(Thats where you are right now).Stage Two: Hypnotic Language Patterns - Once you understand the fundamental aspects of hypnosis and how it can be applied to persuasive communication you then learn the techniques involved in hypnotic language patterns. Hypnotic language patterns are copy & paste templates you can use when speaking to others to make them more receptive to your message. Stage Three: Street Hypnosis - This is where you learn to put what youve learned to the test by using the techniques in live communication with others. Stage Four: Conversational Hypnosis - This is where all of your knowledge becomes magnified. Here you learn the art of using hypnosis in everyday conversational settings to gain compliance from others. Hypnosis RecapWhat is hypnosis?Hypnosis is a heightened state of focus and mental awareness. The humanbrainislikeacameraanditcanshiftitsfocuscontinually, depending on the situation.Whenapersonbecomestrulyengagedinanactivity,heentersa natural state of self-hypnosis. Self-hypnosis can occur countless times throughout the day and people willingly enter this mental state.This brings us to three important points:1. No one can force you into a state of self-hypnosis.2.Noonecanhypnotizeyoutodothingsthatareagainstyour values and moral codes.3. Hypnosis is safe for the mind and does not require the use of any drugs or mind-altering substances. Hypnosisisoftenportrayedinthemediaandpopularcultureasa magical way of getting people to do things for you.6The Hypnotic Language FormulaWhat many people dont understand is that it is simply an effective way to directly communicate with the human mind.Itworksbecauseithelpsincreasethemindsawarenesstothepoint thatthemindisusingmostofitsavailableresourcestofocusona singular event or point in time.If you think about it, that does sound magical, doesnt it? Like the tools that you use when you fix your car, there is a formula ormethodforapplyinghypnoticlanguagepatternsforthepurpose of persuading or influencing another person or a group of people.It is unfortunate that most of the time, people use hypnotic language patternscarelesslyandwithoutanystructureormethodinvolved. What usually happens is that would-be influencers randomly use one pattern after the other, hoping that at least one of them would do the trick. How does the mind resist persuasion?Thebrainssecretweaponagainstweakpersuasiontacticsisits wakingfilters.Thesefiltersprotectthesubconsciousmindfrom becomingeasilyinfluencedbypotentiallyharmfulideasfromthe environment.Inordertopersuadesomeone,youneedtogetpast thesewakingfiltersandthesubconsciousmindsseparatelineof defenses (e.g. values, beliefs, ethics, etc.) While its true that the mind is potent, it does have its weaknesses (which we will be discussing shortly!) It took a while to meld the two worlds in a single, simple blueprint that could be applied to any situation that you may find yourself in.Afterseveralyearsofcriticalrefinement,itisfinallyhere:myvery own Six-Step Hypnotic Language Formula. What is the Six-Step Hypnotic Language Formula?TheSix-StepHypnoticLanguageFormulaisamethodofapplying hypnoticlanguagepatterns.Itensuresoptimumuseofpatternsso thatyoucancreatethebestoutcomesineveryinteraction.It effectively combines the domain of clinical hypnosis and the world of influence in a meaningful and powerful way because you dont have toattendexpensiveseminarsanddriveacrossthecity(orstate)to benefit from it.Why?Because Im revealing the blueprint right here, right now! 10The Hypnotic Language FormulaThe Six-Step Hypnotic Language Formula Step One: The SwitchEverypersononthisplanetisequippedwithabasicsetofdefenses againstinfluenceandpersuasion.Imaginethesedefensesasbeing composedofseverallayers,allleadingtothecoreofthemindthe subconscious.Thesubconsciousisthemostvulnerablepartofthe humanmind.Itisimpressionableandcaneasilybefooledinto thinking that one thing is actually another!At the surface of these many layers are the mental lenses.Like the spectacles that a person uses to see better, mental lenses are usedbythemindtoviewphysicalrealityandunderstandwhats presently happening to it. Each person has a special set of frequently used lenses.Forexample,apolicemanwhospecializesingang-relatedcrime would have a mental lens that focuses on the common signs of gang activity.Thispolicemanwouldnotonlybein-trancebuthismental filterwouldbehardenedandresistantbecauseofhisexperiencesin the field.I