An innovative Partnership of developing countries, funding partners and FAO was created…..

… to facilitate the implementation of national forest programmes.

- It is called the NFP Facility -


The Facility is a new approach towards Sustainable Forest Management• Away from projects• Country led• Informed participation of stakeholders

The Facility has 3 strategic orientations: • Building a national consensus• Integrating forestry into poverty reduction • Integrating international commitments


The Facility supports:

Partner countries and their interest groups, through grants, to further the nfp process

nfp practitioners world-wide, through global knowledge management initiatives


Catalytic Support Actions• nfps = dynamic Processes

responsive to change• Capacity building, human &

institutional• Policy and institutional reforms• Championing the forestry sector• Mobilizing national and

international financial resources


Support to

• Civil society participation in nfp

Funding per Partner country• US$ 300,000 per country, on average• for a 3-year period

Funds for Grants provided to nfp stakeholders
