OverviewThe Jurassic period, 206 to 144 MYA. Its 54 million years of the Mesozoic Era.It gets its name from the Jura mountains on the border between France and Switzerland.( where rocks of this age were first studied)Where on present day earth can u find Jurassic fossils?( Blue Nile Gorge, Ethiopia).(Solnhofen limestone, Germany.Great plant-eating dinosaurs roaming the earth, feeding on lush ferns and palm-like cycads and bennettitaleans smaller but vicious carnivores stalking the great herbivores oceans full of fish, squid, and coiled ammonites, plus great ichthyosaurs and long-necked plesiosaurs vertebrates taking to the air.-University of California Museum of Paleontology.

Jurassic PangaeaDuring the Early Jurassic Pangaea was beginning to break up between Africa, modern America, and South America.

By Mid Jurassic, rifts were opening up the Central Atlantic Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico formed North America and Eurasia began to spread forming the North Atlantic Ocean.Conditions, climate was relatively warm and moist over much of Northern America.
