Paul & Ravi have been making music together since 1997 when they formed The Overtone Choir UK. Their cult CD, 'Spirals' has featured in many films including two award winners, 'Touching the Void ' ( BAFTA best film in all categories 2004 ) and 'Three Miles North of Molkom'. The combination of Ravi's heart songs, chants and world music with Paul's harmonic sounds on Gong, tambura and bowls and both their overtone voices has created a music described as, ' like messages from beyond....both sublime and surreal.' Ravi has developed a unique style of playing the kora in his explorations as a multi-musician over a period of twenty years. The kora is a 21 stringed harp from West Africa and made from a calabash gourd, skin and fishing line. Traditionally played by hereditary griot musicians, Ravi was one of the first Western kora players to take this highly sophisticated instrument into new musical areas such as jazz and fusion . Ravi has made 20 of his own and collaborative recordings including work with Nigel Kennedy, Babba Maal, Dr John, John Lord, Ronu Majumdar, Deva Premal & Miten, Phil Manzanera and many leading traditional musicians. He has also created pioneering projects such as "Neuneneu" with Brazilian legend Marlui Miranda which brought Amazon Indians on a concert tour of Europe Ravi is also an accomplished overtone singer, and performances include his own devotional songs of prayerful reflection. www.koratone.com Paul and Ravi offer the following programs: Concerts The Overtone Choir.
