The Testimony Of

Hattie Wright Mosier

HattieShe said the right thing

e took Edith, my littlesister, up to a meetingthat a man called

‘Brother Roy’ was having nearbyhere, but she didn’t seem to getnone better. She was in a lot ofpain, and she cried a lot. Then oneday me and Shelby was peddlin’some vegetables, and this womannamed Shutters told us to go to theBranham Tabernacle and takeEdith. She said they was havingspecial meetings, and a certainnight would be the last meeting. Sowe went that last night.

We took little Edith, and my, wasthat place full of people, singing and

clapping their hands. And the music! There was a short, thin fellow thatplayed the bass drum, and he couldreally hit it just right. And then thatBrother Hornback and the sisters upthere sung so beautiful. I rememberthat there was a dirt floor, and a bigwood stove to one side. I don’trightly know whether to say it wassomething to see or to hear, becauseyou could just do both, you see. When Brother Bill prayed for Edith, she took a few steps that night, theonly ones she ever did take. He saidto us, “I want you to come back, atleast three more times.”

Well, our 3 more times has been

about forty-three years. Of course itwasn’t all the time, ‘cause we had tomiss a few times. There was a timeor two, when Shelby got sick andcouldn’t drive us, that we couldn’tget to church, but we always tried tobe there. When Brother Bill went onthe evangelistic field, there washardly anybody that went, unlessBrother Bill was in town. Mom toldhim that we would try to always bethere, to help hold it up, so to speak.

That was in the fall of 1935.Shelby thinks it was around aboutOctober, the last night of themeeting. My, but there was a lot ofpeople there!

W

Page 5: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

Edith was just a little bitty thing, she only weighed 4 pounds when shewas born. Mom and Pop took her tochurch down here at Blue River, andyou know how it is in a wagon, whenhorses go down a hill. It was joltin’and rough, and Edith was laying on apillow in the back. Mom always feltthat maybe her neck got off the pillowsome, because it was after that whenshe started quivering. She’d stretchand groan, and then she took thejaundice.

Once when she was 6 months old,and Mom had gone to the barn to milk,I was left holding Edith in the house. When Mom came in, I said, “Mom,you’re just going to have to come and

get her.” She had drawed up double tillI couldn’t hold her anymore. She wasin a lot of misery. That was on NewYear’s day of 1922. I was fourteenyears old.

When Edith got a little older, she’dhit out at things. Just anything that gotnear her, she’d hit it. She just couldn’thelp herself that away. See, shecouldn’t even feed herself, andsomebody had to lift and carry her. Icarried her till I just couldn’t do it nomore.

She never got over her affliction, not to walk and take care of herself. But after Brother Bill prayed for her,she was changed a lot, and she didn’thave that terrible pain ever again. Andhow that girl loved to go to church!Edith could feel bad through the week, but she would say, “I’ll be alright to goto church on Sunday,” and sureenough, she was. She was just proud togo to church, and sometimes we’d go awhole week at a time, if the revivalwas on.

With her one limb she learned to dolots of things. She’d pull herself in herwheelchair, around the kitchen andsweep the floor for Mom. The otherleg was always drawed up towards herchest, she couldn’t get it down to use, none at all.

We’d give her a button and a lengthof thread in her mouth, and just usingher tongue, she would thread thebutton, and then tie the two ends of thethread together into a knot. Why, a lotof times a person can hardly do that

with their fingers! Once, she showedBrother Bill how she could do that, and he took that button and thread andhung it over the mirror in his littleroadster for a long time.

Now, Edith couldn’t pick up anewspaper and read it for nothing, butshe could read her Bible. Brother Billalways said that she could ask him themost hardest questions of anybody heknew. She asked him a question once, something about why Jesus neverbaptized people. Brother Bill said,“Well, I’d better read up on that one.”

And he came back later and toldher the answer. It would really tickleher if she thought she had stumpedhim.

Brother Bill always sent postcardsto Edith when he traveled. She had somany of those foldin’ kind, with lots ofpictures from way yonder across theocean. She’d show all her postcards toeverybody that came to the house.

{ { {I got married in 1940 to Walter

Mosier. Brother Bill was preaching atMilltown then, but he married us righthere in Mom and Pop’s house. But henever did call me nothing but HattieWright–he never did call me Mosier. After he married us, they had a showerdown by Totten’s Ford!, kind of apicnic thing. But Brother Bill couldn’tstay, because he had to go pray forsomebody.

{ { {Once, when Brother Bill was

patrolling the lines for the powercompany, he stopped down here atDepaw and called Pop. He was plumsoaking wet from the rain. Heborrowed some clothes from Pop andwent to Milltown and preached thatnight.

Brother Bill liked to go out in thewoods and pray before supper, andhe’d tell us, “Now when it’s ready, ring the bell for me, and I’ll come.”

Brother Branham relates the story of the squirrels

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thouremoved, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shallbelieve that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoeverhe saith.

St Mark 11:23

I had been in the woods for three days, squirrelhunting, but there were no squirrels there. It was aboutten o’clock in the morning, and the wind was blowingreal hard, and I had sat down in a sycamore thicket, aplace where squirrels don’t even come. I was thinkingon that Scripture (Mark 11:23, it had stumped me all mylife) and I thought, “Well, how could it be? Not ‘if Isay,’ but ‘if you say.’ Not if Jesus says it, but if you sayit yourself.”

Then I heard that Voice speak to me and He said,“That scripture is like all Scriptures, It’s true. Speak, and it will be that way. Don’t doubt it. You’re huntingand you need squirrels, just the same as Abrahamneeded a ram.”

I got up from where I was sitting and looked allaround. “Where is that Person that was talking to me?”

There was nothing, just blowing wind. I thought,“Could I have fallen asleep and dreamed that? No, Iwasn’t asleep, I was sitting up against the tree there. There are farmers over there, working, gathering theircorn.”

And I heard the Voice again say, “You are huntingand you need game. How many do you need?”

I thought, “That Voice has always told me the truth, but this sounds funny. I don’t want to overdo this, soI’m just going to ask for three squirrels. I want three, young red squirrels. I want them.”

He said, “Then speak about it.”

