The Old World Monkey Trail:

Starting at: The National Trust centre at Fyne Court, Broomfield.

OS map ref: ST 223 321. Drive up onto the Quantocks via Kingston St

Mary up Buncombe Hill, turn right at the top and follow the signposts to Fyne

Court about a mile along this road. There are toilets and a tea room at Fyne

Court but best to check on their website whether they are open at this time.

Walk start time:. 10.50am

Park in the Fyne Court car park as shown above. Have a look round

beforehand if you have time, the grounds are lovely. Proceed up the track you

came in by car, and then turn right at the exit.

Take the next right at the signpost shown below to Enmore and Spaxton. Keep

left on the following bend and then almost immediately afterwards you’ll see

a path (restricted byway) leading downhill to your left as shown below right.

About 10mins later, take the right fork as shown below (with the Macmillan

Way sign).

There are some good rural views.

At the valley bottom you need to cross this stream beside a farm and then

walk up to the road shown above. Go straight over (caution fast road) and

head up the path almost opposite with the marker post.

This path is steep and dark, but eventually you emerge onto a small road as

shown above. Go straight on (left) and follow this road until you see Ivyton

Farm as shown below right.

Your rendezvous point is at the farm. The Trail turns up hill from the farm as

shown below.
