Charleen, who became President in January, 2015, and Ron have been involved with the VMP
for six years, beginning with its inception and concept development in 2012. The established timeline was to have the five murals finished by May, 2018 to coincide with the City of Manteca 100th Anniversary celebration on May 19, 2018 and the dedication of the World War I Mural (Zero Hour).
They have collaborated with the artists and muralists, many individuals, mem-bers of the Mural Society, veterans and organizations, and the City to accom-
plish the VMP. Ron gathered a dedicated and talented team of volunteers who worked together on the preparation, installation, and unveiling of the Murals on
the east wall of the Bedquarters building.
Please join us for an interesting and inspirational program about the Veterans Murals, as well as a preview of the 32nd mural that commemorates the laying of
the final spike of the Transcontinental Railroad at Mossdale Landing. The program at the Museum starts at 7 p.m., is free to all, and followed by re-
freshments.
Manteca Mural Society’s President Charleen Carroll and Veterans Liaison Ron Cruz will be the featured presenters at the Historical Society
Program on Thursday, August 9. They will share highlights of the history and development in ac-complishing and installing the Veterans Mural Project (VMP) at the northwest corner of Main
and Yosemite. Though not completed in chrono-logical order, the five individual murals represent World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the War on Terror. Public
meetings were held for the VMP for the purpose of input.
