togetherness. I can only thank the Holy
Spirit for leading us in this change.
What a joy it was to worship this
morning. You are so right in your
observation of this transitional
morning. Loved the service, excited about
the number in attendance, The Holy Spirit
was at work today.
It was great! There must have been a
huge amount of time and preparation on
the parts of many people to have this
transition work so well. Thanks to all of
you.
I had conversations for the first time today,
with people that have been attending for
years. We had six new people in our
Sunday School class. Everyone was very
excited about the change. I did not hear one
negative word - only very positive
comments.
I thought the service went very well,
congrats to the church staff and everyone
who was a part. It was so good to see the
church almost full!!!!!
I felt the excitement and saw people I
haven’t seen in a long time!!! If I was a
visitor in the sanctuary, I would have
thought: Wow! This place must be a
wonderful place to worship because look
how many people are here!!! I think God
was pleased!!! I know I felt very blessed!!!
God is doing a new thing in our congregation. I
could feel the excitement in the air when we met
for the first time with our new Sunday schedule.
I received comments from many of you both in
written form and verbally. Here is just a sample
of some of the responses that came via email:
This morning was a wonderful way to
start the new year!!
I have to share with you the joy I felt in my
heart in seeing the sanctuary filled with
brothers and sisters who looked happy to
be here. I felt strength too and

As pastor, I can’t begin to tell you how this thrills my heart. Although I am saddened that our
new service time will not work out for everyone, I am hopeful that our renewed excitement will
not wane, but will lead to even greater heights of worship which, in turn, will attract new peo-
ple to our church. I am thankful for all of you who worked so hard to make this transition as
easy as possible. There are still some wrinkles we will need to work out, but I think we are on
the way to deeper blessing. It is my joy to serve alongside of you.

Looking into 2019 at Marysville FUMC The Leadership Team and the Ministries Team met together to pray and plan for 2019. Here is
a summary of their recent meeting.
The Leadership Team
Our primary governing body which oversees all the admin-
istrative matters of the church. They have set these specific
goals for 2019:
Building Security
Our goal is to develop policies and procedures that will enhance building safety. We want to
make sure that every person who comes into the church feels safe.
Staffing Needs
We want to improve communication with the staff and to review and renew the staff manual.
With the help of the staff and Ministries Team, we also plan to do a staff assessment to assure
that our future staff changes will meet the needs of the church.
Navigate through Possible Denominational Changes
We will stay informed of actions within the United Methodist Church and lead the congregation
in discussion, dialogue and decisions that may arise.
The Ministries Team
This team supports and empowers the congregation in
ministry opportunities that are in accordance with the
church’s vision and four key strategies (Engage, Con-
nect, Equip, and Send). They have established these
specific goals:
Support Growth of Youth & Children’s Ministry
We plan to take a strategic look at children and youth ministries (facilities, staffing, program,
etc.) and consider what is needed to help these ministries prosper.
Form a Culture of Ministry Servanthood
We plan to study how we can get a greater percentage of the church family serving in ministry
by identifying ministry needs and assessing where we are lacking volunteers. We want to
educate and motivate people to fulfill the vision of the church by serving. This will include
updating our ministries brochure, following up with Ministries Review and planning a
Ministry Fair.
Invest in New Ways to Make Disciples
We will join with the Leadership Team in encouraging all ministries to see 2019 as a year to
look outside the walls of our church. We will support the Contemporary Worship Team as
they look for new worship opportunities to reach young people not currently attending
church.
Your Participation in Goals for 2019
In keeping with our monthly theme of the DNA of our church, here are three areas in which
the leaders of your church encourage you to participate in 2019.
Determine to reach out beyond the church walls
Join with the church to achieve our goal of inviting 1000 people to attend a worship service.
We will create invitation cards to assist.
During the month of May, join with our church and other local churches in studying The
Art of Neighboring by Jay Pathak and Dave Runyon, and then put the principles into
practice by intentionally reaching out to your neighbors.
Nurture the fellowship within our church family
Participate in two church fellowship experiences. (Examples of what this might be: Day of
Jubilee, Square Dance, Fall Festival)
Invite a church family to your house for dinner. (Even better, add a neighbor who doesn’t
attend church.)
Participate in combined worship services and occasionally visit the service you don’t nor-
mally attend.
Looking into 2019 at Marysville FUMC

Equip Ministries Spiritual Growth
Dear Church,
The Equip Team had their first meeting of 2019 and we are blessed to begin this year! Our team
focus is:
We take spiritual growth very seriously and delight in leading others on that path as well. We
want people to expand their knowledge of who God is and how He wants to use us in everyday life.
We believe that through Bible study, training, classes and attending retreat experiences we are
better prepared to act as joyful disciples that….make disciples! We also adhere to the truth that
small groups, life groups, share groups and learning communities transform us into the image of
Christ as we grow, share life and serve side by side!
Setting our course for 2019 we are excited to plan retreats, lead conference trips, encourage church
wide book studies, lead life group leadership training classes, equip bible study facilitators and
walk beside small groups that need direction and revitalization. We are here to serve you, encour-
age you and walk with you as you grow in the grace of God.
Currently we are planning a training session for group leaders and selecting a book study for the
church to revisit the importance of small groups! This study will strengthen our existing groups
and…provide new groups that are birthed-a clear model of growing, fellowshipping and serving
side-by-side! Stay tuned for more information as the year unfolds!

