BON•O•METER is a metering ball valve.The solu-tion developed integrates the metering device insidethe ball in such a manner that:

The orifice and the ball form one piece only.

The delta pressure measurement points (upstreamand downstream the orifice) are machined on thevalve outlets so that they can be rotated by means ofdisconnecting the bolts (body/outlets) in accordancewith the media characteristics (upper for gases anddown for liquids).

The engineering of the BON•O•METER has beendesigned to achieve the metering results (in the mostsimple way) inside the ball valve, without any chan-ge in the valve itself. So, it is possible to maintain thecost and the features of the application quite similarto a normal ball valve. That’s the aim of theBON•O•METER.

The ball is easily removable.

The ball valve used for the BON•O•METERisTOPAZ design (see opposite page).

THE BON•O•METERADVANTAGES

The BON•O•METER may be installed as a normalon-off ball valve. In case it is required theBON•O•METER gives the chance to collect therelevant process data (capacity flow, density, tem-perature, static pressure…) by means of a secon-dary transmitter that can be connected with theautomatic connections of the valve.

The BON•O•METER gives the chance to performthe process measurement on the valve, avoidingthe use of other primary metering devices, suchas Dp flange, nozzle, Venturi nozzles.The advantages are:

To save money for the reduction of the number ofcomponents in comparison to a standard applica-tion (Dp flange, pipe length, thermometer well).

To reduce the costs of installation.To reduce the overall dimensions of the applicationin comparison with a standard application (valve,pipe, thermometer well).

TOPAZ BALLVALVE

TOPAZball valve in stainless steel, of solld andadvanced design, is backed by the twenty-yearexperience gained by ENOLGAS in production ofball valves.

In order to keep tolerances and material qualityconstant, investment casting of body and endadapter was preferred to forging, with careful sub-sequent toolings on CNC machines, which gua-rantees a high quality standard.

Leading design and accurate machining and fini-shing of the valves guarantee a perfect tightnessand lifetime troubleless working operations.

THE BON•O•METERCONCEPT

The concept of the measurement comes from theBernoulli theorem/principle, commonly used for theDp metering flange engineering. ISO 5167 is theinternational standard that technically specifies theapplication. In a few words a calibrated orificeassembled in a pipe reduces locally the pressureof the fluid in such a manner that the local deltapressure imposed by the orifice, opportunely mea-sured by means of Dp devices, is related to thecapacity of the fluid flow that passes throughoutthe orifice itself. The orifice is integrated in the ball,so that the ball and the orifice are one piece only.

THE METERING BALLVALVE

TRIPLE SEALING BLOW OUT-PROOF STEMTOPAZ ball valve is bottom loaded stem designedto prevent blow-out, with a triple sealing: in theupper part one stem packing in PTFE and one O-Ring in fluoroelastomer and a thrust washer inPTFE in the lower part.The patented and automatic system guarantees aperfect tight seal in any working condition, thanksto the two spring washers that maintain a con-stantpressure on the seats, and that, by taking upslackenings, exclude any need for maintenance.
