INT. JIMMYS DRESSING ROOM - DAY

JIMMY a tall dark American with black READING glasses on, isgazing into the distance in a back stage green room. Jimmylooks around the room in discuss, he walks around the roompicking things up and dropping them. Danny walks in after him

on his phone, hes wearing a suit and has dark black hair, hewalks in stacking papers sky high.

An old dusty mirror with a rotting wooden chair next to itwhich has a big yellow stain from the last user, in onecorner and a discolored smelly dressing curtain in the other.Jimmy has a annoyed look on his face as he looks away fromDanny.

Danny looks at Jimmy.

DANNY

Jimm.. Jimmy are you listening tome?

Jimmy looking at the wall turn his head a little and looksonly with his eyes.

DANNY (CONTD)Dont give me that look. You know

why your here, you need this.

Jimmy turns his head fully at Danny.

JIMMYNo, I dont know why Im here, Idont need to waste my fucking timetelling my jokes to these dieingfuckers who arent going to bearound long enough to rememberthem.

Jimmy turns away from Danny and goes to the table in themiddle of the room, he bends down and DIPS his hand into thebowl of M and Ms he carefully goes through them.

His face drops as he LIFTS his hand out of the bowl flicking

some M and Ms at the end. He stands back up and turns toDanny.

He bends down and picks a random M and M and looks at it. Hethen FLICKS it into his mouth.

JIMMY (CONTD)Look... they dont even have a goodselection of snacks for theirperformers. What kind of place isthis?

Danny sighs and RUBS his hands over his face and down to hischin, he walks over to Jimmy.

DANNYWho cares what snacks they have,its a fucking death house not acandy shop. Remember your only hereto boost your number of fans.

JIMMYHow am I going to boost my fans ifthere all gonna be dead in a week?!

DANNYNot these fuckers, but when peoplehere youve been to a hospital totell jokes for free, THAT... that

will increase you number of fans.

As Jimmy and Danny stand parallel to each other and Jimmygoes to speak, the door opens.

The receptionist walks in he is a short guy with light brownhair, he enters the room wearing his work suit with his tiedone tightly all the way up to the top. He stands in the roomnervously twiddling him thumbs.

RECEPTIONISTIm sorry to interrupt you Mr. Van,but I have a request for you.

Jimmy pauses from his M and Ms and looks up at thereceptionist, he SCANS him up and down before turning awayreturning to his M and Ms. Danny looks at Jimmy then to thereceptionist.

DANNYErm... Whats the request?

The receptionist looks at Jimmy then to Danny, he CLEARS histhroat.

RECEPTIONISTErm... Theres and woman who missedyour set today because she wasreally ill, but she still wants to

see you.

Jimmy looks over to the table and walks over, he picks up ajuice box, he looks at it and removes the strew, he unwrapsit and starts chewing it. He looks at him and shakes hishead.

Danny looks over at Jimmy and looks embarrassed so he JUMPSin.

DANNYHed love to...

Danny looks over to Jimmy stuffing his face with M and Ms.His fake smile plastered on his smug face. He look back atthe receptionist.

The receptionist gives Jimmy another look up and down, thenturns to Danny.

RECEPTIONISTOh, okay great shell be over the

moon shes been rea...

Jimmy looks up from the bowl of mainly yellow M and Ms, helooks at the receptionist and CUTS in.

JIMMYWhich room is that in?

The receptionist stops in shock and looks at Jimmy, his face

filled with lack of care for what he has to say. Thereceptionist looking shocked and scared by Jimmy answers.

RECEPTIONISTEum, shes in room 101. I can takeyou there if you want?

The receptionist looks at Jimmy eagerly waiting for hisresponse, Jimmy takes a second, looks at his M and Ms picksone up and POPS it in his mouth, he chews it firmly, thenlooks up at him.

JIMMYNo... thats fine... Ill be theresoon.

The receptionist looks at Jimmy then at Danny and then backat Jimmy, Danny just looks at him and smiles, he then CLEARShis throat again and slowly starts to back away from them andhead toward the door. He reaches the door and quickly turnsaround and leaves the room.

FADE BLACK

INT. BETHS BEDROOM - DAY

A knock at the door as Jimmy without waiting for an answerwalks in.

He look at the empty bed with the sheets open and the bodyprint of who ever slept There the night before.

A noise from the bathroom door GRABS his attention, he looksat the bathroom door which is labeled bathroom with a

mysterious stain on the sign.

JIMMYHello?...

BETHIf you dont mind?

JIMMYNot at all... its my job.

Jimmy pauses, and looks at Beth. She starts chuckling andsmiles at him.

They pass the next few hours just sitting and talking to eachother about their lives and experiences, laughing, tellingeach other stories and just enjoying each others company. Theclock STRIKES eight oclock.

A knock at the door, Jimmy and Beth both stop laughing andturn to face the door. The door SWINGS open and thereceptionist POPS his head into the room.

RECEPTIONISTOh, I didnt realize you were stillhere.