Quake youth and adults are planning on being the hands and feet of Christ in Honduras this summer.
They will partner with the ministries of WGM in El Sembrador, Honduras to minister to the people
there. They will be helping students of El Sembrador school, completing various projects, assisting
with the food/book distributions, and encouraging the local church and community. For Further Infor-
mation: http://www.wgm.org/elsembrador Thank you for supporting our mission trip efforts.
Quake's Honduras Mission Trip - EnveHOPEs fundraiser!
We want to encourage you take one of our EnveHOPEs to help support our students and adults who
will be serving this May 25 to June 1 in El Sembrador, Honduras. These are numbered envelopes that-
will bring the HOPE of Jesus and that's why we call them EnveHOPEs, because we are returning to El
Sembrador to bring HOPE in many ways with a small construction project, visiting local schools, and
to build Christ-center relationships with the boys in their school.
Our EnveHOPEs fundraiser works only with your support. Feel free to take any dollar amount and
take that envelope off of the board in either the BFLC entrance or Sanctuary. There is a prayer card
and photo of our team for you to keep. We ask that you put it somewhere like a refrigerator or vanity
mirror so you can be praying for us daily. Put the amount on your front of the EveHOPEs either cash
or check (if check, please make out to MFUMC and memo "Honduras Mission Trip." Place the
EveHOPEs in the offering plate or church office.
Thank you for your generous donation! The Honduras Mission Trip Team 2019

PARENTS: Are you finding it hard to plan a night out, or…. a night in with your kids out? If your
answer is yes, then we have just the thing for you!
The Methodist youth group, Quake, holds a Parents’ Night Out about once a month during the school year.
Here are the details:
Location: First United Methodist Church
Time: Saturdays from 4:00-8:00pm ****Note the day and time changes.
You are welcome to pick your children up at any time during the night.
Cost: $20 for one child and $5 for each additional child in the family.
Dates: Feb 9, March 9, April 13, May 11
Where does the money go?: All money raised is put into a Missions fund account and used to pay for any trips or events that the youth participate in.
The children are divided into the following groups:
1) Infant - 3 year olds ~ These kids are in the nursery all night. We have 1 adult with 1 or 2 youth, depending on how many kids we have signed up for the night.
2) Preschool ~ These kids are in one of the preschool rooms upstairs from 4-6:00 playing with the kitchen toys, coloring, puzzles, maybe doing a craft, and having a light meal. At 6:00 they come down to the gym and pretty much just run around and scream J or play group games. At 8:00 they join the school age group in the cafe for a snack and to watch a movie until parent pick up time at 8:00. Depending on the size of the group, we will have 1 adult with 2-4 youth.
3) School Age ~ These kids are in the gym and cafe from 4-6:00. We have games and crafts for them to do in the cafe, and they do their own thing in the gym, which is what I like to call controlled chaos :) Most of the kids are running around for the whole 2 hours. At 6:00 they will go into the café for a light meal and then at 6:30 we start the movie. We have 1 or 2 adults with 4 or 5 youth, de-pending on how many families have signed up for the night.
If this sounds like something you would like to take advantage of, just complete the registration on the back of this page and turn it into the church office. Please contact Kendra Ingle at 937-707-8022 or email her at [email protected] with any questions.
In order to have the appropriate number of volunteers to watch the kids, and because space is limited, you MUST be signed up 48 hours BEFORE the night
of the event.

Shown above are Bill Delong of the Marysville Winter Bluegrass Series (left) and Keith Wasserman, Founder and Executive Director of Good Works, Inc. (right). Bill is turning over the keys to the 15 passenger Ford Van we were able to donate to further the mission and ministry of Good Works in Athens, OH. We encourage you to find ways that you and your family can volunteer to help others. If you are interested in more infor-mation about Good Works, please visit: www.good-works.net

KICK Kids in Christ’s Kingdom
Look at our new Children’s Ministry
logo! K.I.C.K. stands for
Kids in Christ’s Kingdom. Look for this logo as we start a
fun and fabulous year with the
children.
We are kicking off the year with a great start to Sunday School and
Children’s Church. There is lots of excitement in the air. We are look-
ing forward to an amazing year with the children.
If you would like to serve, we need a Preschool teacher and Kindergar-
ten teacher for Sunday School. We also need helpers for Children’s
church.
Those interested in helping contact [email protected].
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” Thessalonians 5:11
WINTER FUN!
Have you ever tried to paint snow? Yes, you read it correctly…PAINT SNOW! These children
are having fun painting snow on Wacky Tacky Day! (Tacky is a penguin character from a book).
Did you notice how intense some of them are? We’ve been having fun with our winter/snow/ice
theme. At the time of the writing of this article, the weather has cooperated a little too perfectly
with our theme. We collected the snow outside, and today we are off school because of icy condi-
tions!
