Sanctuary Lamp Intentions: For the Intentions of the Minich & Reid Family (St. Paul’s) & For the Intentions of the Pettifer Family

(Holy Spirit): There is an opportunity in both churches for the weeks’ Sanctuary Lamp to be lit for the intentions of Parishioners. (Sanctuary

Lamps are available from the back of our churches; please write the intention on the candle; payment (£3) may be put into the Piety Box.)

Second Collection. A Retiring Collection will be taken a Masses THIS weekend for the Diocesan Poor Mission Fund.

Attendance Cards. The Mass Attendance Cards for the youngsters preparing for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation

& First Holy Communion will be collected in when the children attend one of our Masses THIS weekend.

Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School Admissions—September 2020. If your child was born between 01.09.2015—

31.08.2016 you now need to register them for a Reception Class place before THIS Wednesday 15th January 2020. All

Catholic applicants must ensure that their child’s Baptismal Certificate (or a certified copy of it) is handed into the School

Office. Further details from Holy Spirit School on 01924-400820.

Sewing Bees. The Sewing Bees will be meeting THIS Wednesday 15th January in St. Paul’s Hall Committee Room

after morning Mass. New faces would be very welcome !

Soup Lunch. (a) The next Soup Lunch will be held at Holy Spirit THIS Friday 17th January after Mass. A list is now

available in the church porch for Soup-makers, the providers of bread & cakes etc. to sign. (b) Thank you to those who

assisted with & supported the Lunch held at St. Paul’s last Wednesday. This raised £200 for the Parish Hall Roof Fund.

Christmas Raffle. There are a number of unclaimed Raffle Prizes from the recent Christmas Draw. Please check your

tickets against the lists displayed in the external Noticeboards of both churches. Prizes are available from Fr. Nicholas.

St. Paul’s Altar Linen Rota. A new Rota for those who look after the Altar Linen is now available.

St. Paul’s Flower Rota. A list is available for signing by those who would like to arrange flowers over the coming year.

Holy Spirit Social Committee. There will be a meeting of the Social Committee on Tuesday 21st January at 7.00 pm in

the Parish Room to discuss ideas for social occasions during the coming year. New face & ideas welcome !

Confirmation Preparation. The next class will take place on Friday 24th January at 6.00 pm in St. Paul’s Hall.

Catholic Newspapers. A number of Catholic papers are on sale at St. Paul’s each weekend. Whilst these have

traditionally been bought on a sale or return basis the publishers are now working on a new means of paying i.e.

parishes purchasing a unit number (minimum of 5) of papers at a slight discount. We will only break-even / be in a slight

profit if 4 out of the 5 newspapers are sold. If you would like a Catholic paper please speak with Fr. Nicholas who can

ensure one is reserved for you. This can be done for parishioners in either church.

St. Paul’s 100 Club. Subscriptions for the 100 Club will be taken from NEXT weekend. Be in it to win (9x£25 & 1x£200)!

Diocesan Directories 2020. Copies of the 2020 Diocesan Directory are now available. Payment of £4 in the Piety Box.

Sacraments of First Reconciliation & Holy Communion 2020. If you are the parent of a child who is in Year 3 (or

above) in a non-Catholic school & would like your child to receive either the Sacrament of 1st Reconciliation or Holy

Communion during the coming year please contact Fr. Nicholas ASAP.

Coughs & Colds. If you are suffering from a cough/cold please refrain from receiving Holy Communion from the chalice.

Census. Please ensure that if you have not yet completed a census forms you take one home with you THIS weekend !

Pilgrimage to Poland. If you would be interested in being part of a pilgrimage to Poland next August please take a look

at the itinerary. Costing £950 pp (sharing) for 8 days/7 nights includes BB & EM & Guide. The Itinerary & a list to be

signed by interested parties are available in the porches of our churches. Numbers are needed by the end of January.

Church Cleaners. Thank you to all who take the time & the effort to clean & maintain our churches & social spaces.

Batley Food Bank. Thank you for the on-going donations; these are taken to Batley each month.

Extra News. See our webpages link entitled “Diocesan Events”.

Tea & Coffee. Refreshments are served in our Halls after both Sunday morning Masses.

Project 150. Information & photographs are wanted; please contact Peter Moreland (01924-501774).

Music Practice. Practices for musicians & singers are held at St. Paul’s on Tuesdays at 7.00 pm. All welcome !

Holy Spirit 150 Club. The winner of weekly prize Draw (£25) was (No. 143) Sheila Beaumont — congratulations !

Safeguarding. Parents must accompany any child under 12 years of age to the toilets in our churches.

Over-55’s Beginners Keep Fit. It is hoped that a Keep Fit Group will start in St. Paul’s Hall in February (on Friday

mornings). It will comprise easy to follow, fun, simple, exercise moves to sounds of the 50s, 60s & 70s. If you would like
