He holds a Masters Degree in Public Health and is Board Cerfied in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice & Palliave Care and Medical Direcon. Upon returning to Virginia, Dr. Evans has served as Medical Director of the Geriatric Clinic at JABA, Medical Director of the Geriatric Inpaent Unit at the University of Virginia, Secon Chief of the Geriatrics and Palliave Care program at the University of Virginia, and has served as Medical Director of several local nursing facilies. Dr. Evans has special knowledge of the aging process and is a foremost authority on the risks and dangers of using psychotropic drugs for elderly persons with demena and will discuss proven methods and research for finding and resolving the true cause of a person with demena’s problemac behavior. In 2011 Dr. Evans tesfied before the United States Senate Special Commiee on Aging on the use of anpsychoc drugs in nursing homes. “Overprescribed: The Human and Taxpayers' Costs of Anpsychocs in Nursing Homes” was well received and has been influenal in shaping public policy on the overuse of anpsychoc drugs with elderly persons with demena. Dr. Evans is President-Elect of the American Medical Directors Associaon (AMDA).
