member of Troop 118 presented his plans for his Eagle Scout project. He is constructing a “Ga Ga Game” (what is ga-ga?) at the Woods Chapel Baptist Church where he is a member. The game will provide organized activity for many age-groups for many years to come. He shared blueprints as well as a photograph of the completed structure. His project will cost $750-$850 and he is asking for donations for his project.

Two new members were installed today with the presentation of their red badges, Rotary Pins, and Rotary Certificates: Gary Miller and Tim Brown. Gary’s sponsor is Don Mebus and mentor is Phillip Wambsganss. Tim’s sponsor is Peter Scott and mentor is Derrick Kinney. Please make a point to greet and get acquainted with these two gentlemen.

A Paul Harris Award was presented to Patrick Jones by an anonymous donor. Patrick has volunteered his time and skills as Sergeant of Arms, AV Technician for weekly meetings, updating the Rotary Club’s Website, and laying-out the weekly Hubcap. He always has a smile on his face and exemplifies what it means to give service above self! Congratulations Patrick!

Singing “Happy Birthday” was led by Ron Smith to those who had birthdays this week!

Our program was presented by Colleen Walker who is the CEO of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. She has a degree in architectural engineering and a Master’s of Business Administration

from Harvard University. Her passion is working to develop female leaders and advocating for increased opportunities and education in STEM--Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Ms. Walker has been honored by Dallas Business Journal as one of the “Top 25 Female Business Leaders in Dallas” and by the Women’s Council of Dallas as “Woman of the Year.” The goal of the Perot Museum is to inspire minds and to be an exploration resource for students and adults alike. Ms. Walker’s enthusiasm about the museum was contagious! She gave a brief description of the different areas of the museum: the grand glass elevator and escalator that takes everyone to the top floor to begin their tour, “Life Then and Now Hall,” “Energy Hall,” “Being Hall,” “Engineering Hall,” “Children’s Museum,” as well as many other exhibits for exploration. The museum hosts over half a million students a year and 2.5 million visitors. The presentation gave us all the desire to go and see the museum!

The program was closed with a warm ovation and a book was donated to the Webb School Library in Colleen Walker’s honor.

We were led in reciting the Four Way Test, and dismissed with the ringing of the bell by president Joyce Stanton. This turned out to be another great day to be a Rotarian!!
