re right on the
coast for a rest and a gaze.