I said, “I am going to get three, young red squirrels.”

The Voice said, “Which way will they come?”

I picked out a ridiculous place, an old dry limb thatwas hanging about fifty yards away, and I said, “Thefirst one will be right there.”

And there he was. I rubbed my eyes and turned myhead and thought, “I don’t want to shoot a vision.” Ilooked around again and there sat the squirrel. I threw ashell up into my gun, aimed, and shot the squirrel. Itdropped off the limb, and I walked over to where it lay.I picked it up and blood ran out of it. Visions don’tbleed, you know. It was a squirrel.

I looked around again, and I said “God, thank you!Thank you for this. Now I’ll go out and…”

The Voice said, “But you said you’d get three. Now,where will the next one come from?”

I picked out an old post of a tree that was all wrappedin poison ivy. You would never get a squirrel to go intothat, so I said, “The next one will come right out of thatpoison ivy…” and there say that young red squirrel, looking right at me.

I set down my gun and rubbed my eyes. Then Ipicked it up again, shot the squirrel and started to gohome. Again the voice said, “You said ‘three’! Do youdoubt what you said?”

I said, “No, Lord, I don’t doubt what I said, forYou’re confirming.”

And I thought, “Somehow I’ve broken into thatchannel, and I know He’s here because I’m almostbeside myself. I’ll make this one ridiculous, sureenough.”

I said, “There will be a red squirrel come down offthat hill, come down this a-way, right beside me, and goout on that limb and look down there at that farmer.”

Here came the squirrel, down the hill, and sat on thelimb and looked at the farmer. I shot him.

Satan said to me, “You know the woods are just fullof squirrels right now.”

I sat there till twelve o’clock, and not another thinghappened.

It goes to show that He’s the very Creator of Heavensand earth! Just when Abraham needed a ram, Godprovided that ram. And He provided the squirrels. Hecould speak a squirrel into existence because He is thecreator, just the same as He could speak the ram.Abraham never asked for it, but it just showed thatJehova-jireh was there.

The first time this ever happened (the third pull) upona human being was to a little humble woman namedHattie Wright. She made about two hundred dollars ayear for a living, all she got out of her little farm, andshe had come and donated twenty dollars of that to thebuilding fund of the Tabernacle in Jeffersonville.Brother Banks Wood and I went down to her farm oneday to give it back to her, but she wouldn’t take it.

That day, while Brother Banks and I went out to getthe family a rabbit, they cooked a big cherry cobblerand when we came in from hunting, they made us setdown and eat.

We were all sitting around the table, talking about the

Page 7: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

creation of the squirrels that had happened just a fewdays before. I said, “What could have happened?Brother Wright, you’re an old man, you’ve huntedsquirrels all your life. Brother Shelby, you’re an expertsquirrel hunter. Brother Woods, so are you. I’vehunted them since I was a kid. Did you ever see asquirrel in a sycamore and locust thicket?”

“No sir,” they all said.

I said, “They just weren’t there. The only thing Iknow, it’s just the same God. When Abraham needed aram, He was Jehova-jireh, He could ‘provide forHimself.’ I believe it’s the same thing.”

And little Hattie setting back there said, “BrotherBranham, that’s nothing but the truth!”

She said the right thing! When she said that, theHoly Spirit dropped over into that channel again, everyone of them felt It. I raised up, and I said, ‘SisterHattie, THUS SAITH THE LORD, you said the rightword, just like the Syrophenician woman. The HolySpirit’s speaking to me now, and said for me to giveyou the desire of your heart. Now, if I be God’sservant, it’ll happen. If I ain’t God’s servant, then I ama liar, and it won’t happen. Now try, and see if It’s theSpirit of God or not.”

She said, “Brother Branham,” (everybody wascrying) “what shall I ask for?”

I said, “You’ve got a crippled sister sitting there. You’ve got a father and mother sitting here that are old.You haven’t got any money. Ask for the money, andsee if it comes in your lap. Ask for your sister, and seeif she don’t get up and walk.”

She looked around, and all at once she said, “BrotherBranham, the greatest desire in my heart is the salvationof my two boys.”I said, “I give you your boys, in the Name of JesusChrist.”

And those two boys, who had been snickering andlaughing at what was going on, fell across theirmother’s lap and surrendered their lives to God and wasfilled with the Holy Ghost right then!

Think of all the people I’m aquatinted with, and Godbypassed the celebrities and went to a poor, littlehumble woman who could hardly sign her own name.He knew what she’d ask for! And that was the greatestthing. Her sister is now dead; her mother and fatherhave to die; the money would have perished; but thesouls of her boys are Eternal.

The full account of these occurrences can be foundin the following sermons by William Branham:Look Away To Jesus, December 29, 1963; I HaveHeard, But Now I See, November 27, 1965.

One evening, the bell was rungand Brother Bill didn’t come anddidn’t come. I was out milking whenPop came to get me, and Shelby andanother feller that was visitin’, andme and Pop set out to look for him.Pop had just started across the fenceover on Bently-Stevens Hill there, when he come up on Brother Bill, andhe was just as white as a sheet. Hesaid, “We’ve got to go by way ofCarter’s. She’s going to be healed.”

Pop said, “Can I go with you?”That was just Pop’s way, you know.

So they took along the feller thatwas here for supper, and they headedover to Carter’s house. They saidsomething about someone else goingalong, but it ended up being just thethree of them. We found out later thatSister Carter had seen in a vision thatthere would be three men come to herdoor.

Sister Georgie got up out of thatbed, after being in there all themyears, and played that piano. Later, she even baked a cake. She just got

stronger and stronger, and todayyou’d never know nothing about herever being sick.

This was just either right before orright after Walt and me were married,I can’t remember which.

{ { {We kept little Billy Paul a few

times. Mom made him a little shirtout of these white sugar sacks, youknow. He had the cutest pair of bluelong pants that he wore for church.

Once they were down here andBrother Bill was going to preachsomewhere that evening. He wantedto go out in the woods to pray for awhile, and Billy Paul wanted to gowith him, but Brother Bill told him tostay at the house. Billy Paul toldMom, “I’m just going out here andget all dirky,” (you know he couldn’ttalk real plain).

