The FactsNearly 1 million people are living with a blood cancer
in the United States.Leukemia is the leading cause of cancer death
of children and young adults under the age of 20.There are
currently no cures for blood cancers. There is no detection.
What: Angel Fire Resort in Angel Fire, New Mexico is hosting the
Inaugural Texas Shootout Team Tennis Tournament. It will be held on
August 17 & 18, 2013. This is to benefit LLS. The Cowboys will
play all day Saturday ,and the Cowgirls will play all day Sunday. A
team match consists of 3 doubles matches. The team must win 2 out
of 3 matches for a team victory. How Your Dollars Are Used In
fiscal year 2012, LLS supported research in the U.S., Canada, and 9
other countries with a total research disbursement of approximately
$68.4 million. Education: LLS serves as the worlds foremost source
of information on blood cancers. Programs include an Information
Resource Center, an extensive collection of free educational
materials, professional education and an award-winning web
site.
Advocacy: LLSs advocacy program has a strong voice in Congress,
representing the healthcare and medical research interests of
patients and their families to policy makers at all levels of
government.