know what youre thinking right now Perhaps we can just break downasubjectsmentallensessothattheywouldseethingsour way?My answer would be no. First, it would take a lot of effort and energy tobreakdownamentallensthathasbeeninuseforyears.Second, mental lenses can be cracked momentarily but they can never be truly broken down.11The Hypnotic Language FormulaWhats the solution?Insteadoftryingtobreakdownasubjectsmentallens,whynot switch it with another lens?Byswitchingthesubjectsmentallenswithamorefavorablemental lens,youwouldbeabletochangethesubjectsperceptionofthe situation without raising any alarms.AndthebestthingabouttheSwitchisthatyoucancarryitout progressively, in a series of small steps and still get powerful results!How can you switch a persons mental lens?You can switch a persons mental lens progressively by:1. Convincing him that you are his natural leader.2. Showing him that you have many similarities with each other.3. Making him feel safe and comfortable in your presence.4.Establishingrapportandbuildingtrustevenifitsthefirsttime youve met.ThemainobjectiveoftheSwitchistoestablishagenuine connectionwiththesubjectsothathewouldletyouleadthe conversationanditsfinaloutcome.Thisgenuineconnectionwould alsoprovideyouwiththeopportunitytobuildtrustandeliminate any glaring differences you may have with the subject. 12The Hypnotic Language FormulaRemember: it is safer to assume that your subject does not trust you enoughtolistentoyourmessage.Theonlywaythatyoucan persuadesomeonewhodoesnttrustyouenoughisbybuildinga toweroftrustinhismind.Thistoweroftrustwouldoverlookthe entiredialogueandeverywordthatyousaywillbegranted legitimacy by this mental monolith.Step Two: Hyper-Awareness How can you induce hypnosis in any social interaction?Aftertheintakeinterviewandcompletingthenecessarypaperwork, ahypnotherapistwillbegintheformalsessionwithahypnotic induction technique.Essentially,thehypnoticinductionconditionsandrefocusesthe clientsmindsothathewillbeabletopaycloseattentiontowhat hypnotherapist is saying.Why is induction necessary?Controlled Trance Induced Hyper-AwarenessNatural Trance13The Hypnotic Language FormulaAsIvementionedbefore,self-hypnosistendstohappen instantaneously.Ifyourereadingagoodbook,youwereprobably hypnotizedwhenitwasrevealedthattheherosgirlfriendwas kidnapped by a group of winged monsters.Now,whenapersonisinahypnotictrance,hefocusesonjustone thingaloneandheisabletofilteroutalldistractionsfromthe externalenvironment(unlessofcoursetherewasafireora monstrousthunderstormoutside,inwhichcasehisconsciousmind wakes up).Ournaturalhypnotictrancesarethemainreasonwhyyouneedto induce hypnosis before attempting to persuade or influence someone.Whenyoutalktosomeonewiththeintenttoinfluenceorpersuade, you must assume that his mind is already hyper-aware of something else.Thebigquestioniswhatexactlyishismindfocusedon?Ishe focusedonyouandyourmessageorishehyper-awareofthefact that there are bills to pay at the end of the month?How about you? This tower of trust must be created before you attempt to induce hypnosis.Why? Because hypnosis always depends on the subjects willingness togounderatrance.Ifthesubjectdoesnottrustyou,hewillresist any attempts at pulling him into a controlled trance state.How is hypnotic induction performed?14The Hypnotic Language FormulaThereare3maingroupsofhypnoticlanguagepatternsthatare consideredthemosteffectiveininducingcontrolledtrancestatesin regularday-to-dayconversations:visualizationpatterns,sensory-stimulationpatternsandstorytellingpatterns.Letstalkabouteach pattern and why theyre ideal for inducing hypnosis.1.VisualizationPatternsVisualizationspatternsaretheeasiestto learnandapplybecauseallyouneedisyourimaginationandthe willingness to convey those mental simulations to your subject.Visualizationinduceshypnotictranceseasilybecausepeople generallyrequiresignificantmentalresourcestocarryout visualizations. When you ask a subject to imagine something for you, his present trance state is disrupted and his minds eye shifts to your visualization.2.Sensory-StimulationPatternsSensorystimulationpatternscan beusedontheirownortheycanbeusedtocomplementalonger visualizationpattern.Essentially,thisgroupofpatternscapturethe subjects attention by taking advantage of how our senses respond to verbal language.Heresanexample:Imaginethatyourlefthandisbecominglighterand lighterwhileyourrighthandisbecomingheavierandheavier.Yourleft