He went out in the mud(underneath where the eaves dripped)and took handfuls of mud and rubbedall over his little face. Mom had a

time getting him cleaned up, andBrother Bill talked to him for quite abit when he came in.

Sometimes Billy Paul would helpme milk. He’d sit the bucket downand say, “Give, cow, give,” We’dhave quite a time.

Brother Bill, Shelby Wright, and Billy Paul.

Page 8: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

My oldest boy, Orville Lee, was onthe school bus when they came up onthe tractor that had overturned, andtheir daddy was killed underneath it.Coy, the littlest, was on the bus too,but he never saw his daddy. Not longafter that, Orville Lee got sick, and hewas just really pitiful. He’d sometimesbark like a dog, and if he got hold ofyou, you couldn’t get loose. I couldn’tleave him. They finally put him in ahospital in Corydon, but they couldn’thelp him none. He was 11 years old.

One day Brother Bill came here tothe house and talked to us and prayed. He said, “You take that shirt off of himand throw it in the fire, and don’t lethim see it.”

But Orville did see it, ‘cause hewas just to the age when he would findthings out. He was in the hospital forone month after that, before he finallycame to himself again. Whatevercaused it, we just don’t rightly know, but they always thought it was theshock over his daddy getting killed.

{ { {Mom made real big biscuits, and

folks got to calling them ‘cowboybiscuits.’ Brother Bill would say that 7of them made a dozen, as big as theywas.

Brother Doc would come out and

hunt sometimes with Brother Bill, andthey would ‘devil’ one another a lot atthe table. Brother Doc would eat a lotand there’d be a big pile of bones andsuch beside his plate. Brother Billwould say, “It looks like a pig diedthere beside your plate!” Brother Billdidn’t eat much, ‘cause he was alwaysbusy talking to us.

It bothers me that people don’twant to visit anymore, even afterchurch. Why, there’s people that willget up and leave before church is evenover. They used to be more friendlyand such.

{ { {Now, how is it that Brother Bill

used to say that about the 11th day andthe 11th hour and so forth? Haven’t youheard him say that? That one time hecame out hunting was on the 11th dayof November–that was when the warwas stopped, you know.

Brother Bill came out early thatmorning to hunt, and he asked Edith,“Do you want me to get you a squirrelor a rabbit today?”

Me and the boys was cleaning thestables out that day, but the kidsalways liked to go over to Pops whenBrother Bill was there. I told the kidsthat as long as Mom was cooking, I’dhelp her to take it up and to washdishes, on account of Edith taking upso much of her time and all. So when itcome on to lunch time, Coy drove us

over to Pops on the tractor. When wewas about there we saw Brother Billand Brother Wood coming up alongthe road. It was beginning to rain, sothe kids went and met them on thetractor.

While Brother Bill cleaned therabbit that he got, we talked. He toldme how he sometimes had a hard timegetting Billy Paul up out of bed, and Itold him how that I had a hard timegetting the boys up in the morning tohelp me milk before they went toschool.

They all sat down to the table toeat. There was Brother Wood and hisboy, David, and Mom and Pop andEdith, and Shelby and the two boys, and Brother Bill. They was all at thetable eating, but me, I was sitting off toone side of the kitchen on a little canechair we had there.

Brother Bill liked his cherry pie,and Mom had fixed him one. He satthere from about half past one till fiveo’clock. I don’t see how he got enoughto eat, talkin’ as he did. He wassupposed to go and meet thesebusiness men, and here he hadn’t gone.Instead he began to tell us how theLord had showed him about thesesquirrels, and how they was to come.He told about a man picking cornacross the field, and how they was in asycamore, no leaves on now, at thistime of year.

Then he said that the only thing heknowed was that it was just likehappened to Abraham, when the Lordgave him that ram.

And I said, “It’s nothing but theTruth,” because I knew it was.

Then he turned to me and said itwas THUS SAITH THE LORD, that Icould ask whatever I wanted. I didn’tknow just what it was about, but hesaid I could ask for money, or forMom and Pop, or Edith. But I knewwhat I wanted, so I just said that Iwanted my boys to be saved.

Afterward, Shelby wanted to takeus home in the car, because of the rainand all, but I said that we’d be OK. Ijust felt like I was walking way off theground, and I felt it all week. It just feltso good.

Mom said, “That’s better thangoing to church.”

Orville and Coy with their mother, Hattie, in frontof the altar at the Branham Tabernacle.

Page 9: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

My boys was baptized, and I’vegot a picture of them being baptized.Coy had such a cold, and that waterwas so cold, I thought it might makehim sick and such, but it neverbothered him one bit.

Brother Collins, BaptizingHattie’s sons.

That was on an Armistice Daywhen he come to hunt that time. The11th hour and the 11th day and soforth… You know how Brother Billcould talk about such things.

{ { {Well, that’s about all there is to

it. I’m not one for fancy talking andsuch, so this all may sound kindamixed up, but it’s the truth.

I should have swept and cleanedup a little bit today, but instead Iwent out and picked me a saucer ofraspberries for my lunch. Folks arealways coming out here to see meand to talk. I really like the visits, but when you got cows to milk, sometimes the visitin’ has to be cutkinda short, you know. Of course, you’re welcome to come on out to

the barn while I milk. You mighteven lend a hand, if you’ve a mindto.

Editors note: Sister Hattie WrightMosier went to be with the Lord onJuly 4, 1980. She was 72 years old.

Orville and Coy Mosier presentlylive in Milltown, Indiana.

Women’s Work, continued…“When Bill and I were married and I began to travel

with him to a few of the meetings, I was introduced forthe first time to what it seemed that the world expected ofthe ideal minister’s wife. I felt that there was just no waythat I could ever measure up to those expectations. Thewives and family members of the other ministers whotraveled with Bill the Lindseys, the Baxters, the Moores, the Bosworths, and others–were all educated, and (in myeyes) they appeared to be so accomplished. The onlything I knew how to do was housework–keeping thehouse, the kids, and the clothes. I knew that Bill didn’texpect me to be a social butterfly, but I felt so ignorant, and I was constantly afraid of saying or doing the wrongthing and bringing a disgrace to his ministry. Finally, satan had me to the place where I even thought that Billwould be better off without me.

