HOD, H&M

‘G Gazette’ is a wonderful venture by the Literary Representatives of GNITS

since 2014. I have noticed the transformation and innovation of ideas, issue

after issue, which is commendable. I congratulate each member of the

Editorial Board for its tremendous zeal and enthusiasm in bringing out the

latent talents of the future engineers of our institution. I wish them all the

very best and hope to see the ball rolling forever.

Convener, Literaria Clava

G Gazette was, is and will be the most

important project of the Literaria Clava. The

challenging idea it itself is, brought an

atmosphere filled with verve from the very

beginning. Working for this newspaper gave

me a remarkable experience about learning,

leading and doing a bang-up job. Most of all,

working together with a team of exceptional

students, who’s every work and idea is

creditworthy, makes this newspaper an even

more distinguished and notable project of

Literaria Clava. Hoping this newspaper

surpasses all our expectations and succeeds

with flying colours.

-G.MEGHANA

I was very excited when our batch thought of

doing the college newspaper. I learnt time

management, team work and communicative

skills while working on this newspaper. It gave

me an opportunity to interact with the senior

faculty of our college. We have a very

passionate and talented team who make

working on this project challenging and fun.

Although we had our own share of difficulties,

we could overcome all of them because of our

hard work.

-NIKHILA.M.

Working for the G-Gazette has been a joyful

experience. I had the opportunity to learn

about things I never knew. Being a new

Literary Representative, I came to know

what a newsletter is all about and the

hard work that goes into it. It's always

wonderful to work with such a great team of

girls. The team consists of a talented bunch

of girls who are ever supportive. Looking

forward to for many such releases!!

-SRAVYA.P.

G-gazette has given me an opportunity to

showcase my talents and has made me feel

confident about myself. I was given the

wonderful chance to interact with my seniors

and lecturers. They have given me useful

advice and their achievements have been a

source of inspiration for me. Working with a

team and learning to coordinate several

people is an enriching experience. Also the

effort put into coping with deadlines and

driving the other people concerned to give

satisfactory inputs is a task that requires

passion and dedication towards the main

cause. End of day, despite all the hardships we

had to face and the opposition that we had to

go through, we are proud of the work we have

done and are persevering to improve and move

forward in large strides.

-K.KALYANI

Oh Taliban!

Oh Taliban! You know not what religion means, You know not what love and peace is. Do you not see? Your blood stained hands, And your inhuman deeds in religious disguise. Oh Taliban! you will not be forgiven, A day will come when justice will be done. And you'll have to pay for the cruel deeds you've done.

A walk through the park…

I am not sure how many of you are actually aware of the happiness you can often

witness while walking down the gravel in a park, surrounded by the loud, energetic

laughter of the families. It is this noise, not any kind of silence that presents you with a

moment of reflection. All the excitement sucked into that moment of self-recognition:

what you have done, what you wish you did and what you have become.

You can learn more in this walk than anywhere else. Yet in reality you are still simply

realizing what was there all along.

-Tanmaya Vipparti (ETM-1/4)

ANYTIME IS BIRYANI TIME!

When we hear the jingle of bells and

sense the mouth-watering aroma of

baked goods, we know that the

festive season is in the air! By festive

season ,we mean Christmas and

New Year. Being in the city of

Nizams, we cannot forgo our

celebrations without at least one

Hyderabadi dish. Let it be vegetarian

or non- vegetarian, Hyderabad

Biryani is a must ! Around the world

people celebrate Christmas and New

Year with cakes and cookies, we do

too ,but we prefer sumptuous kheer

made by our mother and

grandmothers. The special dishes

that you must try this season are

Mughal biryani, Mughal chicken and

for our dear vegetarians Mughal

mixed- vegetable curry .I know that

all are Mughal dishes but when in

the land of Nizams what better to

eat .So make sure to enjoy this

festive season by enjoying these

delicious dishes with your family and

friends.

