The Annual Meeting was called to order by Chair-person Margot Cioccio on Sunday, Feb. 21. Twenty nine of our sixty two mem-bers were present.

The Chairperson’s report stressed the difficult jour-ney we had all of last year, dealing with one crisis after another. As we learn from our work we con-tinue to find that God is faithful. This year we are finding new joy and hope brought to our hearts with new ministry energy.

One surprise was Treas-urer Robin Havercroft’s letter of resignation. She indicated that the work of Treasurer in cleaning up past records, dealing with back debt to the IRS, and catching up on other bills, had produced a stress and strain on her and her family that made it hard to continue. Pastor Rob indicated that our work with poor is cre-ating opportunities that may lead to help from sev-eral outside sources, in-cluding denominational aide. Over $4,000 has come in since Sept from outside our church to sup-port and encourage this ministry.

relationships and build greater favor with those in the community. The kitchen crew was a bit nervous as we began because only six people had signed up to help and one of them called and bailed out the day of the event. In spite of that stressful begin-ning, fifteen people ended up coming in to help in the kitchen. There was a lot of laughter and joy in the process.

In early February the Spokane Homeless Coalition met and decided to donate their charitable collection for the month to First Covenant Church as a token of thanks and appreciation for our work with the home-less of Spokane.

One of the problems we currently face has to do with the lack of workers doing church ministry. If

kidney when the time is right, but I believe that sometimes we must be proactive.

I would be very grateful if you would consider thinking about making a donation. Please prayerfully consider making the decision to do-nate. The lives of many hang on the generosity of a stranger. You may be the one! Thank you for your consideration and prayers.

"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.,

My name is Kathleen (Kadee) Scott and I am a member of First Covenant Church in Spokane. I lost my kidney function due to a disease called Lupus and had one kidney removed due to a tumor in 2006. I have been on the waiting list for a kidney for 3-1/2 years. I am on kidney dialy-sis and I am fortunate to be able to do my dialysis at home at night so that I can have a fairly normal life and work part time. My family and friends have been very supportive and have been praying for me. One relative offered, but turned out not to be able to donate. I trust that God will send me a

Did you know that more than 75,000 people in the United States are waiting for kidney transplants! The wait for a kidney can take 3-5 years, unless a living donor is available.

A living donor kidney comes from a person who voluntarily offers to do-nate one of their kid-neys. This can be a blood relative or a person not related. Testing is done to determine if the potential donor is compatible with the patient. Since people have two kidneys and only one is needed for normal function, donating is possi-ble for most people.

Fun and Fellowship, cleaning, maintenance, repair, busi-ness leadership, counseling, Bible study, check writing, and bill paying. All of these actions and a few more, are done by 17 people in our church. That’s it —17! Ten of those are Management Team members and their spouses. We still need more members to rise up and take part in ministry. Why don’t you chose a ministry to join?!

you were to list all the minis-tries done in the course of a month, you would notice things like designing ser-vices, running sound, lights, and PowerPoint, preaching, singing, bulletin, poster, and flyer production, mailing letters, answering phones, creating The Grapevine, pur-chasing supplies, meal plan-ning and preparation, Farm-ers Market work, Jr High boys class, STUCK preschool, warming center operation,

eyes. He told me how he and his twenty something son had lost their jobs and were passing through town staying at a local shelter while they tried to make it back to family in another state. About all they had were the clothes on their backs and a cou-ple of sleeping bags. Before they left, each were able to get numerous changes of clothes, and the son won a backpack to carry it all in. He almost burst into tears with thanks and gratitude to us. I told him how Jesus knew he was coming that day and planned on having all that stuff here just for him and his son to take. “Use this moment to realize that Jesus knows what’s going on with you, he loves you, and he plans on taking care of you” I told him.

We had many guests with us that day who haven’t been a part of our ministry to date. It gave us a chance to make some new