“One day I was at the ironing board, rushing to finishup the clothes that I was needing to get packed for Bill. Iwas feeling sorry for myself, and wishing that I could bemore like the other wives that I knew would be attendingthe meetings he was preparing to leave for.

“ ‘Lord,’ I cried, ‘Why does it seem that this is theonly thing I am able to do for my husband and myfamily? Why can’t I do something that is important?’

“Then something spoke to my heart and said, ‘Youcan pray for them.’

“Of course, I always prayed for every member of my

family, but somehow as I continued to iron Bill’s shirt, Ibegan to pray specifically for him, asking the Lord tostrengthen him for the meetings which lay just ahead.

“Then I ironed Sarah’s skirt, and I began to pray forher, and for the difficulties and decisions she faced atschool each day.

“And so it went. As each article was taken from thebasket, I would pray for the one who would wear thatgarment. All too soon, the ironing was finished, and Iknew that I had found my important job.

“I really don’t like to iron, but from then on it ceasedto be just ‘ironing’ to me and became an ‘opportunity’instead.”

Scattered throughout the Scriptures are stories ofheroic women whose lives influenced their families, and,at times, even helped to shape the histories of theircommunities. They were just ordinary women, but theyeach had learned a valuable secret, and that secret is this:There is a tendency in us all to pass by the smallopportunities which come our way, thinking there is abigger and better one just ahead. But faithfulness in doingwhatever duty is at hand, and an ability to recognize anopportunity to serve God, even in humble tasks that isthe stuff of which true heroes, and heroines, of the faithare made.

What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and tolove mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8

The Queenof Shebaby William Marrion Branham

This message was preached in Los Angeles,California on the evening of April 4, 1959.

Our Lord had been rebuking manyof the people who had been followingHim and had seen His great miracles, and still they had not repented. In theprevious part of this chapter, He wasupbraiding the cities that He had beenin, because in these cities He hadperformed a sign, that all believersshould know that that was the sign ofthe Messiah. Those who seeminglyGod had ordained to Eternal Life, byHis foreknowledge, had believed. Hehad drawn His disciples to Him by thisthing. He had performed this sign, andthey who were looking for the GodProphet to come, they knew that wasHe.

But many of them had disbelieved. In the previous part of this chapter Hewas saying to them that after He hadperformed these works, they had saidthat He was an evil spirit, that on Himwas a spirit of Belezebub, which wasan evil spirit. To make it in words sowe could understand: They believedthat the spirit that He had that couldtell Peter who he was, and what hisfather’s name was (not seeing himbefore), and could tell Phillip where hewas before he came to the meeting, anddiscern the thoughts of their hearts –they classed It as an evil spirit, afortuneteller or some evil devil. AndJesus had told them, “If you speak thatagainst the Son of Man it shall beforgiven you, but when the Holy Ghostis come, to speak against That, it willnever be forgiven.”

And we find out that it was just asHe said. He was speaking there andsaid, “And thou, Capernaum, which artexhalted unto heaven, shalt he broughtdown to hell for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, hadbeen done in Sodom, it would haveremained until this day.”

St. Matthew 11:23

A degraded and polluted city, asSodom was, and yet Jesus said if thosesigns would have been done in Sodom,it would have remained. We find thatthe sign that He was doing was doneby an Angel that was later called‘God,’ just outside of Sodom, toAbraham and to Sarah and their hosts. But He never did that down in Sodom.

Page 12: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

In all ages, God has had man thathe could put His hand on to do Hiswork. God chooses man, not machines. He chooses man to work through. Hechose the prophets of the OldTestament; He chose His own Son ofthe New Testament, and the apostles, and on down through the age. He’salways had people who would believeHim. God has never been without awitness. Sometimes, it has gottendown to just a few, but always there isa remnant.

Jesus also referred to Jonah theprophet. Jonah was taken out into thesea, on his road to Tarsus, and a greatstorm came up and they bound his feetand hands and throwed him out, and abig fish swallowed him. It went downto the bottom of the sea, many fathomsdeep, and Jonah was kept alive forthree days and three nights. I believethat to be the truth, for the Word ofGod said it’s the truth.

I have read that the people ofNineveh were worshippers of idols, and their sins had gotten great. One oftheir gods, the god of the sea, was awhale. It was the god of the seabecause it was the largest species inthe sea, and the occupation of thepeople was fishing.

All of them were at their tasks thatmorning, drawing in the nets of fishes, when all of a sudden, up comes thegod of the sea. He opens his mouth, and the prophet walks out. Sure theyrepented, it was all in order.

God knows how to do things; wejust have to follow. No matter if itseems ridiculous, go do it anyhow, ifthe Spirit of God is leading.

And they repented in sackcloth andashes because a miracle like that hadtaken place.

And here was Jesus standing thereperforming the sign of the Messiah, and that generation called it theworking of a devil. Jesus said thatthey’ll raise up (for they repented withthe preaching of Jonah), and they’llrise in the day of the judgement withthis generation, and condemn it.

Then He goes to the little queen ofthe south, in the days of Solomon. Now, God had given a great gift toSolomon, and anyone who reads the

Scriptures knows that when God sendsa gift to the earth and the people rejectthat gift, it’s always chaos to thatgeneration. They never prosper. Theyend up in judgement upon the nations. If they accept the gift that God sends,it’s usually a millennium for thosepeople; they are blessed.

We know as Bible readers that thedays of Solomon was a golden age forIsrael. Why? Because all the people, with one accord, rallied around thatgreat gift that Solomon had from God.

I wonder what would take placetonight, if all the churches in theUnited States would rally around thegift that God has given us? That is theHoly Ghost God’s gift. What if all thechurches would break down theirbarriers and would rally around thatgreat gift of Godly, Brotherly Loveand the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Itwould be the greatest defense thisnation could have. It would be betterthan all those scientists and atomicbombs and so forth that they couldinvent. For that’s what God wants usto do–aIl of us in our differentdenominations–to recognize oneanother as brothers and sisters. Rallyaround this great gift of God, which isthe Holy Ghost, that comes with powerand manifestation and demonstrationsof His Presence. Then there would notbe one cruel word spoken against anymove of God. We’d all be one greatbig bundle of Godly love. That’s whatit’s going to take for the church to goin the rapture.