ENGINEERS IN THE BIG PICTURE

Living in an age of robots, space-age technology

and nuclear weapons, that are accurate for over

100 million years, it is easy to think that we live

in the most technologically advanced age in

human history. It can seem that almost any task,

any activity can be accomplished with the mere

push of a button or the flip of a switch .This is the

result of the relentless efforts of people, thriving

to create a better tomorrow. A major difference

between other courses and engineering is that

they deal with the world that is at present, while

engineers envision the world that could be. It is

the job of the engineer to determine what

people need or want and figure out the best way

to provide it. This can involve something as

simple as an improved garbage bag that is

inexpensive yet tear-resistant, or as complex as a

cruise ship that is as long as four football fields,

as high as a 24-story building, and carries 6,000

passengers on 16 passenger decks. Modern

humans interact with two worlds at once. The

first is the natural world—the earth, water, air,

plants, and animals that exist independently of

any human intervention. The second is the

human-made world—all the things people have

created for themselves in order to improve their

lives: their cities and farms and factories, their

clothes, their televisions, their medicines,

their musical instruments, their eyeglasses,

their credit cards. Without engineers, this

human-made world could not exist. Well, be

proud and spirited that you can be a part of

it!!!

FRIENDSHIP

THE SKY IS FULL OF TWINKLING STARS, THE SEA IS FULL OF PRECIOUS WATER, THE GARDEN IS FULL OF WONDERFUL FLOWERS, THE NATURE IS FULL OF COLOURFUL BIRDS, LIFE IS FULL OF BEAUTIFUL DREAMS, BUT MY HEART IS FULL OF YOUR FRIENDSHIP, THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL.

FAILURE LEADS TO THE DOOR

OF SUCCESS

Failure is not something to fear,

It is the one putting us to next

gear.

Failure encourages us to do our

best,

It helps us to stand out of the

rest.

Failure if put to recess

Then let's say...

Failure is definitely the stepping

stone to success.

-Bhargavi.R. (CSEC-1/4)

Q .Is peer pressure (in

academics) harmful or

beneficial to students?

B.VENKATESHULU (ECE):

Beneficial- Peer pressure

keeps the creativity alive and

makes one to excel.

K.VENU GOPALA RAO

(CSE): Beneficial-If you are

fortunate enough to get a

positive peer group, it plays a

vital role in shaping your

personality.

K.RAMESH REDDY (EEE):

Beneficial-It raises the bar

of performance and helps in

bringing out the best in us.

K.RAMALINGA REDDY

(ETM): Harmful-As students

lose their inborn talent due to

the “marks race” these days.

I.RAVI PRAKASH REDDY

(IT): Beneficial- Students

should surround themselves

with good friends in hopes

that positive peer pressure

will influence them in good

ways.

Teachers

THE VOICE

Peer pressure is beneficial to students as it

challenges them in every idea and action, to do

something better. This zeal and fanaticism is

what encourages them to explore their talents

and ability to venture in new pathways.

Creating new technologies, making new

policies, having a better life, etc. are all part of

a prevailing sense of pressure among us to do

something better. Considering this pressure

optimistically, will build ones’ confidence,

exceeding their own expectations.

-G.MEGHANA

I think that peer pressure does more harm than

good these days. People go into depression.

Their self esteem goes down and they slowly

begin to drift away from the society. One must

know the fact that everyone is unique in their

own way. The society must try to acknowledge

their natural skills and talent, instead of

constantly criticising and judging them. But

then we cannot rule out peer pressure

completely as it also helps in maintaining the

standards of any field.

-NIKHILA.M.

Q .Is peer pressure (in

academics) harmful or

beneficial to students?

PRACHI MATHUR(IT):

Beneficial-Because positive peer

pressure motivates us to take up

activities which we wouldn’t

otherwise.

SANJANA.M.S. (CSE):

Harmful- Because students are

pushed towards the behavior

that is risky or otherwise

destructive.

GAYATRI INGLE(ETM):

Harmful- because you are not

listening to your conscience and

are doing something that you will

regret later.

ZOHRA FATIMA(EEE):

Beneficial- Because it improves

academic performance and

communication skills.

SNEHA.M(ECE): Harmful- As it

makes students with the purest

morals and highest values act in

ways that are more than

contradictory.

