Advices to the bureau of im-

migration from Delegate W.H. Andrews in Washingtonstate that the president will inall probably issue the procla-mation which will admit NewMexico to the full benefits ofstatehood either Saturday orMonday, depending upon whenthe oiiiciul notification fromGovernor Mills is received atthe capital.

This will be the last step inthe admission of New Mexico, and is an event to which thepeople have looked forwardfor many years. The telegram-doe- s

not state what, if any, ceremonies will attend thesigning of flip proclamation.U is probable, however, thatthe pen used by the presidentfor the signature to the docu-

ment will be donated to theNew Mexico Historical socie-t- y.

That the day of entiance in-

to the sisterhood of statesnight become a national holi-la- y

ii the statement, 'made inbe telegram from Mr. An-Ire- ws.

Mr. Andrews denieshat Delegate Cameron of Arioua had entered any bill pro

viding for making the day ofadmitting the last territoryinto stateship a national holi-

day, but said that an effoitwould be made later to havethe date of admitting NewMexico and Arizona such aholiday. The bases for mak-

ing the day a holiday is thatupon that day the UnitedStates embraced the entirecontinental territory belong-

ing to that government, therebeing no territories on the continent geographically contigu-ous to the states. Alaska is,

of course, left out in the coldas a territory still, but is notcontiguous to any state.

Such a holiday would bringNew Mexico and Arizonamore into the eye of the general public than any other thingcould do and the advertisingvalue would be immense. Al

"Title Talks"

The Business of Abstracting

l toe business of Abstracting titles is of comparatively recentgrowth. Ab lands increase in value, the need of title, security becomesmere and more imperative.

It Í8 just as sensible to b&ieguard the title to a thousand dollar va-

cant lot or to any other property, as it is to keep your thousand dollarbond under lock and key.

PROTECTION IN EITHER CASE IS THE THING SOUGHT.Good titles make real estate ns negotiable as stocks and bonds.
