Dear Parents: What a great Catholic Schools Week we had! We would like to thank all of those who helped make it such a special week, including our teachers who performed at Friday night’s Talent Show! Iowa testing will take place later this month. Make sure that your children get plenty of sleep and eat well. Please check with your child’s teacher about the days their class will be testing. If at all possible, reschedule any appointments so that your child will not miss testing. It is very difficult to make up these tests. Remember, too, that the Iowa tests are just one measure of a child’s academic abilities, and there are many factors that could affect the outcome of your child’s scores. Registration forms have been sent home with your children. In order to secure a spot for next year, the forms will need to be returned with a $150 registration fee by February 14. Registrations are honored on a first- come, first-served basis, and those existing families that submit forms and the registration fee by February 14 will be given first priority. An existing family is defined as “one who is in good financial standing with at least one child attending All Saints.” We will begin open enrollment on February 15. After only a few days of enrollment, over 50% of our existing families have registered for next year. This comes as no surprise, as our students continue to place at the top in both academic and artistic competitions. Already this year we have had students excel in Mathcounts, art contests, speech and debate tournaments, Academic Bowl competitions, volleyball tournaments, cross country meets, and basketball tournaments. We also nurture their souls through the many opportunities they have to participate in Mass as altar servers, ushers, and choir members. If you know a family that might be interested in learning more about our school, please encourage them to schedule a tour soon. Jump Rope for Heart will be on February 8. All Saints, along with most of the Catholic schools in the diocese, participate each year in this activity sponsored b the American Heart Association. Our students will spend 30 minutes jumping rope, and the class schedule is listed in this newsletter. Parents are welcome to come and jump rope with their kids, and we are asking for a $5 donation to the AHA. Finally, Lent will begin soon and we will again be asking for your support of our class service projects. Thank you in advance for your generosity! In Christ, Anne Scalet Suzette Williams Upper School Principal Lower School Principal

Go For Catholic Schools GO for Catholic Schools Inc. (GO) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established in 2012 and qualified as a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) under a new Oklahoma law known as the “Oklahoma Equal Opportunity Scholarship Act” to provide scholarships for students attending a Catholic school in the Diocese of Tulsa. GO is a tool designed to take advantage of this new tax credit scholarship law in Oklahoma and help make a Catholic school education more affordable and accessible for all children. What makes GO such an attractive tool for you is that individuals, married couples and businesses receive a state income tax credit worth up to 75 percent of the amount of their contribution to GO! That tax credit, especially when combined with the charitable contribution deduction, dramatically lowers the net cost of your contribution to GO. To earn the maximum annual tax credit, married couples can give up to $2,667 (and earn a $2,000 tax credit), single people can give up to $1,333 (and earn a $1,000 tax credit), and companies can give up to $133,333 (and earn a $100,000 tax credit). By taking advantage of this program, we can substantially increase funding for All Saints Catholic School. Please visit www.goforcatholicschools.com for more information.

Advancement Good News

Outdoor Recess GuidelinesOur students will continue to have outdoor recess unless the wind chill is below 32 degrees. Please make sure your children bring a coat to school if you think they will need it.

School Closings for WeatherWhen weather conditions are serious and may jeopardize the safety of our students, parents will be notified via text. All Saints DOES NOT follow the decision of Broken Arrow Public Schools. If school is in session and weather conditions worsen, school will not dismiss early; however, parents are welcome to pick up children according to their individual circumstances. In such cases, normal sign-out procedures must be followed. Students will be marked absent for the portion of the day missed. Also, if weather conditions become severe, extended day care may be cancelled and you may be called to pick up your child early.

Lunch Duty RequirementsAll families must volunteer at least 2 hours in the lunch room. These 2 hours do not count toward the required 25 Care and Share hours, but can be worked any time throughout the school year. The school, the diocese, and the state Department of Health have safety standards that must be met in order to volunteer. Please visit our website for complete details and instructions including a link to the SignUp.com calendar to pick your date(s) for volunteering in the lunch room.

Box Tops for EducationOur school collects Box Tops for Education in order to earn rewards for items for our classrooms. Each homeroom has their own collection box, and there are contests throughout the school year with prizes for the classes that collect the most. Encourage grandparents to save them as well and support our school!

What a fabulous time we have had during Catholic Schools Week! Mrs. McCloud came to visit and shared a wonderful short story: "The Affair at 7 rue de M" by John Steinbeck. The 5th grades and Mr. Power’s class enjoyed listening to how a boy's obsession with chewing gum, turned into the gum's obsession with chewing the boy!

As part of Community on Monday of Catholic Schools Week, we had the Director of the Broken Arrow Museum, Lori Lewis, share the story, “Marmie, A Mouse on Main Street.” The author, Lynn Palmer is from Broken Arrow, and her children attended All Saints for a brief time several years ago. This book was written to benefit the Broken Arrow Museum and is dedicated to Marmie Apsley. First and second graders enjoyed hearing the story and seeing how much Broken Arrow has changed over the years.

It was wonderful to have Fr. Sean come in and tell the story of his Faith journey. We were reminded of how we all have a story or journey and God is helping us find out what it is. Our Faith Community at All Saints is a great place for our story to begin!
