Doors of Hope DOORS OF HOPE

H ere at Doors of Hope and Beacon Light, we operate on volunteers to help with

this ministry. This month we would like to celebrate and say thank you to all our volunteers.

We have many volunteers here at Doors of Hope, and unfortunately cannot list all of them, but here are a few I would like to tell you about.

First is a picture of Freda. Freda has been with us since the beginning of Doors of Hope. She comes once a week, volunteers in our intake office and is the first person our guests come in contact with. Armed with her warm smile she begins the intake process. She does all the paper work, inputs information on the computer, and files the folders. Her tasks entail so much more and we thoroughly enjoy and love her Godly spirit and her love for all she comes in contact with.

Next we have Norma. Sweet, sweet Norma. Norma comes in twice a week, and does whatever is needed to be done. She separates the hygiene items that come in, folds

bags, helps with the clothing, makes up our hygiene kits, etc. She is a Jacquelyn of all trades. Norma has been here since our doors opened in 2011.

Susan also works in the front office, taking care of the new intakes, answering phones, filing, loving on all the ladies, helping with computer problems, bringing us goodies, and she helped me set up our FaceBook page. Susan is bubbly, warm, compassionate and a Godly example of showing mercy and grace.

Stacy has been helping in our day room for a few months now and is having a wonderful time with the ladies.

We could not operate without our dedicated volunteers. We thank you all so much for your time and love for the women we serve.

We have great news! This past month two of our past guests, Stacey and Talamika found permanent housing. We are so excited for them. Doors of Hope

was able to provide them with a starter box as a house warming gift. It was filled with all sorts of cleaning items; bath towels, dish towels, soaps, laundry detergent and more. They were so happy to receive the gifts and we were as happy to be able to pass on the donated items.

By the time you get this newsletter, we will have had our last parking lot sale for the year and We Say Thanks for all the donations you gave towards our sales this past year. We are very limited on space so are unable to accept any more ‘sale items’ until next year. But supplies for the shelter and clothing for the women are still needed.

”Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of

Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” Matt 25:40

God Bless, Linda

We Could Not Do It Without YOU!

The decree from Artaxerxes to rebuild Jerusalem Ezra 7:11-14

This is a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave Ezra the priest, the scribe, expert in the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of His statutes to Israel: 12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, To Ezra the priest, a scribe of the Law of the God of heaven: Perfect peace, and so forth. 13 I issue a decree that all those of the people of Israel and the priests and Levites in my realm, who volunteer to go up to Jerusalem, may go with you. In 458 BC, a second group of

exiles led by Ezra, returned to

temple. Over 2,000 volunteers accompanied Ezra

to accomplish their task. Volunteers are the backbone of

History, and you are the

backbone of our Missions.

We are where we are today because of you; whether you

volunteer at our Missions by singing & teaching in the

chapel, cooking, working in the

dining room, helping out with the in-take of new guests,

working in the office, helping at Medical Mission weekends,

parking lot sales, or going into

your homes and community collecting jackets, rain coats,

shoes, gloves, socks, tents, sleeping bags etc, etc, etc. It’s

because of volunteers.

So many photos; so little space We apologize for not including all of the pictures we have of our

volunteers who offer their time, efforts, prayers, monies, etc. at Beacon Light Mission and Doors of Hope.

Along with these pics and all the ones you have sent us of your group in action, it would take several more

pages, to get them all posted. But keep your eyes open as we have plans to get more pictures in our News

Letters in the future, and on our website. So we ask you to please accept our apology for our blessed

dilemma.

We the Board of Directors and Staff of BLM/DOH want to offer a very special “Thanks” to all Volunteers

for helping out our homeless friends and lifting them up with your presence and service to our Lord and

taking the time to send us your cards, letters, emails and photos.