handisfloatingupwardbecausetheresabigballoontiedtoitandthe balloon is floating upward. Your right hand is becoming heavier and heavier becauseyoureholdingabigbrick.Lefthandisbecominglighterand lighter Right hand is becoming heavier Heavier Heavier This is a sample sensory-stimulation script used in clinical hypnosis. Itplayswithapersonssensesandapersonwillinglyexperiences these strange sensations by simply listening to the hypnotist.3. Storytelling Patterns This is one of my favorite group of patterns because they can be used in different phases of the Six-Part Hypnotic Language Formula. Thats how powerful storytelling is.15The Hypnotic Language FormulaStorytelling is an appropriate vessel for hypnotic induction because it capturesnotonlythesubjectsimaginationbutalsohissensesand how he perceives reality after the story is told. A story can be also be expanded to secretly contain other hypnotic language patterns! Step Three: Circuit ShockHow can you deal with a subjects natural resistance to persuasion?Afterestablishingrapportandbuildingtrust,youwillbeableto successfully induce hyper-awareness in your subject.However,thisdoesntmeanthatyoursubjectwillbegintoagreeto everything that you have to say. The human brain has its own natural defensesagainstinfluenceandpersuasion,evenifithasallowed itself to enter a controlled trance state.Themindsprimarylayerofdefenseareitswakingfilters.Waking filtersarelikeheavily-guardedgatesthatprotectboththeconscious and subconscious halves of the mind.Theconsciousmindwasdesignedtoacceptonlyaverysmall percentageofnewideasandtorejectallotherideasandbeliefs immediately, without any further consideration.A persons waking filters are governed by his own brand of logic and rationalthinking.Eachpersonsubscribestoaparticularwayof thinking: my logic may be slightly or radically different from yours.Theselogicaldissimilaritiesareconsideredthemajorcausesof resistance in social interactions. If Person As message does not align withPersonBslogic,thenPersonBcaneasilyrejectitonthebasis that it is irrational even if it appears rational to Person A.16The Hypnotic Language FormulaYoursubjectcanchoosetorejectyourmessagerepeatedly,simply because his waking filters wont allow your message to pass through. Insteadoftryingarguewithyoursubject(whichwouldonlymake his waking filters more active), your best possible option would be to shock his waking filters.Shockingorshort-circuitingsomeonesconsciousmindis commonlypracticedbyexpertinfluencerswhohavemasteredthe complex process of breaking down all forms of resistance.In clinical hypnosis, resistance is ironed out by continuously applying hypnoticpatternsthatmaketheconsciousmindsleeptemporarily. Resistanceisalsoreducedtoaminimumbecauseclientsof hypnotherapistsknowthattheyarebeinghypnotizedandwanttobe hypnotized. A hypnotherapists client is already 50% in-trance by the time that he walks into a hypnotherapists clinic or office.Obviously,wedonthavethisluxurywhenweretalkingtoa friend, family member, colleague, customer or even your boss.Whenyousetouttopersuadeorinfluencesomeone,theopposite scenariotakesplace:thesubjectofyourpersuasivewordsmaybe naturallyresistantorinsomecases,combative.Theresreallyno comparisonbetweenthemindsetsofhypnotherapypatientsand individuals that we try to persuade on a daily basis.How can you shock someones logical circuits?Therearesomespecifichypnoticlanguagepatternsthatwillallow youtosuccessfullyshort-circuitsomeonesconsciousdefenses.Here are some of them:17The Hypnotic Language Formula1. Use the subjects logic and modify it to support your own message.2.Overloadthesubjectsconsciousmindwithseveralpiecesof information;thebitsofinformationmayormaynotevenbeinter-related.3.Triggeragreementbydivertingthesubjectsattentionsothathe commitstoyourmessagebitbybituntilhecommitstotheentire message.4.Gainthesubjectssupportbypresentingacommonproblemor enemy and by providing a viable solution or beneficial counter-move against the common enemy.These are just some of the basic patterns that you can use to get past theheavilyguardedgatesofyoursubjectsconsciousmind.Once youreinside,itwouldbeeasiertostarttransplantinghypnotic suggestionsthatwillfurtherboostyourpositionasapersuader/influencer.Step Four: The Hypnotic StakeWhat is the hypnotic stake?The hypnotic stake is actually the hypnotic suggestions that you will be hammering into the subjects subconscious mind. Completing Step