THE IIPS CHRONICLE Newsletter of International Indian Public School - Riyadh iipschronicle@ gmail.com Principal’s Message From time immemorial ‘the wheel of fire’ at the centre of our being has been turning impersonally and inflaming our otherwise indolent spirit and bursting forth into creativity. “We can learn by copying what others do. It is a good way of learning. But it also means we will always be behind them. If we want to be ahead, we must also learn by trying new ways. By experimenting and watching what happens. The point is to Learn by Doing. Don’t just talk. Don’t just think. Do!” I believe this is also the philosophy we should adopt when it comes to learning. Schooling is not about doing the right thing or getting the necessary grades. It is about becoming self-motivated by the desire to learn. Education is about bringing up ourselves to the full potential. And we can only achieve this if we make it a point to experiment and see what happens when we learn of the realities of life. Learning is important, and should be for life. The joy of learning and understanding something is far more rewarding than the grades we see on paper. “Reach for the Stars!” We want you all to strive for your very best, seek opportunities and recognize and celebrate your strengths. Principal - K. M. Abdul Aziz Chairman’s Words The feeling of having belonged to the school comes only after leaving school and one tends to appreciate this general feeling of “belonging” and of being wanted which is so necessary for our happiness. At school age, we seem to take everything for granted, whether we are a part of a class, house, group, sports team, or yes, even a part of a family. My advice to you is to be your own self, weigh up the positives and negatives, desire and achieve high standards, be proud of yourselves, your home and your school and do not take the easy way out. The student today, as an individual, is a real person with feelings of self-respect, sensitivity, responsibility and compassion. Let us recognize, appreciate, applaud and foster the habit of working in group activities which shall put us on the path of becoming shining stars of the future. Each should contribute in some way to the good name of the school and you should see that what you give to the school is worth giving – work hard, play hard, give your best at all times – do nothing which will harm your school’s good will. Establish your school in your hearts and in your minds as something of which you can be really proud. As the school has given you so much and now it shall be your turn to become a giver. A school cannot buy its spirit as it buys textbooks, nor can it have this spirit supplied as basic equipment. Your school is YOU and your reputation is ITS reputation. My message is a simple one. To all of you I say: “Participate in your school activities. Use your talents to the utmost and bring laurels to your school with your actions. It is pleasing to note that while the cultural and sporting aspects of the school have reached such high standards, the academic side of the school has not been neglected and good results are expected in the upcoming annual examinations. May I express my personal thanks and appreciation to all on behalf of the MC team who have cooperated in helping the school with its many needs, including but not limited to teaching and non-teaching staff. PATIENCE“If I ever made any valuable discoveries it has owed more to patient attention than to any other talent.” Sir Isaac Newton. Among all essential virtues, in human beings, patience has an important place in our lives. Patience is a virtue every man and woman should strive to have. Without it, things can go terribly wrong, where with a little patience it could very well have gone your way. “A very little thief of occasion will rob you a great deal of patience.”Many times bad experience often helps build a bad character. If you are always rushing through things without sticking around for better results, how can you learn from your mistakes?

Impatience will earn you a lot of regrets in life. “He that can have patience can have what he wills.”Patience moves our minds away from frustrations, expectations and aligns us with reality. When we are patient, our energy is available to make good things happen. Patience comes with confidence, decisiveness, a rational outlook on different things all these can definitely lead to success. Patience is a companion of wisdom that no one can take away from you. God can bless you in a variety of ways and patience is an example to obtain his blessings. Patience allows us to turn failure into success. It avoids the needless worry and anxiety. It teaches us the value of effort. So let us imbibe this virtuous quality in ourselves.

A Lesson found in the mirror............I recall years ago standing before the mirror getting ready, as my beloved 5 year old son watched me intensely without blinking an eye. I paused for a moment and looked into the mirror to see my son, as my son looked into the mirror to see me.

As I looked at him I saw what I had been and as he looked at me he saw what he would one day become. And there we stood, awestruck by God’s greatness, looking at what time would do and undo.

Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not guaranteed. Today is the moment to make deposits into the life of your child.

Children are like “arrows in the hands of a warrior”. Before projecting an arrow, a warrior sharpens the point; he then ensures that the shaft is straight, solid and strong. He then fixes his eyes on the target...pulls the bow and shoots the arrow with absolute accuracy and definition.

Parents are the warriors and their children the arrows. But how will an arrow be projected into destiny if the warriors are nowhere to be found.

God has called you to be that warrior, so be true and rise up, take your arrows, seek His wisdom, fix your eyes on your targets and shoot them into the bright destiny of their lives.............

My sisterI like my sweet little sister,Who always likes to pester,For one thing or the other. But she looks like my mother.I like to play with her,And she likes to play with me.But when I play pranks on her,She loses her temper. When we tell her to sleep,She covers the blanket and peeps. She is good at her studies,And she’s the best of all her buddies.

Vice Principal’s Message“ If you cannot be the ‘Sun’ be a ‘Star’ But be the best, whatever you are.”

Every child is inherent with some inborn qualities. The essence of education lies in drawing out the very best in a child and that has been our constant endeavor. We should broaden our vision, strengthen our impulses and widen our sympathies towards the students as they are the future torch bearers.

The purpose of life is to make difference during our lifetime on the earth. Possessing the right attitudes in life is of utmost importance. Happiness and contentment can surely be our share, if we cultivate the habit of looking at the bright side of life. So, continue your work with dedication, devotion, conviction, perseverance and strength. Believe in yourself, have faith in the Almighty and success will surely come your way.

Mr. Raheemuddin

SUPERVISOR SAYS ………..This world is your kaleidoscope.

As you think, so you do. That’s why it is said that man is the product of his own thinking. Always have a high thinking and translate it into reality with your firm faith in the Almighty, determination and hard work. Man is such a creation of the Almighty whose success is inevitable if he comes into action with firm faith in the Almighty. Be bold and courageous; invest your energy for your aim, and success will be at your feet. So, never lose your heart and hope. Be confident and stride towards the goal of your life.

Wish you all the best!!!
