The readings state that Jesus heals a man who was deaf and had a
speech impediment. This is a story about Jesus’ healing power,
and in it we find clues about our understanding of sacrament. We are struck by the physical means used to heal the man,
the use of spittle and touch. The Church continues to celebrate
the sacraments using physical means. In the Sacrament of
Baptism, water and oil are used to show the power of the
Holy Spirit. In the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick,
we are anointed with holy oil on the forehead and the hands.
In the Eucharist, bread and wine become the Body and
Blood of Christ. We are a sacramental people who believe that
God’s grace is given to us through these physical signs.
Jesus desires to live in each of us as crucified savior, as well as
miracle worker. Each person desires to be reverenced for who he or she is by creation, as well as for what he or she says or
does. May we ask for the grace each day to discipline
ourselves to see through power and love the reality
of our God and our brothers and sisters.

CHRIST, PRINCE OF PEACE CHOIR Music ministry provides beauty, joy, comfort,
inspiration, and musical prayer for our communal
liturgies and various parish celebrations. This is due
to the generous sharing of time and talent of our committed members. If you can carry a tune, and
want to learn, come sing with us! Choir rehearsals
will resume beginning Thursday, September 27th, at 6:30
PM in Chr ist, Pr ince of Peace Church.
RETREAT WITH MATTHEW LEONARD at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Kittanning
on Saturday, September 22 Matthew Leonard is an internationally known speaker, author, podcaster, featured speaker by Lighthouse Catholic Media, Vice President and Executive Producer at the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. The day will begin with Mass at 8:00 AM, the retreat will follow from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM in St. Mary Parish Hall in Kittanning. Presentations will include 3 great talks: Conversion Story, Pray Like a Saint, and Spiritual GPS. Free admission with a complimentary breakfast and light lunch. Recital given on our new Blessed Sacrament Cathedral
Organ. The recital will be held at Blessed Sacrament
Cathedral in Greensburg on Sunday, September 16th at
3:00 P.M. Mr. J. Christopher Pardini, the Director of Liturgy and Music for Blessed Sacrament Cathedral
will perform a recital of favorite pieces entitled “Cantata, Sonata,
Toccata”. Music will include Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s
Desiring” and Charles Marie Widor’s famous “Toccata” from the
Fifth Symphony. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet

2018 on Sunday, October 7th @ 2:00 PM.
Life Chain is a visual statement of Christian
solidarity that will take place throughout the
USA & Canada. This will be a peaceful and prayerful display of those who want to end
abortion. Please join the local Life Chain in
silent prayer on Leechburg Rd. in Lower Burrell. Parking for
those participating will be at Mogie’s Restaurant. The Knights of
Columbus will pray the rosary for life at the monument of the
unborn in St. Mary Cemetery in Lower Burrell at 1:30 PM the

MARRIAGE SPONSOR COUPLE TRAINING Training for marriage sponsor couples will be held Sept. 23rd and
Oct. 21st in the Pastoral Center in Greensburg from 1:00 PM to
4:15 PM both days. Couples only need to attend one of the
sessions. Both attendees must have "For Better and For Ever,”
which can be obtained from the parish. To register, email jmi-gnogna@dioceseofgreensburg and provide full names, email