THE VOICE

Students Peer pressure is certainly harmful to the

student's morale. Every person is unique and

cannot be compared to another person or

judged based on the performance of his/her

peers. When a child is inappropriately

compared with his classmates in terms of

marks and ranks, it tends to degrade his

confidence and eventually leads to lesser

quality of performance, which is actually the

opposite of the result intended. When a student

is pressurized by his classmate’s academic

performance, he/she might not always take it

the positive way and might totally give up

trying to do his best.

However it is also true that students need a

healthy dose of competition to keep them

going on the right track and eliminate lethargy,

and this implies that the importance of peer

pressure cannot be entirely ruled out.

-K.KALYANI

Each coin has two faces. Positive peer pressure

can help us push ourselves to the limit. It builds

up a competitive atmosphere where students

thrive. It brings out the best in us, and compels

us to do well. It is very important to have a

good peer circle as it shapes up our personality

and thinking. Good colleges comprise of good

academic peer pressure. We learn from our

friends and surroundings. Having said this, it

also must be noted that one must not take

failure to heart. It might so happen that we

might feel inferior compared to our friends

and classmates. We must always try do our best

in every situation and leave the result for the

best.

SIRISHA CHALAPATHI (ECE-4/4)

I am the student placement committee coordinator in my department.

This taught me how to delegate work among people which has become

one of my major strengths, and I should definitely thank the college for

giving me this opportunity. I have secured 3rd place in poster

presentation for ‘Smart Contact Lens’ at Spoorthi’2k14 conducted at

JNTUH. I Got 1st prize in poster presentation for the topic ‘Automatic

Number Plate Recognition System’ and also for a paper presentation for

the topic ‘RFID based mobile payment system’ under IETE association at

GNITS. I have also done a few technical projects titled Griposcope,

Number guessing game and Visitors counter. Dr A P J Abdul Kalam has

always been my inspiration. My parents have been a very strong support.

Presently I would want to work in a company for about 1 or 2 years and

then I would pursue MBA in a reputed college after which I would like to

start a company of my own. I would suggest my juniors to give extra-

curricular activities the same importance as they give to their studie,s

because during placements, students with extra-curricular activities are

at a better position. It is quite natural for first year students to be afraid

of taking part in activities but I would suggest them to take at least

primary steps in the events that’ll be conducted because in the long run,

they will be glad they did so.

“In one split second everything can change. Be ready.” – Bob Marley

KRISHNA MYTHILI VUSULUMARTI (ECE-4/4)

Getting admission in this college is one of the best things that happened

to me. GNITS has been a place, wherein, I could rediscover myself! I’m

associated with ISTE, the technical club of our college and this year I am

elected as the Vice President. I found myself more confident and better at

my managerial skills, after organising college level events and fests under

the guidance of esteemed faculty. The most memorable moment of my life

is receiving the ‘Young promising engineer’ award! I got placed in my

dream company Deloitte. I participated in and won quite a few paper and

poster presentations, technical quizzes and other technical events

conducted in other colleges and in GNITS under IETE and ISTE. I don’t

compare myself to anyone, neither have I wanted to be like someone else. I

have my own set of strengths, weaknesses and targets, which is specific to

me. And people around me, my family, teachers and friends have always

helped me stay motivated. The faculty members of the college have helped

me grow technically. The support extended by my family needs a special

mention. They have always given me the freedom to choose what I wanted.

There is a quote I read in Facebook a few months back-"I win in life

because I try, because I recognize my strengths and accept my

weaknesses". That is all what I want to say!

PRIYA SARDA (CSE-4/4)

I consider Engineering a very crucial part of my life because along with the quality teaching, various events and celebrations were organized, where we

participated, volunteered and organized .We got an opportunity to polish all our skills in every aspect .I received first prize in Poster Presentation on Sixth Sense

Technology in Pramana2014 at GITAM University, second prize in Paper Presentation on Artificial Intelligence in Future Sastra 2k14 at Malla Reddy Engineering

college for Women, second prize in Mini Project Exhibition on Light Controller at GNITS .Many people have a person as an inspiration but for me it was a

thought- "To make a difference" and since the world is now technology driven ,the best way for me to make a difference was to contribute something to this

technology, and for this my first step was to learn about it. I would advise all my juniors to be regular to your classes but participate in fests as well, concentrate on

your academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, take a chance to represent and lead and don’t forget to participate. In first year you may take time to

be comfortable with your college. In second year you can participate in presentations and fests. In third year you should update yourself to the latest technologies

by taking value added courses. In final year you can make yourself ready for the industry.

