Work Group Status & Background
Future Trends and Innovation
Approved Scope • Utilization of the PODS Pipeline Data Model during the design and construction phases
both onshore and offshore. • Identify all “states”, key surveys and the essential data elements that should be
collected at each stage of the process. • Perform a gap analysis between project data and current PODS data model. • Describe how pipeline stationing and centerline representation is managed through a
project lifecycle. • Proposed scope and deliverables for a Phase 2 set of activities. Approved Deliverables • A new pipeline project data document describing all the data requirements during each
stage of the design and construction process. • A survey data requirements document for each key survey identified. • A document describing in detail the results from the gap analysis study to include
recommendations on the type of modification needed to the PODS model, including new tables, or additions to existing tables to bridge the gaps identified.
• A Draft Phase 2 PODS Workgroup charter for consideration by the Board

Phase I Deliverables
Future Trends and Innovation
PODS Modifications • 7 New Modules: Construction, Civil, Environmental, Exploration, Geotechnical, Project,
Survey • 205 New Tables • 15 existing tables with Modifications Pipeline Project Database • 400 tables involved during a New Pipeline Construction Project • 179 existing PODS tables with No Modifications • 49 tables transition into the Operator's database Technical Committee Feedback • Compressive, detailed, no major issues • Overlaps and missing definitions to be resolved with guidance between both TC and SME
groups
Phase II & Next Steps
Future Trends and Innovation
Scope & Objectives Phase II will: • Recommend the best organization of new tables into independent modules for
addition to the PODS 6.X schema, and provide complete documentation for these additional tables.
• Provide important and practical guidance to The PODS Technical Committee. • Evaluate options to serve as the lowest common denominator software tool to allow
users in all phases of the project to digitally collect information for export to a PODS database.
• Discuss challenges associated with field data collection, and discuss several considerations for managing these workflows.
Leadership and Charter Submittal • Charter pending Board feedback • Continued Work Group Organization

Baseline of a Construction Contract
Captains : Maurizio Truscello – Bonatti SpA (contractor), Jochen Stieler – e.on (client) Objectives : • Introduce a new approach or method to manage the challenges and risks
associated with a new project. • Introduce a “Cost Effective” Risk Management.
Future Trends and Innovation
Baseline of a Construction Contract
Assumptions :
• The order of risk magnitude in output to Front End Loading Phase related to facility planning (FEL 2) can be assumed +/-30%. So an early involvement of EPC CONTRACTOR in the FEL 2 can be very cost effective and guarantee a lowest residual risk during the operational phase.
• The priorities of investors and contractors are : cost effective and predictable,
efficient during operational phase and an efficient risk management system.
• Early CONTRACTOR’s mitigation will reduce risks and costs.

Baseline of a Construction Contract
Outcomes: • The risk sharing contract consists on including in the offer or contract a risk
sharing matrix including the estimated risk values to be borne by client or contractor in the event of an arising risk.
• This matrix will include the estimated value or a percentage of the value to be assumed/ shared by each to the parties, in order to avoid further disputed change orders.
• The risk sharing contract consists on method that aligns the interests of the client and the contractor to build the project in a collaborative way.

CostOS Estimating Software
– Supports measurements on PDF, TIFF, JPEG, DWG, DGN and DXF drawings
– Multiuser and enables numerous estimators to work on the same project
– Produces analytical document of the measurements – Supports definition of custom measurements such as ducts area,
slab rebar, etc. – o Quantities are fully synchronized with the BOQ / Estimate – o Quantities can be associated with CostOS Parametric Models – o On-Screen Takeoff On Center – Apart from CostOS 2D,
CostOS is also integrated with on-screen – take-off from On Center software. – Among the many impressive facets to this software are its
graphical user interface, resource cost databases

PipeSak Pipe Pillow Evaluation by PRICE GREGORY
• When considering long-term integrity requirements as a significant concern for pipeline owners, more of an engineered approach needed to be developed for in-trench supports of pipelines. This is why PipeSak Inc. developed the PipePillo. The PipePillo is a structured pipeline pillow (SPP) designed to achieve this long-term integrity concern for in-trench pipeline support.

• The SPP’s are a time saver and very effective in cutting down on man power requirements when compared to setting fabrication up on skids.
• The SPP’s are cost efficient in the trench installation, placing piping underground. The support the pipe well when properly spaced and they have a contour to them that allows for more of the piping to rest on versus setting the piping on a flat concrete rest block which also requires rock shield installation between the rest block and the pipe.
• The SPP’s are light but surprisingly strong and much easier to move for fine adjustments side to side and or in height as opposed to wooden skids.”
