1923The now-famous hole is punched in the corner of every issue at the bindery.
1943After a German spy is arrested on Long Island, New York, carrying a copy ofThe Old Farmer’s Almanac (presumably,to check the weather and tides), the War Department prohibits the Almanac from usingthe term “forecasts.”
1832The word “Old” is added to the title because thisAlmanac has outlasted (and outsold) all other “farmer’s almanacs.”
1851The illustration of the four seasons, withimages of Robert B.Thomas and Benjamin Franklin(“the father of almanacs”), first appears on the cover,creating one of themost familiar brandsymbols ever conceived.
