All Saints Sunday, November 5

An important part of our Christian tradition is

to recall to our minds those whom we have lost

as we claim that they have joined the host of

the saints of light. During Wellspring and

Foundation worship on November 5 we will

have a time to call the names of those persons

whom we have lost to death since the last All

Saints Sunday Celebration. A candle will be

lighted and bell tolled to signify these lives

now entered into eternal life. A last bell and

candle will signify those additional persons

but whom we honor.

The names of those persons we have gathered

are as follows: Mazle Campbell, Vic Dearen,

Ed Dunlap, Doris Everett, Felton Gill, Mary

Jane Godwin, Paralee Hickerson, Helen

Himes, Robert Lane, Marjorie Lorance, Ben

McLean, Elleen Parson, June Petty, Mildred

Price, Shirley Smith, Donald Taylor, and Patsy

The Bedford County Imagination Library just completed a very successful

challenge donor fundraising campaign. I want to thank the members of

Shelbyville First United Methodist Church for their generous support of

over $950.00. We are now

mailing books to 2,200 children

every month. For many of these

children, these books are the only

print material in their homes. If

you talk to our educators, they

say it makes a very big difference

for these children when they enter school. Thank you again.

Dear Church Family,

Thank you so much for helping Nate

celebrate the Ronald McDonald House. As

his parents, it is comforting to know that he

is surrounded by Christians with a giving

heart. Together with your donations and his

friends, Nate was able to deliver many boxes

of food, and cleaning supplies, a stack of gift

cards, and $325 in cash. Again, thank you

for helping us raise Nate in a faithful and

giving environment.

Sincerely,

Josh and

Carrie Brooke

STEWARDSHIP OF OUR FIRST FRUITS OUR PRAYERS, OUR PRESENCE, OUR GIFTS, OUR SERVICE, AND OUR WITNESS

Memorials Memorials are directed to specific funds at the direction of the donor. They are listed here simply as “Memorials”

From the Family of Ben McLean

We have been overwhelmed with the prayers and concerns

from our church family. The funeral service at the church was

especially meaningful to us as Rev. Lanita and the choir

celebrated his life. Also, a special thanks to those who

coordinated, cooked and served the meal afterwards—your

love continues to be a source of comfort to all of us.

Most sincerely,

Mickey and Tom McLean

The Stones River District is

raising funds to send a truck

load of fiberglass insulation to

the areas in Texas devastated by

recent hurricanes. The use of a

semi-truck and driver have been donated, so

all funds raised go to the purchase of the

insulation. We need $30,000 to fill the truck.

We have already raised over $9,000. If you

would like to contribute, please make your

checks to First UMC and mark them for

“insulation.”

We continue to receive funds for UMCOR

(the United Methodist Committee on Relief)

for the many storms which have hit in recent

months. Thank you for your generosity to

those in need!