FourrequiresafirmmasteryofStepThreebecauseyouwillnotbe 18The Hypnotic Language Formulaable to access your subjects subconscious mind without shocking his waking filters first. Whatsthedifferencebetweenahypnoticsuggestionandaregular,direct suggestion?Themaindifferencebetweenaregularsuggestionandahypnotic suggestionisthatthelatterofteninvolvesaseriesofinterrelated messages. A hypnotic suggestion is rarely expressed in just one or two sentences.Itisoftenstructuredinawaythatthesubjectgradually acceptsseparatepiecesofinformationwhichleadstoaprogressive build-up. An effective hypnotic suggestion has the following characteristics:1.Direction-GivingItleadsthesubjecttothedirectionthatyou want to go.2. Ethical It provides mutual benefit to the influencer and subject.3. Angle-Changing It allows the influencer to reframe the situation so that the subject is able to see the message in a better light or from a different angle.4.ConditioningItwillallowtheinfluencertograduallyshiftthe subjectsbeliefabouttheissuesothatintheend,thesubjectand influencer are on the same side.Hypnotic language patterns are ideal for driving home vital messages ofpersuasionbecausetheycaneasilybepresentedinawaythat makesthemsoundlikeregularconversationallanguage.Unlike direct suggestions, hypnotic messages tend to avoid scrutiny because themessageinitsentiretyisoftencovertlytransmittedthrough cleverly structured fragments.Heres an example:19The Hypnotic Language FormulaTarget Message: You should upgrade your laptop computer because its outdated.Actual Dialogue: I Influencer S Subject I: How would you like to upgrade your home office with a new laptop?S: Its too expensive! I: Do you want to experience less stress when handling big files?S: Of course, who wouldnt?I: How many times were you frustrated with your old laptop this week?S:Well,acoupleoftimes.AfewtimesIreallyfeltlikethrowingitagainst the wall. It keeps freezing!I: And what happens when it freezes?S: I stop what Im doing obviously and I try to reboot it, which isnt always possible. When I cant reboot it I remove the battery. I know, its bad!I:Anddidyouknowthatnewlaptopsactuallydomorecomputationsto avoid freeze-ups?S: Really?!I: And thats just a very minor benefit of a new laptop.The flow of conversation in this sample dialogue can easily lead to a saleIftheinfluencercontinuesobservingandadaptingtohis subject.Thatsanotherimportantcharacteristicofagoodhypnotic suggestion.Itshouldbemoldedtosuityoursubjectsneedsand desires. We will be talking about needs, desires and even fantasy very soon,becausetheyrealsopartoftheSix-StepHypnoticLanguage Formula.Step Five: Stoking the Fires of DesireWhat does desire have to do with persuasion and influence?20The Hypnotic Language FormulaStepFiveoftheSix-StepHypnoticLanguageFormulatacklesthemost intimatepartofthesubconsciousmind:theregionthatdealswith desire.If you want to be truly successful in persuading your subject, youneedtotakethefollowingelementsintoconsideration:needs, desires & fantasies.Letstalkabouteachoneoftheseelementssothattheirpurpose becomes clearer:1.NeedsTherearedifferentkindsofneedsphysical,emotional, spiritual,financial,etc.Humansarenaturallypreoccupiedwith fulfilling their needs all of their needs, if time and resources permit.Beingabletofulfillonesneedshasadirectimpactonapersons happiness, contentment and feeling of comfort and safety.Some needs are immediately apparent and known to people (e.g. you have to eat at least 3 times a day, the children need to attend school, etc.) while others arent immediately obvious unless it is pointed out specifically (e.g. you need to go out to meet new friends, you need to take vitamin supplements to fill the gap in your nutrition, etc.)2.DesiresDesireisdefinedaslongingorhopingforsomething. Desireisntjustaboutwantingsomethingforyourself,italso involveshopethatsomehow,theobjectofthedesirewillbeattained. In short, there is a lot of emotion involved when a person desires for something.Desireisrootedinthesubconsciousandisrationalizedbythe conscious mind. The conscious minds main job is to reflect what lies beneath,likethesurfaceofaclearpond.Ifapersondesiresfor something,thatcanbeimmediatelyreflectedbythesurfacelevelof the mind our waking consciousness.3.FantasyFantasyisthetwinbrotherofdesire.Objectsofdesire wouldbecompletelymeaninglessiftheimaginationcannotfathom 21The Hypnotic Language Formulatheirusefulnessordesirabilityindifferentcontexts.Apersons