Dear Readers,The 2017 has begun wi th a lo t o f news, new pro jects and the rea l izat ion of products wi th a un ique des ign. In th is issue we are go ing to present a few of them. The Design week is coming and we’ l l g ive a look at our insta l la t ions in Mi lan and the products we are go ing to present .Last year our magaz ine obta ined a st rong in terest f rom our readers and the requests have increased so th is is the conf i rmat ion of what I ’ve a lways be l ieved: a good qual i ty communicat ion is the bas is for any re la t ion and we t r y to do i t a t the best leve ls. W i th our communica-t ion we t r y to g ive emot ions, emot ions through s imple images of products that have been obta ined f rom the process ing of raw mater ia ls , s tee l and UHPC, a l l made in I ta ly.

In 2013 the Zaha Hadid Arch i tects f i rm, wi th 246 em-ployed arch i tects, ranked the 3º in the Arch i tect Jour-na l .

The products rea l ized and marketed by THE ITALIAN LAB des igned by ZHD are SERAC BENCH – CL BENCH s ing le and double.

As an arch i tect and a des i-gner, the work of Zaha Hadid has explored concepts of wide range, f rom a c i ty to the s ing le product- scu lptu-ra l jewels, l imi ted edi t ion furn i ture, household ar t i -c les, fash ion i tems and accessor ies and a lso, as an in ter ior des igner, exh ib i t ions and scener ies on commis-s ion.Under the d i rect ion of Woody Yao and Maha Kutay, ZHD has been estab l ished in 2006 to implement the last

Dur ing last term of 2016 we have s igned an exc lus iv i ty agreement between THE ITALIAN LAB and ZAHA HADID DESIGN Ltd for the product ion of 3 products des igned dur ing 2012 by the famous arch i tect Zaha Hadid (Baghdad, 31st October 1950 – Miami, 31st March 2016)

Zaha Hadid was an I raq i born Br i t ish des igner and arch i tect .She rece ived the Pr i tzker Pr ize in 2004 ( f i rs t woman to win i t ) and the St i r l ing Pr ize in 2010 and 2011. She had been one of the leaders and member at the h ighest leve l o f the decon-st ruct iv ism t rend. In 2010 The Time has inc luded her in the l is t o f the 100 most in f luent ia l personal i t ies of the wor ld.

SERAC

Developed as an urban scu lpture for seat ing and rest ing, the Serac Bench seam-less ly in tegrates wi th i ts context . I ts s t r ia ted ar t icu la t ions emerge f rom the land-scape, each layer tak ing i ts own un ique t ra jectory in react ion to la tent forces that d isperse - and u l t imate ly coa lesce – the many st ra ta of the bench to generate i ts overa l l formal composi t ion. The des ign red iscovers the f lu id, cont inuous nature of Hadid 's work - exp lor ing re la t ionsh ips between so l id and vo id, ob ject and ground, form and funct ion; an evo lut ionary l ineage that is ev ident throughout her reper to i -re.The benches has been deve loped in Ul t ra High Per formance Concrete, a tough and durable mater ia l that when shaped in to a more curvaceous form, t rans i t ions in to a sof ter, f lu id and tact i le sur face.

The 2017 has many events dedicated to the Design, and cons ider ing how important is for THE ITALIAN LAB the des ign theme , th is year too wi l l take par t in severa l loca-t ions and count r ies.Dur ing the event «Fuor isa lone» 2017 the new showroom “open a i r ” w i l l be presented, the locat ion is the outdoor of Copern ico Mi lan c i ty cent re, via Copernico, 38 Milan . In th is occas ion we wi l l expose the CL BENCH and SERAC BENCH des igned by Zaha Hadid and the par t icu lar seats wi th tab le URBAN SHELTER des igned by MARTIN SOLEM .

Urban Shel ter, a creat ion of des igner Mar t in Solem, is a bench for the people of the c i ty. I t can be used in the dome-st ic market as wel l , but i t was des igned to be p laced in publ ic parks, that Mr Solem cons iders as rea l gardens for the c i t i zens. W i th i ts shape and const ruct ion type, th is bench g ives people the poss ib i l i ty to take a break f rom the i r busy dayt i -me, and for sure is a lso a p lace where to meet people. I ts po lygonal shape g ives stab i l i ty to the seat ing, a back sup-por t , and a natura l cover. The bench can be used a lso as a p icn ic tab le, i t can be used to s i t down and ta lk , or even to take a snap in the RELAX vers ion! You can f ind the d i f ferent models in our cata logue. There ’s now a new vers ion (2017) wi th LED l ight ing.

