Frodo Baggins begins his journey at theShire. This is Frodo’s safe haven and home.

Stage 2The Call to Adventure

Frodo Baggins is called to carry the ring inorder to keep him safe.

Stage 3The Refusal of the Call

Frodo does not initially want any part of thecall. He is perplexed by the journey set outfor him.

Stage 5Crossing the Threshold

Once the fellowship breaks, Frodo reachesthe point of no return along his journey. Upuntil this moment, he could have turnedback home.

Stage 7Approach to the Inmost Cave

Frodo begins to become extremely greedy. He yearns for the ring and the power that itpossesses. The very dark side of Frodo isbrought to light.

Stage 8 The Ordeal

Frodo is about to die when the elves nursehim back to health. He deals with anextremely dire life or death situation. Withthe elves help, he is able to survive.

Stage 10The Road Back

Frodo returns to the shire at the end of TheFellowship of the Rings. He only stops heremomentarily before the next movie.

Stage 11 The Resurrection

After the elves bring Frodo back to life, he istransformed. He realizes that he wasgreedy and overcome by power. It is at thispoint, that he is reborn both literally andfiguratively in this movie.
