I am proud of the fact that despite the challenges we faced, we also managed to deliver on key activities thanks to our Board and committee heads: Introduced ZOOM to our members and purchased neces- sary equipment. Trained all the members and teachers how to use ZOOM and other means of communication. Kept our class calendar up to date Monitored classes to ensure lessons went smoothly with no interruptions. Held our MPI from LIVE to ZOOM, getting the supplies to the students and selling rafϐle tickets. I truly appreciate your efforts this year, especially given the extenuating circumstances you all found yourselves in—it has been nothing short of extraordinary. ‘ We have an exciting line up for the ϐirst quarter of 2021 to get the New Year underway. NEWSfrom1stVicePresident(Programs) It’s almost here! 2021 is on the horizon, please remember we still have some fantastic classes remaining on our calendar. January’s class with Ramona, her “Jacobean Style” tray is really beautiful and can be painted on any surface, however she painted it on a metal tray. So, sign up soon, let’s start off the new year in style. But let’s not forget Karen’s still life flower painting, Red Love, for February. Karen’s designs are always popular, and she brings so much to the painting experience. Taking signups now. Program voting is getting organized as we speak. I would love to be able to have in person voting if possi-ble, but we will have on-line for anyone who would prefer to vote that way. Right now, I’m thinking of the third weekend in January, but don’t mark your calendars yet. What I can say, we have again a difficult de-cision to make, so many BEAUTIFUL submissions.

Seminar news: Be sure to mark your calendars for the first weekend in June, the 5th & 6th, for the Rosemary West semi-nar. Hopefully we will be able to proceed with that date. I have Os boxes available for $30.00 each. Send your check made out to Palomar Heritage Painters to me (Linda Silvasy) at the address below. I will make arrangements to get the box to you.

Remember, I will be taking your payments for upcoming paint-ins. A great big THANK YOU to Debi for her years of hard work for our chapter. I could still use some help, so please step up, it does “take a village” so please con-sider volunteering. Please send your sign-ups to Linda Silvasy 13826 Little Pond Rd Valley Center, Ca 92082 760-644-6290 (This address has been updated on our sign-up form on page 11).

When the year 2020 (MMXX) began, we thought it would be an even ul year just based on the numbers, the duplica on, the 20th year of the 3rd millennium, the 20th year of the 21st century, and the 1st year of the 2020’s decade. 2020 has been heavily defined by the COVID‐19 pan‐demic, which has led to global social and economic disrup on, mass can‐cella ons and postponements of events, worldwide lockdowns and the largest economic recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s. Geospa al World also called it "the worst year in terms of climate change" in part due to major climate disasters worldwide, including ma‐jor bushfires in Australia and the western United States, as well as extreme tropical cyclone ac vity affec ng large parts of North Ameri‐ca and the United States. Wow! Was it ever even ul!

So what do we have to look forward to in 2021? The United Na ons has declared 2021 as the Interna onal Year of Peace and Trust, the Interna onal Year of Crea ve Economy for Sustainable Development, the Interna onal Year of Fruits and Vegetables, and the Interna onal Year for the Elimina on of Child Labour. The colors for the year 2021 are silver/grey, white, green & yellow.

We also get to look forward to celebra ng our birthdays. First we can celebrate with Marilyn Winder whose birthday is on January 10, just a day a er our first paint‐in of the year. If we would have been able to meet in person, we would have had birthday cake for dessert. Instead, we can raise a glass of our favorite beverage and toast to Marilyn for many more years of pain ng and fun get‐togethers.

Virginia Davies, a long me PHP member, celebrates her birthday on January 12. We’re always happy to see Virginia at paint‐ins.

Dee Bristol celebrates her birthday on January 20. January 20 people have a deeply human quality which endears them to their family and friends

Sherry Choque e celebrates her birthday on January 23. January 23 zodiac people are on the Capricorn‐Aquarius Cusp. This is the Cusp of Mystery. People on this cusp enjoy more advantages in life than their counterparts elsewhere.

Mary Mitchell celebrates her birthday on January 27. People born on January 27 possess a bright and inven ve path to life and are also very altruis c and charitable. Just like a true Aquarius, they are empathic, have great supervisory skills

and seem to send a good vibe to everyone they come across. They like mind challenging talks and trying new things

Rose Ann Linsley celebrates her birthday on January 31. January 31st hon‐ors everything backward with Na onal Backward Day. The day provides an opportunity to reverse our ways, our direc on or simply our shirt. Dessert for breakfast, perhaps? Fun fact: Leonardo da Vinci wrote backward. Not only did the ar st and inventor write from right to le , but he also wrote his le ers backward. .yad doog a si sihT
