Nathan’s Notes
Angie’s List
“Life is better
Connected.”
As a church we believe that relationships are
extremely important. We believe that in relationships
all people are known and can be known that some-
thing magical happens. Perhaps this is partly why
the first miracle of Jesus occurs at a Wedding. Jesus
takes a basin of water and turns in to excellent wine
so that the celebration of relationship can keep going.
The most important part of relationships is not to do
everything exactly right but rather to do it well.
Every relationship regardless of whether it is a mar-
riage, a close friendship, or serious dating relation-
ship is a place where conflict can and will exist. The
key of relationships is not conflict avoidance but ra-
ther conflict management.
This is where we as the church have a responsibility
to each of you as you do life in relationship to others.
The church is to help you learn how to be in relation-
ship with people better. That is why we are having a
Relationship Enrichment Weekend.
I want to encourage you to take time to learn to do
relationships better. Mark your calendar for Saturday
July 30 and plan to join us for this exciting day. Tam-
my Zwarst is a licensed therapist and a does counsel-
ing from a distinctly Christian perspective. This
means that she is uniquely suited to help each of us
learn to do relationships more like Jesus would have
us to do them.
I would encourage you to take the time to attend this
Saturday seminar I promise you that your life will be
enriched and your relationships have the potential to
be much better than if you don’t get involved. Rela-
tionships are the most important thing that we have
in life and having the tools in our tool belt to know
how to do them well is extremely important.
If you think you can do conflict in relationships bet-
ter, or if you think you can learn to be a better com-
municator this time of enrichment is for you. Please
give it some thought and remember the only thing
you can control in any situation is you, so why not
work on improving the one thing you can control.
Be on the look out for more information and get in-
volved and join us as we discover what it means to
live well in relationships.
Blessings,
Nathan
BABY DEDICATION
As you have already noticed in other parts of The Herald, this past Sunday was baby dedication. As
everyone knows, this is my favorite service of the
year, I have the privilege of holding all of our new
babies and showing them off to the congregation.
This service always brings out entire families to
show pride and love for the new family member. I
ask that you pray for each of these families. They
need our prayers and support as they follow the
Biblical imperative, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it" (Prov. 22:6). Babies are blessings! They
are also responsibilities! Never cease to pray for
them and their families.
MAY & JUNE ARE FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES
Our baby dedication service the first of several op-
portunities that fill our schedule for the next sever-
al months. To name them in order is a challenge,
but I will try. Mothers' Day is this Sunday, after
that will be graduate recognition (if you know any
graduates whether high school, college, medical
school, etc., let us know), followed by honoring the
residents and their families, youth camp, children's
Vacation Bible School, Fathers' Day, Fourth of July,
Relationship Enrichment Weekend, etc. As you see
there are many ways you can be used in the minis-
try of these. My prayer is that we stay faithful as
we "seek the welfare of the city" in these final
months.
THANK YOU
I want to personally thank you for those of you who
were so faithful during our Renewal Weekend. It
was a great weekend to be with Keith Tomlinson
and Zach Massey. Keith and Zach were used by the
Lord to touch many of our lives in new and wonder-
ful ways. I also want to thank Nathan and Angie
for picking up the slack in so many areas before and
during the weekend.
As many of you who know, I had a minor medical
procedure this past week and spent the week recu-
perating. Your phone calls, texts, visits, and pray-
ers are greatly appreciated by Sherry and me.
Please keep praying for me as I pray for you.
I Love You,
Bro. Ray
Baby D - Church and Family Event
Seven young families joined us for our Baby dedica-
tion and celebration event., May 1, 2016
The purpose of this event was for parents to make a
commitment to lead their child into a growing
relationship with their heavenly Father.
This was a milestone moment for these families!
It’s our hope that this dedication is the beginning of a
relationship that spans the life of these children. We
hope to inspire parents to invest in the things that will
matter most to their child’s future because as parents,
they’ll play a significant role in the spiritual journey of
their child and we’ve invited them to include us, the
local church.
Orange – what it’s given our church
We have a comprehensive plan beginning at
birth for kids and families.
We’ve established a community, through
relationships that gives every child a
place to connect their faith.
Keeping parents in our ministry while en-
gaging them to synchronize the home
with the church.
We’re working towards a plan that mobiliz-
es elementary aged children to get ac-
tively involved in personal ministry.
The Orange curriculum leads kids to won-
der, discovery and passion by engaging
their senses to discover their heavenly
Father.
Jumpstart – a discipleship program for kids
and families designed to help them on
their spiritual journey.
A strategy of the church partnering with
families.
