I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you." As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble, in whom is all my delight. Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names upon my lips. The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage. I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I keep the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure. For you do not give me up to Sheol, or let your faithful one see the Pit. You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Leader: Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. People: Thanks be to God! NEW TESTAMENT EPISTLE LESSON Allyson Black Hebrews 10:19-25: Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Leader: Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. *HYMN OF RESPONSE #371 Now Thank We All Our God NUN DUNKET

Although this hymn is often used on large and festive occasions, its first

two stanzas had much humbler beginnings: they originated as a family

table prayer during the Thirty Year’s War (1618-1648). These words

have been associated with this tune since the mid-17th

century.

Welcome!

Historic First Baptist Church welcomes the outstanding Olentangy

Liberty High School Choirs under the direction of Mr. Doug O’Neal.

Under his direction the choir has traveled extensively and has been

recognized by Ohio Choral Directors Association for their high

standards and dedication to the Choral Arts. We welcome them as they

are currently traveling on their annual Fall tour. Mr. O’Neal reached out

to us here in Dayton, Ohio to host this wonderful group without cost or

obligation and I am sure you have found them to be a blessing this

morning. On “rate-my-teacher” Mr. O’Neal is listed as an amazing

teacher! He really knows his stuff and is always working to learn more

in order to teach his students. He’s always bringing in new info to help

make the choirs better. If you talk to him outside of class (after school,

between class) and need help such as preparation for an audition

outside of school, he’s more than happy to help. Super inclusive and

always kind! If you don't do your work he'll call you out, but he's always

understanding. Amazing, amazing teacher!

_________

The chancel flowers are given on this Celebration Sunday

by Ron & Diana Petry in thanksgiving for our

many blessings!

Prayer for the Armed Forces

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace, strengthen them in their trials and temptations, give them courage to face the perils which beset them, and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
