The Hand-In Tool in Fronter for teachers
With the Hand-In tool it´s easy to see what the students have handed in and when. The
students in the course can get reminders about the deadline for the hand in.
When a student has handed in an assignment or an exam you can as a teacher easy
comment and grade their work. Assignments that are finished are shown in the portfolio for
the students.

How do I use the Hand-In tool in Fronter?
You will find the link to Hand-in in the left menu in your course room.

If you have previously created hand-in folders you will see them here. To create a new
folder, click Hand-in folder.
When you have clicked Hand-in folder a new page will show. You need to fill in some
information.

Title – the name of the folder, if you create several folders, give them different names; by
date, name or number.
Description – a field where you could describe the assignment.
Customise opening hours – Fronter will suggest that the Hand-In folder is open for a month.
You can change these opening hours as you desire. A reminder will appear on the Today
page to remind those students that haven´t handed in their assignments a few days before
the folder will close.

Customise access – You can also
customize the access to the folder. If you
don´t change anything, those people that
can access the course room can access
the folder.
Ephorus settings – if you would like to send the assignments to Ephorus, fill in your e-mail
address here. Please note that you must have an activated account in Ephorus, for more
information in the manual for Ephorus.
Finally, click Save.
In the Hand-In folder you can upload a more detailed description about the assignment, (in
for an example a word document). Click Upload task.

To upload a file for the students to read, use the button Browse and search for the
document on your computer. Click Save when you are done.
Teachers are able to see all the students´ hand-ins. The students can only see their own
hand-ins.
In the example below one student has handed in an assignment.

To grade and comment the assignment, click the arrow/triangle to the left of the
assignment´s title:
Then click Comment in the menu that will appear:
Write a Comment about the hand-in as shown below and type a grade under Grade. Then
select a box to mark for Evaluation. Finally, click Save.

Depending on which box you have marked for evaluation, the status will show different
symbols:
Approved In progress
Not approved Not delivered
Not evaluated
If you would like to see yours and the students´ comments, mark the box Details Submit
hand-in.
