Leitner May 15, 1927 - Jan. 7, 2013 Lucille E. Leitner, 85 years of age, of Concordia, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. She was born May 15, 1927 in Thayer County, Neb. to Leonard and Martha (Schutte) Dankenbring. She graduated from Bruning High School and received her business degree from National Business Institute in Lincoln, Neb. She first worked for an attorney in Bruning and then decided to follow her parents to Goodland, where she was employed by BE Bridges and ultimately met her future hus- band, Bill Leitner. They were married Sept. 7, 1947 and lived in Goodland until August 1977. Bill’s job moved them to Nor- ton, until his retirement when they moved to Bennington to be closer to ‘the kids’ where she was actively involved with the United Women With a Mission (UWWM). After Bill’s death in October 2004, Lucille moved to Concordia to be closer to her daughter Shari and family. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill. She is survived by her three children, Gary, of Olathe, Cindy Tieperman and husband Greg of Plano, Texas, Shari John- son and husband Ron of Con- cordia; grandchildren, Lauren and husband Ryan, Lacey and fiancé Andrew, Gentry, Tyson and wife Brooke, Bryant and fiancée Shaley, Taryn; great- grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Kayla, Braden, Bowen, Kippen; three sisters, Arlene Mesloh of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dolores Peters of Colby, Wilma Casey and husband Pearson of Waco, Texas; two sisters in-law, Darla Mather and husband Lowell of Sharon Springs, Joanie Leitner of Lincoln, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lucille was passionate about so many things. She loved her family more than anything and treasured her time with them as well as watching pictures and memories on her digital photo frame. Lucille loved flowers, working crossword puzzles, working with stained glass, reading her newspapers and fol- lowing local sports plus K-State and KU (often watching one on TV and listening to two more on the radio), talking with her sisters on the phone, reading Sharon Randall and Guideposts. She was fondly known as Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma, ‘gram cracker’, grams, Lucille and ‘Cille. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Goodland and attended the First United Methodist Church in Concordia. Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 11 at the First Unit- ed Methodist Church in Con- cordia with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., MST, Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland. Wedding Announcement Norton County 4-H members will be preparing their favorite recipe and showing off their best hostess style as they present the Favorite Food Show, Sunday, Jan. 13, at the 4-H Building in Norton. This program has been a tradition to allow 4-H mem- bers an opportunity to try out a favorite dish of theirs and set a place setting with their own touch. The dish the 4-H mem- bers may do can range from a simple snack to an entree or a dish as a part of a main course meal. Some examples of this years entrants are Key Lime Pie, Banana Split Tart, Chocolate Crunch Brownies, Olive Garden Chocolate Lasagna and Sassy Ham and Cheese Sandwiches to name a few. The 4-H members will begin entering their projects at 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the consulta- tion judging will be done from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the ex- hibits will be open to the public at 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. 4-H mem- bers will visit with the judges about the preparation and serv- ing suggestions with their recipe. They will also share nutritional and food safety topics with the judge. May 15, 1927 - Jan. 7, 2013Lucille E. Leitner, 85 years of
