Luckily Jess and Chris have a cooler full of beer, a goofy rapport, a series of dance moves - and a sincere desire to make you, the audience, happy. Or so they claim.

Each claims the other’s a liar. That they only met last year. And that they are eyewitnesses to the key world events of the last hundred years.

A hilarious and unsettling examination of what it means to be a tuned-in, delusional and unwitting consumer in a hyper-communicative world.

In 2009 Dan Canham (Kneehigh, DV8, Punchdrunk, Fabulous Beast) made a film in a rotting, dilapidated theatre in Limerick, Ireland.

Using that film as source material, this original piece of dance-theatre is an eloquent, heartbreaking elegy for a lost and ruined theatre. A performance of fragments of memories, of wild nights and long-disappeared communities. It evokes the life of a once-mighty building and asks what is left when a theatre closes its doors to the public.

Vertigo is a surprising tale of two young people struggling to keep their balance as their lives spin out of control.

Live music and nostalgic ramblings combine in this intimate piece. Two solo performers become unlikely friends and tell their stories of growing up and moving forward. Real life comedy tales and informal direct address place this show somewhere in between madcap theatre-presentation and observational comedy performance. The (Kindling) Project has been created by Night Light Theatre to support, develop and promote new work and emerging artists. This production is directed by Rich Rusk and written by the performers (Philippa Hogg and Tom Penn).

The Table is a visual feast of adult puppetry including a ballet of disembodied heads, a story told entirely with pieces of paper emerging from a briefcase, and a tiny puppet Moses with a cardboard head full of lonely wisdom. Blind Summit employ their trademark ‘extreme puppetry’ style, dark Beckettian humour and flat-pack technology, to give you a theatrical experience like no other.

Join live art duo Jenny Hunt & Holly Darton for an interactive performance that blends art with the every day.

Run as a fully functioning café and micro-venue, Hunt & Darton will creatively expose the inner workings of their new business venture by considering and presenting everything as Art. From the food that is served to the people who serve it, from the décor to the profit and loss sheets, everything will be served with a twist. Prepare for appetites to be satisfied in more ways than one. Hunt & Darton Café is part of Live Art Collective East. Supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Developed and presented with support from Escalator Live Art, The Junction and Changing Spaces. Produced by Artsadmin.

After a sold out Edinburgh run and a UK and European tour of her first solo show Running on Air, comedian and storyteller Laura Mugridge returns to Cambridge with the very first scratch performance of her second show.

During a week’s residency at The Junction, Laura will be working with longform improviser Katy Schutte, looking at fictional storytelling, marking a shift away from her previous autobiographical work, and creating intimacy with an audience in a theatre space.

Hugh Hughes, Cambridge’s favourite emerging Welsh artist is continuing to work on his new project. He’s granting audiences three exclusive work-in-progress glimpses of the project as it moves towards completion in the Autumn.

In Stories from an Invisible Town, Hugh is sharing his memories of his childhood in Langefni, Anglesey. As there are hundreds of stories to tell, he’s still in the process of remembering them all and so each performance can be a very different experience.

Hugh would be delighted if you could join him to help shape the final piece.

There will be tasters from artists in the line-up including Michael Pinchbeck’s The Beginning;Pinchbeck remembers his first performance and waits in the wings as if it is that time again. Inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this is the second in a trilogy of works taking Shakespearean stage directions as starting points for performance.

NIE: Clown On Stage

Work on playfulness and the actor’s presence.

Who am I on stage and am I funny?

Work on theatre clown as a basis for improvised performance and devising.

This Master Class led by NIE’s Artistic Director, Alex Byrne will explore the physical preparation of the body for performance through work on pure and expressive movement and the playfulness of the actors in performance through games and group work. Alex will explore work in red noses as a way to access emotions, material and playfulness.

Alex Byrne, as well as directing international touring work for NIE, has taught workshops in Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Russia, Bosnia and the UK. He trained at Central School of Speech and Drama in London and at Ecole Phillipe Gaulier in London.

Sat 03 Mar Blind Summit Theatre: More Extreme Puppetry

Blind Summit Theatre are innovators leading a UK revolution in adult puppetry. The company is renowned for reinventing Japanese Bunraku style (three-man operated) puppets, which interact with performers.

Co-Artistic Director, Mark Down, writes, directs and performs in Blind Summit shows including - Fringe First winning The Table, an extraordinary adaptation of 1984 and world touring Low Life. He has created a new style of performing with puppets that is charismatic, highly physical and character driven.

Building on the success of and techniques explored in 2011 Master Class Extreme Puppetry, this is an extended opportunity to work with Mark Down and take creative ideas to the next stage. Focusing on making a show with puppetry, this workshop is suitable as a follow up to Extreme Puppetry and an introduction for new participants.