Paul said “Though I might speakwith tongues like man and angels, andhave not love, it profits me nothing. Icould discern or have all the wisdomof the Scriptures and know them alland have faith to move mountains, Iam still nothing.”

What a disappointment it’s going tobe at the judgement for man whothought that they were all rightbecause they had faith to heal the sick, they had faith to operate a gift, and hadgreat meetings and great evangelisticservices, and won souls. Jesus hasforewarned us of these things: “Manywill say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in they name?and in thy name have cast out devils?and in thy name done many wonderful

works.”Then He said He would confess to

them, “I never knew you: depart fromme, ye that work iniquity.” St.Matthew 7:22-23

It takes more than the power ofgifts. It takes more than joiningchurch. It takes the birth of the HolySpirit to break down our walls and tounite us together as one great Christianbody, moving for one objective andone goal.

They did that in the days ofSolomon. Why, everybody that cameby, they would speak of it assomething great. Solomon had a gift ofdiscernment, wisdom; and peoplecoming by would say, “Oh, don’t youleave,” they would say to the passerby,“until you come and see what the Lordour God has done for us.

Would not that be wonderful tohear again tonight? “Come and see.Our God is a living God!”

The news made headlines. The onlyway they had back then to send newswas from lip to ear, and that newsswept out all over the known world, that there was a great God up in Israelwho was manifesting Himself throughHis servant, Solomon. All the people, with one accord, was rallying aroundit. Unity, there is power in unity.

Then the news finally came to thelittle queen, all the way across theSahara Desert, way down into theutmost parts of the known world ofthat day, down into Sheba. Why, everytraveler that would come by, that hadpassed through Israel, would say, “Oh,you should go up there and see thosepeople. Why, they’re just as bold asthey can be. They know there’s not aflaw about their religion.”

That’s the way we want to believeit.

There’s nothing wrong with theHoly Spirit. It’s the perfect Gift of Godto the church!

They would keep speaking aboutthe great things that Solomon woulddo. Now faith cometh by what?Hearing! Hearing the Word of God.And, you know, when this word keptcoming to this little queen, she beganto believe that it was the Truth, and shebegan to thirst to go find out about it.

Page 13: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

Jesus said, “Ye are the salt ofthe earth, but if the salt has lost itsavor (or its strength), …it isthenceforth good for nothing, butto be cast out, and to be troddenunderfoot of men (made roadsout of).” St. Matthew 5:13

Well, I do not wish to becritical, but to a certain degree,we are letting this great blessinggo to that. The strength of theHoly Spirit should be in everymember of the church! “What doyou mean, strength?” The powerof the resurrection! The Life thatJesus gave for the Church shouldbe operating in every member ofthe Body. It is the strength.

Salt will only save if itcontacts, but it must make contact. And if the Church gets thatburden on their heart to contactsomeone, get someone saved, thenthe strength is coming back intothe Church again, and into thepeople.

This little woman, she had alot of difficulties. The odds (as wewould call it in the world) wasagainst her. In the first place, shewas a woman. Then, she was apagan, a worshipper of idols. Andbeing in her position–the queen–she would have to ask for a releasefrom her own church before she couldgo up and attend that revival.

Well, you can imagine what thepagan priest would say to her: “Nowlook, my dear, do not be carried awaywith such little fantastic things. If therewas any god to be made manifest, wewould have it right here in Sheba. Ourchurch would have it. We’d be theones that was doing it.”

If that isn’t the attitude of manypeople today. I trust that you don’tthink I’m criticizing, I’m just making adeclaration of facts.

Now notice: She longed to go, andthey would get out the scrolls and say,“Now look here, this great god of oursis so and so.”

She’d say, “I heard mygrandmother talk about that, and shesaid she’d heard her grandmother talkabout it, but all we have is somewritten words of a god that onceexisted. Where is he today. They tellme that those people up there in Israel

have a Living God, who is livingamong them, operating through them. Iwant to see it!”

“Blessed are they which do hungerand thirst after righteousness: for theyshall be filled.” St. Matthew 5:6

She made ready. She was a sensiblewoman. She laden some animals downwith gold and silver and frankincenseand many great stones of great price.Let’s think that she said this in herheart: “I’m not going to sit down herein Sheba and just be a wet rag. Ifthey’ve got a revival going on thatmanifests the presence of a LivingGod, I’m going up to find out about it.For if they’ve got that among them, wehaven’t got it among us, and I want tostop these creeds, and find where thereis something that can talk back.”

Bless that woman’s heart. She washungering and thirsting for God.

So she laden these animals withthese gifts, and perhaps she said this:“I’m going up. I ain’t going to takenobody else’s word. I’m going to find

out for myself. If it’s the Truth, I’llsupport it. If it isn’t the Truth, I’llbring my gifts back.”

That’s a good idea. If God’s in it,put everything behind it that you’vegot! Your soul, your heart, your mind, your talent, all that you’ve got, give itto the glory of God. If he isn’t God,then let it alone and find out wherethere is a God. If it isn’t the Truth, letit alone and find out what is Truth.

Then, she had to cross the SaharaDesert. She had a few guards, eunuchsfrom the temple, and a few maids towait on her. Do you know how long itwould take to cross the desert, fromSheba to Jerusalem, by camel? It takes3 months. No wonder Jesus said thatshell stand in the Day of Judgementand condemn this generation! Why,some people in Los Angeles won’tdrive a Cadillac up here to hear aboutit.

Look at what she had to do–comeacross the Sahara Desert on the back ofa camel. But there was something in

“And she gave the king anhundred and twentytalents of gold, and ofspices a very great store, and precious stones: therecame no more suchabundance of spices asthese which the queen ofSheba gave to kingSolomon.”

I Kings 10:10

Page 14: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

her heart, thirsting to find out if therewas a God, and if He lived, and if Helived in His people.

