“I come from a poorbackground and my father was aLabour supporter. As a child, Icouldn’t understand why if Labourwas the party for the workingclasses, my parents had nothing toshow for their hard work. Not muchwas expected for my future either. When Margaret Thatcher came topower I heard a different message:no matter what your background,it’s in your power to take controland achieve your goals. That was
inspiring, and I’ve been aConservative ever since.”

“I don’t come from aConservative family. My Mumwas a socialist for decades andmy Dad nearly joined theCommunist Party! I became aConservative because I amattracted to the freedom ofopportunity the party believesin. I also believe that as manydecisions as possible should bemade at the local level toensure people feel involved inthe decision-making process.”