HIMASHALA (ETM-4/4)

GNITS is the place where I found my strengths and realised my dreams. I worked as a literary representative and as the student coordinator for paper

presentations in ISTE. Winning the first prize in the elocution competition conducted by the Ministry of Handlooms was a feather in my cap .I am proud to say

that I scored an academic aggregate of 90% and got placed in Infosys, Accenture, Tech Mahindra. As a Telecommunications student I have presented a paper on

“Direct Broadcast Satellites” in IGNIUM 2013. I am mostly into organising events and I enjoy taking up responsibilities. My advice to my juniors would be to think

beyond academics and develop a passion apart from the career path chosen. Do not get diverted from your goals due to mob mentality and persevere to reach

whatever heights you aim for in your subject of interest, whether it is music, dance or whatsoever. Most often we sit back and pull ourselves out of activities just

because we are afraid of missing classes, while in reality the class might not have been important. End of day , it all boils down to whatever you have achieved in all

these four years , because you never get the freedom or scope to achieve all this in the future. Keep participating in fests and activities and keep going ahead!!

SANJANA KOTECHA(IT-4/4)

This college has given me an opportunity to make myself better at every step

by giving the best guidance from the faculty. I have been the Secretary of

‘Persona’ and also a Coordinator for ‘Technoboom’ the ‘IT Club’. I attended

the ‘Data about Data’ session conducted by JPMorgan and was fortunate to

be a part of the winning team. I have also presented papers on ‘Sniffers’

which is related to Computer Networks and ‘Cyborgs’ which deals with

man-machine mixture, a future technology that have made me discover new

dimensions of Information Technology. I have done a project as a part of

my curriculum which is a ‘Data Structures Tutorial’ website which provides

a user interface, where users can give their own inputs and receive output

making it an effective way to learn DS. Learning can also happen online and

there are websites like Codecademy, edX, stack Overflow which helped me

learn a lot about the subjects of my interest like PHP. My parents have

inspired me in a lot of ways. My teachers are my inspiration for the way they

have always taught me to strive for something much better in life. I am also

inspired by people like Sachin Bansal(Flipkart CEO) , Mark

Zuckerberg(Facebook CEO) and dream to have my own start-up one day. In

future I would love to do research in the subjects like Data Mining and

Information Retrieval Systems. My advice to juniors would be that

Engineering is all about how you think creatively, because in the outside

world its Innovation that matters. Go beyond the curriculum and start

implementing your own ideas in the form of a small project or so. Make the

best of it in these four years and “do what you love and love what you do”.

P.SAI NIKHITA(EEE-4/4)

GNITS is a training ground on how to be successful and manifest

ourselves as an individual with high standards. After serving as secretary

to TEJASS for a year, the subsequent year I was promoted as Vice-

President to TEJASS, a technical association of my department. I feel

immense satisfaction in serving as the ESCI campus ambassador,

through which I could help students in taking part in various activities

being organized by ESCI. I am adjudged second best in Execute-Mini

Project at ELECTRET-2013, a National level Technical Symposium, held in

March 2013, at CBIT-Hyderabad, for project entitled ‘Remote Controlled

Switch’. Also I received applauds for taking initiative and preparing a

model on ‘Hydel Power System’ and submitted to GNITS, which is

exhibited presently at the library. My father, who is my first role model,

with a deeper insight always says “Success is to be measured not so much

by position that one has reached in life but by the obstacles one has

overcome to attain that position”. My college has enlightened my

thoughts and helped me to curve myself as a dynamic, confident and

independent woman. I feel utter ecstasy after my good efforts have been

recognized and been selected in the campus selections to DELOITTE, a

big four company. I hope to be a part in every success of my organization,

carve a niche for myself and be a benchmark exhibiting my capabilities

and talents. My advice to all my juniors is to first construct a roadmap

for their future, explore all the possibilities ahead and have complete

passion towards what they do.

