OBJECTIVES At the end of the program. The participants will have the opportunity to: Discuss various strategies to enhance membership onboarding
and engagement. Identify best practices in recruiting, renewing, and sustaining
members of PNAA. Describe several factors which facilitate effective management
meetings leading the team to peak performance, including the habits of highly effective meetings.
Ascertain the responsibilities of the meeting leader in preparing, conducting, and follow up of a meeting.
Describe Grit as a characteristic of transformational leader. Ex-plain the use of emotional intelligence to overcome social com-plexities of a nurse leader.
OVERVIEW The Regional Leadership Institute aims to provide innovative, diverse, practical knowledge and strategies on members’ onboarding and engagement, on conducting a highly effective management meeting, cultivating and building leadership Grit and the use of emotional intelligence for transformational leaders. The Leadership Institute is open to all chapter members, offic-ers, leaders, and potential future leaders; there is no limit to the number of chapter members who may attend for $60.00 each. We highly recommend the program for chapter, and subchapter’s president and president-elect. The chapter and subchapter’s president will receive free registration. PNAA Executive Board Members and PNAA Past-presidents will also receive free registration.

Melinda Bender, PhD, PNP-BC, RN Assistant Professor at the UCSF School of
Nursing, & Family Health Care Nursing Department. She is a nurse researcher and board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Ruth Rosenblum DNP, RN, MS, PNP-BC, CNS Assistant Professor and Director of the
Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) Program at San Jose State University. She is a
pediatric nurse practitioner and has an interest in technology and healthcare delivery.
Ariel Baria, RN, MS, ANP-BC Pre-doctoral student at UCSF SON. Will talk about drug and opioid use and abuse among US Veterans. He currently works as an ANP at the LA Veteran Administration Hospital.
Erin H. McCalley, MS, CNS, CCRN, CCNS, RN A Clinical Nurse Specialist and currently works at Stanford Hospital and Clinics as the Nursing Professional Development Specialist focusing on education and training staff.