UHPC:Wood finishing andcustomised realisations

The outstanding qua l i ty o f our mix ture for the UHPC concrete pro-duct ion, a l lowed us to deve lop a f in ish ing wi th ext raord inary deta i ls , the last o f a l l is the wood f in ish ing.

W i th th is mix ture we rea l ise cover ing for façades both outdoor and indoor, pavements and st reet furn i ture e lements.

Our goa l is to rep lace natura l wood for two s imple reasons: to pro-tect the Nature and to reduce the maintenance.For the same reason in the past we deve loped the leather f in ish ing which is s t i l l par t o f our product ion and a leading e lement of our co l lect ion.

The pro ject inc ludes an area of around 5,2 km seaf ront , wi th an important pedest r ian area and severa l green spaces, equipped beaches and p laygrounds for ch i ldren.

which features a l l the pro ject . The seats des igned by Zaha Hadid, CL Bench, s ing le and double, wi l l be par t o f the pro ject too. They wi l l be pos i t ioned the cent ra l area of the seas ide, g iv ing th is way even more prest ige to the pro ject . A l l the furn i ture has been rea l ised wi th our h igh per formance UHPC concrete, made in our f i rm of Pordenone- I ta ly. Another pecul ia r i ty o f our s t reet furn i ture is the addi t ion of USB por ts, to recharge mobi les and tab lets, inc luded in 400 on 1000 seats.

Bes ides the st reet furn i ture, we wi l l produce and supply the «CLADDINGS», cover ings of co lumns, rea l i zed in UHPC.

She doesn’ t need to be in t roduced: Zaha Hadid, I raq i arch i tect winner of the Pr i tzker Pr ize in 2004 and the Syt i r l ing Pr ize in 2010 and 2011. Luck i ly, she has le f t some t races even in I ta ly ; her most famous I ta l ian work is MAXXI , the Nat iona l Museum of 21st Century Ar ts in Rome, rea l ized in 2010. The museum stands out for i ts s inuous and f lee ing shapes that br ing the v is i tor in a f lowing and non l inear journey leading to the f ive rooms, in a success ion of s ta i rs , landscapes and a is les.

The d i rect ions are in ter-sected in a wide area, deve-loped hor izonta l ly wi th a smal l he ight . Maxx i is deve-loped in three layers; in the lowest one, the externa l crossovers fo l low the s inuo-

s i ty of the shapes of the per imeter. The ha l l w i l l amaze the v is i tors: i t is a 20m h igh area that shows to the v is i tor i ts meta l s ta i rs and ga l le r ies and the labyr in th of passages in the whi te and grey background of the cement in p la in s ight . In the ground f loor there is a huge audi tor ium. The second f loor is more com-plex wi th br idges that con-nect the d i f ferent ga l le r ies. The l ight that comes f rom above, the futur is t ic cement used and the g lass ef fect res in outs ide make the bu i l -d ing an arch i tecton ic expe-r ience to l i ve.

Another bequest is the Mes-sner Mounta in Museum in P lan de Corones, rea l i zed in 2015.

Complex geometr ica l shapes, rea l i zed wi th con-crete that d ia logue wi th the mounta in through bumps that of fer a breathtak ing v iew on the va l ley. The Museum is deve loped main ly underground, on three f loors, wi th the except ion of the smal l a rea of the ha l l that is located on the ground. Cascade sta i rs car r y the v is i tor through the layers unt i l the rea l d isp lay area. Going down, par t o f the arch i tecture is enc losed in the mounta in of fer ing un ique panoramas that are showed of f f rom outs ide as geome-t r ica l bumps f rom the ground, t ied wi th a un ique thread between arch i tectu-re, the main theme of the museum, and env i ronment.

The Venice Passenger Terminal, port for cruise ships from al l around the world, in February has been furnished with our recycl ing bins “RECY NAVY”.

The b in “Recy Navy” is the news of our cata logue 2017 and i t ’s ava i lab le the in ter ior vers ion wi th ad justab le studs and the outdoor vers ion wi th UHPC basement, ra in protect ion cover and ash t ray.

Th is b in has some features l ike the open s ide made for secur i ty reasons, to permi t to check the content of the t ransparent bags. In the same s ide, through te lescopic bars the suppor t for the bag can be pu l led out . I t has 2 e lements, a f ixed one and a mobi le one to f ix the bag. On the body of the b in, through laser cut we’ve rea l ized the p ictograms of the waste and the customer “VTP” brand. Colours upon choice.