When you get to thirsting like that, there’s nothing going to hold you awayfrom it. I don’t care what they call thepeople. They’ve been called all kindsof names, just as Jesus was called‘Beelzebub.’ It doesn’t make anydifference what the people say, it’swhat God is saying!

So she took off, and there wassomething else she had to confront. The children of Ishmael were on thedesert, fleet-footed riders, robbers, murderers. What a prey that would befor them. That great band of man couldride in on that little company and mopit out in a few moments’ time, andlook at the thousands of dollars ofmoney and wealth she had on thesecamels. Why, it was a setup for them. But do you know what? Because of herfaith and her desire to see the Kingdomof God, God stopped them for her. Hemade a way for her!

And I’ll say to each of you, if yourheart is so hungering and thirsting tocome to God, God will make a way foryou to get to Him. He has always doneit, and He always will.

She never took the second thought. If you take the second thought, andsay, “Now wait a minute. If the HolySpirit would come upon me the way itdoes some of those people, and myboss tomorrow would let out a fewcurse words while standing in my

presence, you mean that I might walkup to him and have to tell him, ‘Nowhere, that’s not right for you to do that. You’re cursing my Lord. I don’tappreciate that.’ He might fire me!”

You just let the Holy Spirit comeon you once. God will take care of therest of it; He’ll have everythingprepared. Don’t take no thought fortomorrow, for tomorrow will takethought for the things of tomorrow.Today is the day.

She was determined. She got onthose camels, and perhaps they had totravel at night, because the desert wasso hot in the day time. Pressing on.Satan on every little mirage out in thedesert saying, “You can’t make it. It’sfalse. There’s no need of going. Why,you’re laughed at, you’reexcommunicated from your church. What if you get up there and startacting like those people? Why thenyou’d be thrown out, sure enough. Andthink of your prestige. You’re a greatperson here in Sheba; you have a greatname. You must remember you’vecome from a great, high standard ofpeople, and here you’re going with abunch of polluted ones up there inIsrael. Why, you shouldn’t do that.”

But she was determined. There wassomething inside of her, moving her.The deep was calling to the deep!Something was calling, and she wasthirsting and hungering for a taste ofthe righteousness of Almighty God.She’d pull through anything to get toit.

Finally, she arrived at the gate. Now she didn’t come to stay just forone night, or sit in and wait ‘till thepastor preached a little bit and saidsomething that was against hertheology and then she’d pick up her

hat and go home. That’s the modern trend of it: “I’ll

go over there, but just let him say onething that’s against our creed. I’ll getright up and (that shows poor raisingto begin with.)

Then, if she’d have said, “I’ll justgo in, and if I don’t like the way theyconduct the services, I’ll take mycamels and turn back,” Jesus neverwould have said about her what Hedid, if she’d had that attitude.

If you come to criticize, the devil’sgoing to show you plenty to criticize. If you come to find fault, the devil’sgoing to show you plenty of fault. Butif you come hungering and thirstingfor God, the angels of God will directyou to the spot to find It.

She unloaded her camels out in theparking lot, and she went in with thisdetermination: “I’m going to stay till Iam satisfied and convinced whetherIt’s right or wrong. I’ve heard aboutthese things, now I’m going in to findout.”

No doubt but what she broughtmany scrolls, readings in the Hebrewlanguage and so forth, of the promisesof this Hebrew God, to see if whatSolomon was talking about wascorresponding to the Scriptures wherethis God had made promises of thesethings. So she had a generalconception of what it was going to be.She had read and found out whatJehovah was, what His Word was:Searcher of the heart, Discerner of thespirit, promising that someday a greatGod-prophet would come that wouldbe the Redeemer, and He’d give giftsto man. She had an idea of what itwould be.

So I can see her comb her hair andfix her clothes just right, to look nice, and she goes into the church (as it wasthat morning), the courts of Solomon. The trumpets were playing and themusic was beautiful, and she sat downto listen.

Page 15: The Lord's Supper - Only Believe Magazine

After a while, out came PastorSolomon, and they had some caseslined up for him. When one camebefore him, what a knowledge ofdiscernment he had. He knew, somehow, what to tell these people.

I can imagine that she kind ofscratched her head and said somethinglike this, “Say, there must besomething to this.”

Another case came, and anothercase. The days passed. Finally herprayer card was called, or she got intothe line. (She was going to wait till hernumber was called, she was just goingto stay there and look it over).

When she got up before Solomon, she looked at him. He was just a man,but the Bible said that there wasnothing hid from Solomon about thewoman! The spirit of discernment wason Solomon, and he told her all thethings that she desired.

What did she say? Did she want toclass him Beelzebub? Certainly not!Even though she was a pagan, heathen, she stood right out amongst all thepeople and she said, “All that I haveheard has been the Truth, and morethan I have heard.”

For she’d seen it with her owneyes, and the miracle had beenperformed on her. She said, “Blessedis the man that stands here by you, dayby day, to see these things happen.Blessed is your cupbearer. Blessed arethose which are associated with you, tostand in your presence and to see thegreat works of the living God.”

Jesus said that because she did that, she’ll stand in the judgement with thatgeneration of theologians, andcondemn them, for she came from theutmost parts of the world to hear thewisdom of Solomon.

…..and, behold, a greater thanSolomon is here.” Solomon just had agift. Jesus was the GIVER of the gift. And the same Jesus, when He was onearth, said, “ … the works that I doshall he do also. “St. John 14:12. “Yeta little while, and the world seeth meno more; but ye see me. . . St. John14:19

… lo, I am with you always, evenunto the end of the world. “Matthew28:20

Not till the ‘age of the apostles’,but ‘the end of the world. “’The worldwon’t see me no more, but ye shall seeme.” How long? Till the end of theworld. Jesus Christ, the sameyesterday, today, and forever.

After two thousand years of Bibleteaching, and of scholars and schoolsteaching it, how are we going toescape the damnation of the wrath ofGod when this generation is called intoview? This nation is ripe forjudgement! We’ll never escape it, andremember I speak in the Name of theLord. WE ARE DOOMED. She’s pastrepentance; she’s gone. The only thingthat the Holy Spirit is trying to do iscall out those children, “Come outfrom among them!”

We’ve had Billy Grahams and OralRoberts and great man who havecrossed this nation and doneeverything in the book, nearly, and thepeople still sit paralyzed.

