MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT I hope all of you are surviving this long relentless winter we’ve had and have avoided the cold/flu bug going around (I sure didn’t.) I also hope all Members received and read the letter (dated 1/23/08) detailing the changes made to the membership sale policy. I want to take this opportunity to pro-vide a brief progress report on how this new initiative is playing out. The new $15,000 minimum membership sale price, as set and established by the Board of Governors at its January 17th meeting, is not effective until April 1, but as you can imagine, word is getting out in the community and there has been much interest in acquiring a membership at The Jeremy in this ensuing period. Membership sales have been orderly and brisk, and with each sale, the spread between the sale price as set by the selling Mem-ber and the upcoming $15,000 minimum amount is quickly shrinking. All the activity is keeping our new Membership Committee head, Bruce Jorgensen, on his toes. He is the one interviewing both the Member spon-sor and person applying to join The Jeremy, and ultimately making a rec-ommendation (or not) to the Board to approve bringing on the new mem-ber. Bruce is doing a great job, but as a new Board member this year, I hope he doesn’t consider this assignment as “rookie hazing”. If you have any questions about how this transition process, or about the new minimum membership sale price policy, please contact Rick or Alayna in the business office and they will be happy to help. So far the confusion one would expect with any change like this has been minimal and the feedback all of the Board and management have received about this new initiative has overwhelming been positive and supportive. I plan to communicate with the Membership at frequent intervals during this year to update you on how this new membership sale price policy is playing out in the marketplace of buyers and sellers of our Club memberships.

EASTER BRUNCH Sunday, March 23, 2008

10:30 AM - 2:30 PM

With only one month left to the winter golf season, and with eighteen championship golf courses to select from, it’s time to come and play simulator golf. We have had some course records that need to be challenged by you.

Playing in the beautiful country of Canada, our own Jake Hanley, has shot the lowest score on any of the courses with a 64.

Playing in Cabo San Lucas, our 7-year old phenom, Cole Ponich, with five birdies, shot a score of 76. Way to go Cole!

In the longest drive department, Chef “Sweet” Lou, hit a prodigious 421 yard drive. He edged Tom Ponich by only two yards. Wow! You can do more than just cook! Good job fellas!

As you see, it is really fun to play these courses. We will only have the machine for another month so sign up now!

From the Clubhouse Manager , Ryan Prosowski The holidays are long gone and I’m sure you have turned our attention towards skiing, snowboarding, maybe have even taken a quick trip south for some winter golf. We at The Jeremy are also included in this mindset although our goals are different. We are actively planning our summer social and golf functions along with summer lunch and dinner menus. Recapping the past months highlights I would like to thank everyone for coming out to the Super Bowl Party and watching one of the most dramatic upsets in Super Bowl history and another Manning brother raising the Lombardi Trophy. Just on a side note everyone laughed at me but I called the Giants to upset the Patri-ots. Lucky guess or incredible knowledge? I will probably just go with a lucky guess. Congratulations to Roger Arshts’ guest who won the Steve Young autographed picture during the fourth quarter raffle. Thank you to everyone who came out to our second snowshoe event of the year. The crowd was lively and in great spirits trekking around the course under a moonlit sky. The evening was complimented by hors d’ oeuvres prior to the trek and a great Italian buffet with a delectable selection of desserts by our Chef Christo-pher Young. We will be holding our third and final snowshoe event on March 15th. See you there. The month of March brings us two holidays. St. Patrick’s Day will be on Monday the 17th but we will be featuring our Corned Beef and Cabbage special on Saturday the 15th in the dining room. Please make reser-vations so Chef Chris knows how much to prepare. Easter is also right around the corner and the Easter Bunny has confirmed to come out to the club on Saturday March 22nd for all of the kids to take a picture and enjoy a great breakfast here at the club. The very next day we will be featuring our Easter Brunch from 10:30-2:30, this has always proven to be a very well attended event so please make your reservations in ad-vance. See the advertisement in this issue of The Scorecard for additional information. The Pier Bar will be the place to be on Fridays with the Friday Night Music Series officially kicking off for the season, please keep an eye out for the list of musicians that will be playing. Looking forward into April we will be planning a Final Four Saturday on the 5th of April. This will be an event a lot like the Super Bowl Party but the NCAA men’s basketball tournament will be the focus. This plans to be a fun filled party, will we have a Cinderella story like 12th ranked George Mason a couple of years ago or will the Utes or Cougars make a run. Either way this will be the place to be for the Final Four. Included this month will be a gourmet wine dinner. Please keep an eye out for any additional information regarding this. The wine dinners are always a sell out and we only allow 40 people for these events so please make your reservation ASAP. The Chef and I are busy tasting food and wine selections for this eve-ning; this is one part of the job that you will not hear any complaints from us. Cheers!!!

The Jeremy Golf and Country Club Annual Stockholder Meeting

April 24th, 2008 6:30 pm In The Banquet Room

The Jeremy Golf and Country Club Utah Guest Artist Program

Tree Silhouettes Photographs by Brett Johnson

The tree is ubiquitous; it is taken for grated. We appreciate the shade and protection it offers, yet ignore its form. But the tree in silhouette? Compelling. A tree creates patterns and designs more engaging than any that ooze from brush or pen. Its branches and leaves filter sunlight in spectacular ways, throwing living, breathing shadows. And of all flora, the tree is the one we anthropomorphize: It is a crippled old man or a lithe young woman. Its branches are arms and its twigs are fingers. It is a plant with a voice. It whispers secrets, sighs, and prayers. For Kahlil Gibran, “Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky.” I hope to have captured some to that poetry here.

About the Artist To make his photographs, Brett employs a wide variety of cameras, including 35mm and medium-format film cam-eras, digital SLRs, and antique cameras. He also uses “toy

cameras,” like the Hogan and Diana. Largely self taught, Brett has studied outdoor photography, portraiture, and dark room techniques. His photographs have appeared in many shows in the Salt Lake City area, and have been published in F Stop magazine, newspapers, and on the cover of the Utah Bar Journal numerous times. One of those photos was selected as “Cover of the Year.” When not behind a camera, Brett is a business and real estate liti-gation partner with Snell & Wilmer, LLP. To see more of his work, visit Brett’s website: www.blinkphotographyonline.com, or watch for one of his upcoming shows.

COMING IN APRIL….

THE BIG DOG RULES

BY RUFUS

From Information Services, Dave Ostler

The Jeremy office staff has been frantically working to update all the information in the website that changes in preparation for the coming golf season. The list of an-nual information to be updated is very long and covers everything from the schedule of events to changes in the makeup of the board. Be looking for the updates throughout this month. Alayna and her team have been working hard to have it all in place again before the end of March.

In addition, we have been very concerned about the amount of email and regular mail we send out to com-municate with the membership. Right now we feel the member’s options for receiving emails and printed ver-sions are relatively limited and would like understand better the choices that would best meet your needs. Look for a survey in March that will help us better under how to best communicate with you. Please take the time to fill out the survey and return it to the business office. As always we are looking ways to best use our commu-nications resources to help you get the most out of your club membership. Please feel free to send any sugges-tions to myself or any other member of the Information Systems committee.

WIRELESS ACCESS The Jeremy Golf and Country Club has wireless access available in the clubhouse, for our member’s use. This service is monitored and we ask for members to be cour-teous to other members by keeping your speakers turned down.