JIMMYYeah we were just talking, having alaugh.

Jimmy looks at Beth and smiles.

RECEPTIONISTOkay well visiting hours are overnow, youll have to leave so Bethcan get some rest.

JIMMYOkay, just give me a minute to saygoodbye.

The receptionist pulls his tie up to the top and pulls hissuit jacket down and walks off. Jimmy turns back to Beth.

JIMMY (CONTD)Well I guess I should be going.

Jimmy gets up.

JIMMY (CONTD)Guess Ill see you soon.

He turns and faces the door, he gets fully up and takes astep toward the door.

BETHThanks for coming.

Jimmy stops and turns back around, he looks at Beth as she

gets into bed. Jimmy takes a deep breath and returns to thechair.

JIMMYYou dont think... when yourbetter... erm... we could... Go...I mean... we could go somewhere...just... you and... me?

Jimmy looks at Beth waiting for her answer, his heart startsto beat fast. Beth looks up in SHOCK, she looks around theroom a little flattered, she looks back as Jimmy, and herface fills up with sadness.

BETHErm... I cant... Sorry.

Jimmys face CRASHES down to the floor.

JIMMYOh... Okay...

Jimmy looks away and places his hands on the edge of his seatas hes gets up. Beth looks at him and sighs, and places herhand on his knee to stop him.

BETHIts not that I dont want to...

Jimmy looks back up at her.

JIMMYThen what is it?

Beth sighs.

BETHSit down.

Jimmy slowly places his hand on the chair and slides it out.He carefully sits down all the while not loosing eye contact

with her. He sits and moves the chair up closely to her bed.Beth looks at him.

BETH (CONTD)Listen, I think your a very lovely

person... but...

Jimmy holds his breath on the last word, as if they ever thelast he would ever hear.

BETH (CONTD)But... I dont have any time foranybody in my life right now.

Jimmy leans forward and takes her hand, he rubs it gently andlook deep into her eyes.

JIMMYListen, I understand that you dont

want a relationship right now, butall I want is to take you outsometime and treat you right.

Beth looks at him, she sighs and looks away, her eyes startto WATER UP as she looks back.

BETHNo... no I cant...

JIMMYWait... please, all I want is...

Beth PULLS her hand away, she places it on her face and rubsher eye. A single tear drop, a lonely ball a water ROLLS downher check.

BETH(crying)

Stop... stop...

Another tear ball ROLLS down her face.

BETH (CONTD)(crying)

Its not that I dont want to...its just... just...

Jimmy leans forward desperate for the answer.

JIMMYWhat?.. Tell me... Whats wrong?

Beth looks into his eyes, she takes his hand again and placesit on her chest, and she presses firmly.

BETHShhhhh... Can you feel that?

The room goes quite as Jimmy sits and waits, his hand firmlypressed on her chest, he listens out for something. She looks

at him.

BETH (CONTD)Can you hear that?

Jimmy listens more closely. He then beginis to hear a slightbeat, he hears the beats of her heart. Jimmy leans even morecloser to get a better listen, he then he hears the beats abit more clearly, the beats are very weak and faint, theybeat quite slow and spaced apart from a normal heart, likethe heart was struggling to work.

Jimmy SLOWLY removes his hand from her chest and sits back onhis chair. His face SHOCKED from what hes just heard. Helooks up at her.

BETHI havent much time?..

JIMMY

Why... Are you?..

BETH(whispers)Yep...

Beth looks down, she wipes her face and looks up at himagain.

JIMMYHow long do you have?..

BETHI dont know... but if I dont geta new one soon... theyll be no onehere...

Jimmy looks at her. He leans forward as if he is going to saysomething, as he leans in theres a knock at the door. Theyboth quickly look up and wipe their faces.

The door SWINGS open, and the receptionist SLOWLY pops hishead in the room. His face slightly red, he clears histhroat.

RECEPTIONISTYour still here?! I said you had toleave ages ago...

Jimmy looks back at Beth. The receptionist Storms off. Jimmygets up out of the chair, he falls back down onto it as if he

were stuck with glue. He looks at Beth his heart startsbeating faster and faster.

He RISES from the seat, and slowly walks toward the door.Beth eyes close as she looks down. Jimmy opens the door andslowly walks out.

INT. CORRIDOR - NIGHT

Jimmy slowly walk out of the room shooting the door behindhim. Danny is in the corridor on his phone, waiting for him.As Jimmy walks out Danny looks up at him, they both look ateach other, Danny with a smile on his face and Jimmy with himface down to the floor.

DANNYSo... how did it go?

Danny stands there eagerly awaiting an answer. Jimmy looksaway from him and starts to walk off. Danny looks confused.

Jimmy smiles.

DANNY (CONTD)Then she said the condition she hasis very hard to find a fix for, andthat it could never be fixed.

Jimmys head drops down, Danny notices it and stops talking.Jimmy turns around his eye red and watered up, he walksforward.
