The Middle TV Show-Color

Element: This picture uses color as an element. They chose to use a light green.

Analysis: The creator of this picture uses the color to bring out the joy of the family because light green is a happy color and also shows how the family is happy for the most part. (Except, of course, Axle, who is the teenage boy).

The Middle TV Show-Emphasis

Principle: A principle that this picture uses is emphasis. The emphasis is on the family rather than the background.

Analysis: Emphasis is used in this picture to draw the attention to the family rather than the background. This is done by making the background color very mild and it does a good job of this.

Inception Movie Poster-Form

Element: In this poster from the movie “Inception,” form is used. The form in the poster is the buildings in the background and the people in the foreground. These are obviously the main characters of the film.

Analysis: Form is used in this poster because it shows how the characters of the film move around in their environment. It also shows how the movie is three-dimensional instead of two-dimensional.

Inception Movie Poster-Contrast

Principle: This poster uses contrast. The contrast is between the people in the foreground and the collapsing street in the background.

Contrast is used in this poster to bring out the importance of the men and woman in the picture as well as the buildings being wrecked. It draws attention to both of the subjects and also reveals a portion of the plot of the movie.

iOS 8 Design Ad-Shape

Element: Shape is used in this advertisement. The shape in this advertisement is the display of the cell phone being portrayed. It gives us the outline of what the new software is capable of and what it will look like when it is eventually released.

Analysis: By using shape in this context, the viewer is able to see the make up of the new software. They can see the different sizes of certain subjects and where things are in relation to others.

iOS 8 Design Ad-Pattern

Principle: Pattern is also used in this picture. The pattern is the multiple screens shown in the picture. They are all right in a row.

Analysis: Pattern is used in this advertisement to compare different capabilities of the operating system. Instead of just having one picture by itself, the designer decided to show off multiple features on the same canvas. This is effective in showing the consumer the multiple capabilities and looks of iOS 8.

NBA 2K15 Trailer-Space

Element: Space is used in this trailer. The space is how the game is three-dimensional and gives off a life-like feeling because of the quality of the graphics and how the player can move around.

Space is used in this trailer to show how the player can move around on the court, making it more life-like. It also shows how different shot forms can effect how the ball is shot or dunked. By doing this, it may appeal to the prospective customer based on their opinion of how space is utilized.

NBA 2K15 Trailer-Movement

Principle: Movement is used in this trailer. The movement is basically just the way the player and camera perspective is moved while you are playing the game.

Movement is used in this trailer to show how the player can move around the court and it also shows the complexity of the camera angles. As a player of this game, I would say that the camera angles and FPS (frames per second) of the game is very important. This determines how smooth the game plays.

The 20/20 Experience Album Cover-Value

Element: Value is used on this album cover. The value on this album cover is everything but the “J” and “T.”

Value is used to draw the attention to the “J” and the “T,” symbolizing Justin Timberlake and the importance of his initials.

The 20/20 Experience Album Cover-BalancePrinciple: Balance is used on this album cover. Balance is used with the “J” and “T” as well as the phoropter that is covering Timberlake’s eyes. The term 20/20 is also used to define balance of the vision of the eyes.

Analysis: Balance is used on this album cover to represent Timberlake’s perfect vision. The perfect vision is compared to Timberlake’s psychological vision on how he can describe a girl, or the subject of the song, with perfect detail.