fantasiesofteninvolveanobjectofdesire.Sometimes,theobjectof desire is well-defined; other times, a person would only have a vague idea of what he truly desires. These 3 vital components should be tapped whenever you want to persuade or influence a subject. Again, this can be accomplished by using specific hypnotic language patternsthatwillmakeiteasierforyoutoenterthatpartofthe subconscious mind that deals with desire, fantasy and needs.Your best friend when it comes to Step Five is the capacity of the mind to create unlimited fantasies.Whenyouretalkingtoasubject,youcaninducehimintoaguided fantasy, with you at the helm. There are many ways to induce fantasy in a person: anchoring, subconscious cues, wordplay, etc.Is it sufficient to simply invoke someones desire?Afterinducingaguidedfantasy,thenextstepistousehypnotic language patterns that will make the subject commit to your idea or to theactionthatneedstobeperformed.Commitmentneedstobe associatedfirmlywithabenefitoradvantage.Ofcourse,youmust ensurethatthesubjectdesirestherewardandalsodeemsita legitimate need.Commitmentandinvolvementcanalsobeachievedbytheusing hypnotictechniquesthatintegratethesituationwithinasocial context.Forexample,ifyouretryingtoconvincesomeoneto participate in an upcoming charity fundraiser, you would want to go about the invitation slowly so that you are not rejected outright. Byaskingapersontoperformsmall,insignificantactionssuchas signingapaperorreadingaflyer,youaredrivinghomeahypnotic suggestiontobecomecommittedtotheevent.Eventually,the 22The Hypnotic Language Formulasubjects own sense of responsibility will begin to kick in and he will naturallywanttocontinuehelpingwiththeeventbecausehehas already committed to it in some way.Step Six: Sealing the GatesIn clinical hypnosis, hypnotherapists generally instruct their clients to forgeteverythingthatwastoldthroughoutthesession.Triggering hypnoticamnesiaisperformedtomakesurethatthesubjectdoesnot recall the hypnotic process and over-analyze it.Over-analysiscanmeandeathforhypnoticsuggestionsthathave barely taken root in the subconscious mind.Likefragilesaplings,hypnoticsuggestionscanbeuprootedbythe newly awakened conscious mind because thats its job to protect the subconscious from new ideas which might pose a risk to the person. Itwilltakesometimebeforehypnoticsuggestionstakeroot;they mustbeconsciouslyforgottensothattheycangrowandinfluencea persons conscious thinking.Thesixthandfinalstepisaptlycalledsealingthegatesbecause once youve implanted your hypnotic suggestions, you have to close thesubconsciouschannelsthatyouaccessedtodrivehomethose hypnotic suggestions.Theobviousconundrumherewouldbethescenarioitself:you cant just tell your subject to forget everything you said. You cant use ahypnotherapistspatterwhenyoureinaconferenceorifyoure talking to a colleague at work.How can you encourage hypnotic amnesia as you make your exit?One of the simplest ways to shift the subjects attention away from youandawayfromyourmessageisbyappealingtothesubjects ethics, values and personal beliefs.23The Hypnotic Language FormulaByappealingtothesecoreelementsofhispersonalityandbehavior, you will be able to establish a direct link between your message and hispersonalideals. Youwilllearnaboutyoursubjectsidealsasyou interactwithhim;soitsveryimportantthatyoulistenasmuchas youtrytoapplytheappropriatehypnoticlanguagepatternsto enhance your ability to persuade.Hypnoticlanguagepatternsaresimplytoolsyouwouldonlybe abletousethemproperlyifyouobserve,listenandadapttohow your subject is responding throughout the dialogue. They dont work automatically(i.e.workregardlessofwhatyouvebeendoingor saying throughout the dialogue)!When you use hypnotic language patterns to shift your subjects idea away from you, you are effectively transferring responsibility for the ideatoyoursubject.Sowhenyoureabouttoendtheconversation, youmustmakeitapointtomakeyoursubjectbelievethatyour message is actually reflective of what he believes, values or desires.You must never be at the center of the subjects mind before you part. Yoursubjectmustbethesuperstarthatdetermineshisownfateand planofaction.Throughthisfinalstep,youcanbesurethatyour messagewillcontinuetoinfluenceyoursubjectevenafteryouve parted ways.Congratulations! You have successfully completed Stage One.You now understand how you can combine the power of hypnosis to your communication skills to become more persuasive.
