KLC football players earn honors By Kevin Struck The Kohler-Sheboygan Lu- theran-Sheboygan Christian high school football team finished 4-4 in the Big East Conference this fall, earning its second straight WIAA playoff appearance, where they fell to top seeded Sheboygan Falls. Statistically, the team’s offense ranked third out of 11 Big East teams in total yardage gained. The defense also ranked third. Several players earned all-con- ference honors, as selected by the coaches. The First Team Offense included quarterback Brayden Van Ess and receiver Luke Hein- en. Van Ess was second in the league in passing yardage, while throwing 15 touchdown passes. He added another 14 touchdowns running the ball, while rushing for 1,033 yards, second best in the conference. Heinen easily led the league in receptions with 48, in- cluding five touchdowns. A Second Team Offense selec- tion, Caleb Rhan, anchored an offensive line that helped make much of the scoring totals possi- ble. Levi Modahl, who caught 33 passes and ranked eighth in the league with 385 receiving yards, was Honorable Mention (Of- fense). On the defensive side of the ball, Caleb Rahn (defensive tack- le), Levi Modahl (linebacker), and Zach Hendrikse (defensive back), were named to the Second Team Defense. Kohler Co. to renovate The American Club parking structure and lot in 2018 KOHLER, Wis.–Thirteen months from now, Kohler Co. will begin the renewal of its underground and above ground parking struc- ture that serves the American Club resort hotel. It was built 35 years ago and enables the five- star, five-diamond hotel to shelter clientele while removing parked vehicles from the landscape. The hotel and restaurants in the building will be closed during the month of January 2018, but then will begin to reopen Fridays and Saturdays in February and March; with all operations reopened by mid-year ’18. “Our temporary closing will en- able us to work on the renovation project without impacting guests and, when we are far enough along in the process, we will re- open restaurants to their regular hours and about two-thirds of our hotel rooms until the project is complete. We are excited to ele- vate our lodge offering in such a major way for our guests,” said Christine Loose, Group Director of Lodging for Kohler Co. During the resurrection of the parking structure, the 55-room an- nex to The American Club called the Carriage House will remain open as will River Wildlife, Riv- erbend, Cucina, Craverie, Kohler Waters Spa and the golf course restaurants at Destination Kohler. Kohler’s Inn on Woodlake cur- rently is undergoing an expansion that will be completed in Decem- ber 2017. It will add a combina- tion of 4-bedroom and 2-bedroom units along with additional single rooms. Each multi-bedroom unit will have a common living room and space where guests can enjoy each other’s company after a day of activities. In Green Bay Wisconsin, 60 miles to the north, Kohler Co. will be completing in July 2017, a new four-diamond hotel concept called Lodge Kohler. Adjacent to Lambeau Field, it is an informal partnership with the Green Bay Packers. This carefully planned cycle of renewal is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to enhance the overall experience for guests of its hospitality business. Harvest Homecommitted to making “old age” betterReprinted from The Review We interviewed Beth Pahmei-er, owner and administrator of Harvest Home Assisted Living in Howards Grove. Pahmeier is proud to share that she and her husband, Fred Pahmeier, opened Harvest Home in the summer of 2006 and have been serving How-ards Grove and the surrounding community ever since, celebrating 10 years in the business. Beth has been working in senior long term care for over 25 years as a dietitian and administrator for large corpo-rations and loves the opportunity to better serve the senior popula-tion as a small business owner. Harvest Home began in How-ards Grove as an 8-bed CBRF (community based residential facility) in 2006 and has since moved its location to 2003 Apple-tree Road in Howards Grove in 2012 and expanded to two 8-bed CBRF homes that serve seniors and those with memory loss/de-mentia. Each building is home to 8 residents who have private bedrooms with private bathrooms. Now by 2017, we will be adding two more 8-bed homes specializ-ing in dementia care. Pahmeier says, “At Harvest Home, we recognize that we may not be able to cure diseases or fix all for the problems that come with ‘old age’, but we strongly believe that we can help people better manage them. Our tag line states: Where the Aging live with Purpose and Grace. We stand be-hind this mission and daily pro-

Children to lead service at Grace UCC on December 18 Grace UCC invites the public to join them in several special ser-vices. On December 18, during the 10:00 a.m. service, the chil-dren of the Church School and the Children’s choir will present a proclamation of good news centered around the Christmas story. With costumes, readings, drama and song, the Christmas story will be presented as never before. Come celebrate the good news of Christ through the eyes of children.Christmas Eve Services at Grace UCC The people of Grace United Church of Christ, 500 School Street, in Kohler and The Rev-erend Thomas M. Schroeder are pleased to announce the Christ-mas Eve service schedule for 2016. Christmas Eve will find Grace United Church of Christ offering two distinct services. The 6:30 p.m. service will be designed to help younger chil-dren experience the true meaning of this night. This service will

include a Christmas story, car-ols, anthems and candles. The Sr. Choir of Grace UCC, under the direction of Audrey Braatz, will enhance the readings with sever-al anthems. The 9:30 p.m. service will be a traditional service of carols and readings. This service will look at the promised light of God from creation to Christ. It will include the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight. It will conclude with the true meaning of “O Holy Night.”Christmas Day service at Grace UCC Grace UCC will hold a service of worship on Christmas Day, December 25th at 10:00 a.m. The service will help to identify who this child is that is born to the world. We will celebrate God’s love for all people, as we sing fa-vorite carols marking this day. It truly is a day for all to celebrate and the people of Grace UCC in-vite the public to join them onthis momentous occasion.

New Year’s Day service at Grace UCC On New Year’s Day (January 1) the people of Grace UCC will gather to celebrate the gift before us as we enter the new year at a 10:00 a.m. service of worship. The service will help guide us in the year to come and ask God to walk with us in this new endeav-or. As everyday is a gift of God, so too, we celebrate the begin-ning of the year as God’s gift to all. The Sacrament of Holy Com-munion will be celebrated and all who are with us are invited to join us at the table. As Jesus in-vited all his disciples to join him, Grace UCC also invites all to join Jesus at the table. The public is always invited to join the people of Grace Church in events like this or at other times of the year. The people of Grace UCC in Kohler worship regularly on Sunday mornings at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m.

mote this goal by planning activi-ties designed with each resident’s interests and abilities in mind. We are committed to making ‘old age’ better!” As for the two new 8-bed homes coming in January, 2017 – they will specialize further in the moderate and end-stage de-mentia, with secured doors and enclosed courtyards. All staff will be experienced and trained in dementia care. Pahmeier says they are working closely with the building contractors to have the latest home design for mem-

ory care. Some techniques that Harvest Home uses currently and will continue to use are aroma therapy, music therapy, validation technique and separate senso-ry stimulation rooms along with simplified activities - just to name a few. Harvest Home is involved in the Dementia Care Network and Continuum of Care Coalition for Sheboygan County. “We are committed to providing dementia education and awareness for the community in which we serve,” says Pahmeier.

We invite you to join our team for the Alzheimer’s Walk, check out our website at harvesthomewi.com and look for us on Facebook!! We are looking for caring staff for our new build-ings as well. As for availability and room reservations either now or in the future, you can call Beth anytime at 920-901-9482 for a personal tour or for more infor-mation. You can also stop in at 2003 and 2005 Appletree Road in Howards Grove.
