Stewardship
A Way of Life
This Week’s Readings
The three wise men who came from the East to pay homage to the infant Jesus brought Him rich gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh as part of their worship. What gifts have I brought to this celebration to offer to the newborn Savior?
Living Stewardship
We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who develop their talents and use them to care for the poor, console the sorrowful and teach the young.

Thank You from
the Giving Tree
Committee
Many thanks to all those who helped to make the 2017 Giving Tree so successful. It is truly a team effort made possible by so many of our parishioners! Whether you helped in the preparation of the ornaments, handed the ornaments out after masses, took ornaments and purchased gifts, carted the countless bags over to the garage, sorted or delivered the gifts - we thank you on behalf of the many families who, as a result, had a brighter Christmas. In appreciation, the Giving Tree Committee thanks everyone who participated and wishes all a very happy and healthy 2018.

5 THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
Principal’s
Announcements
Happy Epiphany Day!
Father God, the star that led the Magi to the stable announced to the world that its Savior was born. Today we live in a world that is still covered by darkness, and still needing to make that journey to the stable door. May our lives reflect your light day by day, as we seek to serve where you have placed us. That we might be the means through which others can encounter Jesus Christ. Amen. Congratulations to our second graders in Mrs. Wlodarczyk’s and Mrs. Gibbons’ classes on the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation this weekend. Mrs. Phelan’s and Miss Servedio’s classes will receive First Reconciliation Saturday, January 20th. Please keep our second graders in your thoughts and prayers as they continue their faith journey in preparation for First Holy Communion. This week, we will begin using PickUp Patrol to make it easier for you to notify the school of your child’s absence and to make changes to your child’s regular after-school dismissal plans. ALL absences and plan changes should be submitted through PickUp Patrol starting this Monday, January 8th, 2018. There is a Grade 8 Graduation Parent Meeting this Tuesday evening, January 9th at 7:30 p.m. in the Carlin Dining Hall. Friday, January 12th is the Mothers’ Club Family Bingo Night at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. Please note, that St. Agnes Cathedral School follows the RVC School District’s inclement weather school closings. When RVC is closed, St. Agnes Cathedral School is closed. Notification regarding school closings will be made through School Messenger Voice, email, and text, as well as postings made on the school’s website and on News 12 Long Island. Are you an alumnus to St. Agnes? Did your parents attend St. Agnes? If so, please be on the lookout for information to participate in the St. Agnes Cathedral School’s GENERATIONS Mass on Sunday, February 4th. Did you make reservations for this year’s Dinner Dance? If not, please do so. The dance is on Saturday, February 10th and it is sure to be a fun evening celebrating the wonderful school community of St. Agnes and honoring Mr. Jeff Byrnes, Mrs. Mary Ryan Gonzalez, and the Dominican Sisters of Amityville. Wishing you a very happy, healthy New Year filled with God’s abundant blessings.

March for Life January 19, 2018
Please join the Respect Life Committee at St. Agnes for this year’s March for Life in Washington DC. This peaceful demonstration witnesses for the 55 million babies that have been murdered by abortion since 1973 and has been described the greatest human rights violation of our time. We also protest the more recent development of the drive to legalize euthanasia in our states. St Agnes Cathedral will, again, provide a bus on Friday, January 19, 2018 for pilgrims from the Rockville Centre area. This demonstration for life continues to make a difference in protecting innocent unborn children from the evil of abortion. Roe vs. Wade originally allowed abortions in the 1st trimester of pregnancy and has now been interpreted to include any time during pregnancy, up to immediately before delivery. This is not a Women’s Health issue as abortion advocates proclaim, it is an issue that defines the dignity of the human person. Please consider joining the hundreds of thousands of people going to Washington D.C. on Friday, January 19, 2018. Our bus leaves from the Cathedral at 6:00 a.m. after a 5:30 a.m. mass and blessing. We will return to the Cathedral prior to 11:00 p.m. that evening. It is important that you make a reservation on the bus by e-mailing St Agnes at [email protected] or by calling the rectory at (516) 766-0205. Your reservation must include your cell phone number and e-mail address.