In Louisville, Kentucky, a fewmonths ago, there was a little lady thatcame through one of the ten-centsstores. She was taking things andshowing them to a little baby that shehad in her arms, about three or fouryears old. The little fellow just sat andstared. After a while, she picked up alittle thing that jingled, and she shookit. The little fellow just stared.

She’d caused such a commotionuntil the people in the store hadnoticed her odd actions. Then she justcollapsed, and she began to scream,Oh no, no, he’s no better!”

Some lovely people walked up andsaid, “What is wrong?”

She said, “My little boy, a fewmonths ago he just sat staring. It justcome on him all at once, and hedoesn’t seem to pay any attention tothe things that he should listen to,things that little boys of his age shouldbe interested in. I took him to thedoctor, and the doctor said he’s better, but he isn’t better!” And she began toweep.

I just wonder if that isn’t somethinglike the Pentecostal church today. Godhas shook every spiritual gift beforethem that He can, trying to attract theirattention, to come together, love oneanother. He prayed that we might beone, that we would love one another.Shaking His gifts, and we sit and look

as if we were paralyzed. She’ll rise in the Day of the

Judgement and condemn thisgeneration, for she came from theutmost parts of the world to hear thewisdom of Solomon, a gift. And yet Isay unto you that a greater thanSolomon is here. Let us pray.

Precious Lord, we are now standingat a crossroads. We’ve been brought toa place to where we must accept it ordiscard it. I pray, God that You’llmake Yourself known to these people, that You are not dead, but You arealive. The God that they worship, theJesus that they love, is walking side byside with them and knows the verythoughts of their heart.

May all unbelievers give theirhearts to Thee, and as we go on ourroad, may we say like those who camefrom Emmaus on that first resurrectionmorning. After Jesus had gotten themtogether and closed the door, He didsomething, just the way He did itbefore His crucifixion. They knew thatno man did it that way but Him, andthey understood, and their eyesopened, and He vanished out of theirsight. And they said, as they hurriedback to tell the others, “Did not ourhearts burn within us as He talked tous along the way?”

Once more Lord! I pray, God, thatYou will once more come into ourmidst so real and so tangible, thatevery person in here may see You dothe works that You did before Yourcrucifixion, and they might know thattheir God lives. We ask it in JesusName, Amen.

PEOPLE WHO DESIRE TO BEPRAYED FOR BY BROTHERBRANHAM ARE CALLED TO THEPLATFORM.

Now, I want you to know clearlythat I am not a divine healer, and I

don’t believe there is one in the world.I believe that divine healing is on thesame basis as salvation: Jesus Christpaid the price of sin at Calvary, and

you cannot touch sin unless you touchsickness, because sickness is an

attribute of sin. Maybe not what youdid, but what somebody did before

you. We never had sickness until we

I hold kosher bread, wrinkledand broken, representing the body ofJesus Christ. Through the riven veil,we have access to the Holiest ofHolies.

Our heavenly Father, this breadhas been prepared to represent thatbroken and torn body. As each of usreceive it, may it be as though weliterally had done this act. May wehave the forgiveness of our sins, andthe access to the Holiest of Holies,to live in your presence in our futurelife, as well as all the days we shalllive here on earth, and be with Youin eternity forever. Grant it Father.Bless this bread for that intendedpurpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Bible said, “After He hadtaken and broke the bread, in likemanner He took the cup, and whenHe had supped, saying, “This is thecup of the New Testament in MyBlood, which is shed for you.” Maythe Lord grant His blessings uponthis as we pray.

Lord Jesus, I hold here the bloodof the vine, the juice from the grape. And Father, it’s to represent thatprecious Blood that cleanses us, thatfrom there came the Token. I thankThee for It, Father, and for thisSymbol. You said, “”He that eatsand drinks this has Everlasting Life, and I’ll raise him up again at theend time.” We thank Thee for thispromise.

Father, we pray that you cleanseour hearts together, and that we willbe worthy by our faith, knowing thatin ourselves we are not worthy butour faith will not fail, and that we’llaccept perfectly the Blood of JesusChrist. Grant it, Father

And sanctify the wine for it’sintended purpose. May whosoeverdrinks this wine, and takes of thisbread, have strength for the journeythat lays ahead. Grant it, Lord.May they be healthy, and strong, and filled with Your Spirit till Jesuscomes. Amen.

KOSHER BREAD

At the time of the Exodus of theIsraelites from Egypt, Scriptures tell usthat they had to take “their dough beforeit was leavened.” Exodus 12:34 Sincethat day, this event has beencommemorated during the Jewishfestival of Passover by the eating ofMatza, unleavened bread.

The word kosher refers to food whichhas been prepared according totraditional Jewish recipes.

1. Flour and water are mixed to form asoft dough.

2. The dough in kneaded slightly, thenrolled very thin on a floured surface.

3. Place the rolled dough in a heavyskillet that has been pre-heated. Nooil is necessary. Pierce dough threeor four times with a fork, so that itwill remain flat as it cooks. Turn thedough once to allow both sides tocook.

A Word Concerning theTaking of Communion

here are three things thatwe must do, as symbols:the Lord’s supper, foot-washing, and water

baptism. and water baptismYou don’t take the Lord’s supper

as a tradition. You take it because itis the love of God in your heart, keeping the commandments of God.That’s what you take it for.

“Except you eat the Flesh of theSon of man and drink His Blood, you have no Life in you.” You see, that’s what the Bible said. Exceptyou do it, there’s no Life. You arethen, more or less, showing that youare ashamed to identify yourself as aChristian, because of the life thatyou live. Then this is really theshowdown. If you don’t do it, youhave no Life. If you do itunworthily, you are guilty of thebody of the Lord.

When we take this, it shows tothe church that “I believe every

Word of God. I believe that He is theBread of Life that comes from Godout of Heaven. I believe every Wordthat He says is the Truth, and I liveby It to the best of my knowledge,God being my Judge. I do not swear,I do not curse, I do not do thesethings, because I love the Lord, andthe Lord knows it and bears merecord. Therefore, before you, mybrothers and my sisters, I take theparcel of His body, to know that Iam not condemned with the world.”