For everyone personal safety is a significant issue, especially

for women. Women are an esteemed part of the society

and play a pivotal role. But most of the society has failed to

realize this reality. One should be in charge of one’s own

destiny. We have to be keen about ourselves and our

surroundings. Women possess a natural gift of subconscious

insight into situations and people; we have to learn to make

complete use of it because this insecurity is our fight. You

can and should be able to defend yourselves in all

circumstances and hence should always be updated on

global awareness. Strong justice laws are definitely needed

as existing ones are inefficient to provide justice and

incompetent to provide punishment to guilty. Trust your

mind and wits. Change in mind-sets of people is imperative.

-Likitha (CSE-A-2/4)

Of late the society has become very unsafe for women. As we turn

on the TV, we see so many cases of women abuse. Equality among

both the genders is relatively better in the urban areas, where the

society is educated. Having said this, women do not feel safe on

the roads, while using the public transport. An incident of ogling

and misbehavior is a common sight on the roads. The condition is

deteriorating with each passing day in the country. A media report

would attract attention and widespread anger, but that vanishes

in a few days. The non-existence of foolproof and strict laws

enables the criminals to roam free in the society. It would take a

generation’s time to bring about change in the society regarding

its outlook towards women. It would mean working from the

grass root level. The society must change its view and behavior

towards women to have a safer society.

-Sravya.P. (CSE-C-2/4)

Safety of women in India has always been a matter of grave concern. One of the main reasons of violence against women is the mentality which deems women inferior to men. There is a dramatic increase in the number of crimes against women. In my opinion, for us to see India as a more flourished nation as envisaged in our Constitution, it is time we realize what is right and what is wrong and act in an integrated manner so that women can be channelized into the mainstream of development and thus contribute to socio-economic prosperity of the nation.

- V.S.Sruthi(IT-B-2/4)

It’s unfortunate that a girl in our country is neither safe inside her mother’s womb nor in the outside world. In this modern era where we think that there is no difference between men and women according to their work field, education and profession, the society forces us to believe that we are totally wrong. Cases of molestation, sexual assault, eve teasing, especially in public transport actually make life tough for women. It’s not only in cities; crimes against women are also on the rise in every nook and corner of our country. The sad reality is that we live in an increasingly violent society in which the fear of doing crime never existed. As long as the mindset of the society does not change, women can never be safe. So it’s time to change the attitude of people who still think women are inferior and soft targets.

-Sankirtana(ECE-C-2/4)

In India even in the 21st century, women cannot step out of their house at any given time, assured of her physical and sexual

safety. Violence against women is often a cycle of abuse that manifests itself in many forms throughout their lives. Even at

the very beginning of her life, a girl may be the target of female infanticide in cultures, where preference for son is prevalent.

During childhood, violence against girls includes forced malnutrition, lack of access to medical care and education, female

genital mutilation, early marriage, and bonded labor. Personal safety has become an issue of importance especially for

women... The society and the government which advices women what to wear, failed to give out a strong message to those

culprits who are involved in violence against women. Today India is listed as 4th dangerous country for women to live in. Is

this is the achievement we gift our motherland? Is this what we are going to gift to our daughters, friends, wives and

mothers? Raise your voice and join hands to curb this menace.

HOLLOW FLASH LIGHT

Ann Makosinski is a 16 year old student who

invented a “battery free flash light”. A free energy

device that is powered by the heat in your hand.

This device works on the principle of

thermoelectric effect. The device consists of

ceramic tiles, LEDs, aluminum tubes and a small

transformer. The thought for this invention struck

her when she visited places where students could

not read as they did not have access to electricity.

SMART TRASH CAN

A Japanese engineer has created a trash can that

moves on its own to catch your trash. Developed

by Minoru Kurata, the device features a wall-

mounted sensor that detects which direction the

trash is coming from. A computer then calculates

the thrown trash's trajectory and moves the

trash can so the item will land inside the can.
