Dear Parents With Young Children in Church “You are doing something really, really important. I know it's not
easy. I see you with your arms overflowing, and I know you came
to church already tired. Parenting is tiring. Really tiring.”
“I hear the exasperation in your voice as you beg your child to
just sit, to be quiet as you feel everyone's eyes on you. Not every-
one is looking, but I know it feels that way.”
“I know you're wondering, is this worth it? ... I know you often
leave church more exhausted than fulfilled. But what you are
doing is so important.” - For the complete article, please visit:

PRAY FOR OUR SICK LIST UPDATE Effective Sunday, November 1
st our “Pray For Our Sick” list

months. Anyone who has been on the list prior to August 1st will
be removed unless the Parish Office is contacted to have a person
remain on the list.
In reflecting this biblical understanding of marriage, the church
expects that a sacramental marriage between a man and a woman
is permanent, a sign of the union between Christ and his people.
At the same time, for a variety of reasons, the church recognizes
that not every marriage may be a full and complete sacramental
union. Sometimes the love that was professed on the wedding day
was not a full and freely given consent to be joined together as
one. That is why after a divorce, one or the other party may seek
an annulment through the church, recognizing that the first union
was not the full and complete sign of unity that is an example of
Christ's complete love for us. If you, or someone you know, are
divorced, please be a part of Sunday worship with the community
of faith. If you've not yet spoken with a priest about your situation
call the parish office to make a confidential appointment. As the
Gospel suggests, Christ wants to embrace all his children. © Liturgical Publications Inc.
About one-third of marriages end in divorce in the United States.
The reasons for such an outcome are as varied as the individuals
involved. Few of those who do divorce experience the high-
profile questioning and scrutiny that public figures like celebrities
or politicians do when they go through a divorce. Recent events in
the past few months show that the private lives of public figures
are never really private.
The Gospel this weekend tackles the closest of human relation-
ships: the marriage of a man and a woman. In Mark's story, Jesus
quotes the Book of Genesis, pushing together verses from the first
and second chapters. In the first chapter of Genesis, humankind is
created male and female in the divine image. In the second story
of creation in chapter 2, the creation of woman is described as
coming out of man, which is why the man now clings to his wife
and the two become one.

Hurricane Sandy, rake/landscape/mulch plot, garden plot,

ARE YOU BLESSED? (Part VIII) “Blessed are those persecuted for righteousness’ sake”.
Are we faithful to God despite our difficulties in life? In spite of
being persecuted do we continue to spread the Good News of the
Gospel through our words and actions?
The last eight weeks we presented these “Are You Blessed?”
These have been the “Be Attitudes”. How we are to “Be Have” to
those around us and show them the Love of God through our
deeds.
If you missed any of the “Are You Blessed” series look them up
on our website at www.stcstmmsi.org. You’ll be glad you did!
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE A large, well built man visited the vicarage and asked to see the
vicar's wife, who was well known for her charity. As he spoke to
her he said in a voice breaking with emotion, 'I'd like to draw
your attention to the terrible plight of a poor family in this
district. The father is dead, the mother is too ill to work, and the
nine children are starving. They are about to be turned out into the
cold streets unless someone pays their $800 rent arrears.'
'How frightful!' exclaimed the vicar's wife. 'May I ask who you
are?'
The enormous visitor wiped his eyes with his handkerchief and
wailed, 'I'm their landlord.'

A BIG “THANK YOU” The family of Jim Regan would like to thank the members of
“Our Parish Family” who were instrumental in bestowing the
honor of naming the Food Pantry after him. You knew him either
by serving alongside of him in the pantry, or as part of the Faith
Formation Committee, or as a Eucharist Minister or as an usher.
Your great outpouring of love has not gone unnoticed. The mass
was a moving tribute to him. We are sure that as he watched from
heaven he could see how much he meant to each one of you and
would flash one of his smiles with his smiling Irish Eyes back at
you.