It’s a blessing! I could give manytestimonies on this-where I’ve takenthat and explained it in a sickroom, and I’ve seen them healed.

Remember, when Israel took thetype of this, they journeyed fortyyears in the wilderness and theirclothes never even wore out, andthey came out without one feebleone among them (in two millionpeople). If the body of a sacrificialanimal did that for them, what willthe Body of Jesus Christ,Emmanuel, do for us? Let’s just bereverent when we come to thecommunion table. Let us be just asreverent as we know how.

Wine, continued…

6. Add 1 pound of sugar per gallonof juice. Replace the cheesecloth cover on the jar, and placethe jar on a tray. Unless the jaris very deep, there is a chance ofan overflow once the juicebegins to ‘work’.

7. Each day, for the next 3 days, skim off the foam and graperesidue which will come to thetop of the juice, then sprinkle in1 cup of sugar and replace thecheese cloth cover.

8. After the third day, do not addmore sugar, but continue toskim the juice each day. Afterseveral days, the juice will quit‘working’ and there will benothing to skim from the top.

9. Strain the finished juice (wine)once again through cheese clothand bottle it. The yield shouldbe 1½ to 2 gallons.

This recipe was used by Brother DocBranham for many years at theBranham Tabernacle inJeffersonville. It produces the deepred wine that Brother Branhampreferred to use for communion.

Queen, continued…had sin. When sin came, sickness

followed it. How you can preach theGospel of Salvation and then denydivine healing has been more than Icould ever understand.

If Jesus stood here tonight, in thissuit that He gave me, He could do notone thing towards your healing unlessyou believed it. He proved it in theScripture: “And he did not manymighty works there because of theirunbelief “St. Matthew 13:58

It’s the same tonight. He’s thesame yesterday, today, and forever.

Now the main thing is this, if Hewill come in our midst, and prove thatHe’s in our midst, then that givesevery person an opportunity to ‘lookand live.’

The coming of the Lord is near.

The last sign that is ever shown to anygeneration, before the destructionshappen, the messianic sign is given tothat people. It was given to Abraham, before the destruction of Sodom. Itwas given to the Jews, before Godturned from them. It was given to theSamaritans, before God turned fromthem. Now, there is one people left(from Ham, Shem, and Japheth’speople) and that’s the gentiles. We’vehad two thousand years of theology. We’ve had healings. We’ve hadmiracles all down through there, butnow we’re at the endtime. TheMessiah is drawing closer. The hour isat hand.

Now comes the showdown. IsChrist alive? If He is, He’ll makeHimself known.

Remember, it’s not me. I don’t

know these people who are in theprayer line;

these people don’t know me. Myhand is before God, I don’t know oneof them, and they have raised theirhands, witnessing the same. Sosomething has got to take place ifthese Scriptures are to be made true.

Do you believe that the Son ofGod has risen from the dead and ishere tonight in the form of the HolyGhost? Believe Him. Have faith.

The gift of discernment was manifestedthroughout the 30-year ministry of BrotherWilliam Branham, and every declarationmade was proven to be J00% accurate. Justas He promised He would do in the last days,God vindicated Himself to His people, proving that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

My mother was a housewife. Even though therewere many opportunities for her to haveappropriated a share of the spotlight that was uponher husband’s ministry, and perhaps even achieveda measure of personal fame, she chose to remain athome, in the background, and take care of herchildren.

Among her contemporaries, her very shy demeanorand private lifestyle was a bit unusual. The wives of theother Branham Campaign staff members were veryactively involved in their husbands’ ministries, and theyoften took charge of such tasks as organizing the ushersand volunteer workers, book sales, the music program, and on occasion, they even spoke at the afternoonservices.

In contrast, Mother was usually the last person toarrive before the service began, and the first person toleave when it was over. She would always ask Dad to tellwhoever would be conducting the preliminaries to pleasenot call on her, but still she worried that maybe theywould forget and do the dreaded deed - have her stand upso that everyone could see her.

Mother often said that the only thing she knew how todo was wash and iron clothes. In fact, even when shetraveled she took along a small washboard so that shecould scrub the collars and cuffs of Dad’s white shirts, which she then ironed on the top of a suitcase padded withtowels. We would tease her, saying that she couldn’t stayaway from home any longer than it took for the washingmachine to cool down.

The people that came to know Mother were alwaysimpressed by her very gentle nature, as well as by thewisdom of her counsel. But she also possessed asurprising inner strength, which was vital, as there weretimes when she was virtually alone as she dealt with theproblems of raising her family.

It was only after I had a family of my own that I beganto recognize what a strong and stable anchor she hadprovided for our family through the years. I would look atMother and think, “If only I could be as resolute, and assure of my role as what she is.” That is why I was sosurprised one day when she told me that for many yearsshe had harbored feelings of inadequacy and humiliation.

I had gotten behind in my ironing, a task which I trulydetest, and Mother came to my rescue, as usual. Shegathered up a big bundle of clothes to take to her houseand do for me. I felt guilty, sort of, and to ease myconscience I said to her, “Well, at least you’ll be doingsomething you really enjoy!”

She looked at me for a second, and then said,“Whatever made you think that I enjoy ironing clothes?”

“Well you’re always doing it,” I reminded her, “evenon vacations. Remember the time we were up in themountains of Colorado, staying in that cabin with noelectricity, and you found an old flatiron at the bottom ofthe woodbox? You scrubbed it up, and the next thing weknew you were washing clothes in the creek, drying themon the hitching rail, and ironing with that old flatiron. Youmust love to iron!”

She smiled at me with a little side-ways grin. “No,”she said as she shook her head, “it’s not the ironing that Ilove.”

I could hardly believe my ears. This was the womanthat often ironed socks, shoestrings and even washcloths! She must have noted the bewildered look on my face, andshe began to relate to me this story:

“I began ironing for the public when I was about tenyears old. I ironed twelve stiffly starched men’s whiteshirts every day, and I had to stand right next to the woodstove, summer and winter, in order keep the two flatironshot. Right then I learned to hate ironing, but I had to helppay our way, and it was what I could do best.
