An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work as a Nurse Consultant within our Haematology/Oncology service in NHS Fife. You will be responsible for providing direct advanced clinical care and Specialist Oncology advice.

You will work closely with the Oncologists and senior nursing team in developing SACT services and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will also work closely with colleagues in Edinburgh.

You should be a qualified Nurse with significant Oncology experience with a genuine interest in working with patients undergoing SACT and a keen desire to develop within the service. You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced nurses however we will consider staff with suitable experience of working within this area of practice who have a desire to develop and become a Nurse Consultant. We are seeking a senior charge nurse to lead the team at Whitefield Day Hospital and to contribute to Health and Wellbeing Hub developments in West Fife.

Whitefield Day Hospital offers medical, nursing and rehabilitation services to older people in West Fife and provides clinic-based and day attendance sessions from Monday to Friday, although this may change along with the ongoing developments in West Fife. In addition to leading a close-working team of staff nurses and support workers, you will also have a key contributing role in shaping how community services in West Fife are to be delivered in the near future.

You must be able to demonstrate an excellent track record of leading and managing a team and of managing change. Excellent clinical skills are also a requirement in relation to the provision of existing nursing clinical pathways and future developments.

You will be based in Whitefield Day Hospital but will be required to be on the duty charge nurse rota for the hospital, and to work closely with the downstream wards and other community teams such as Hospital at Home.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Triage Nurse (MHTN) Senior Charge Nurse/Team Leader Band 7. The post holder will be responsible for the continued development, implementation and day to day management of a new mental health triage integration in primary care across Glenrothes and Cowdenbeath HSCP clusters in the first instance.

As part of the new General Medical Services contract, multidisciplinary teams, with specialist first contact mental health nurses, will work within GP practice supporting GPs. These Mental Health Triage Nurse posts are the first phase of a planned 3 year service roll out across all GP practices in Fife. This new service will support GP’s in providing first appointments for patients presenting with mental health issues, utilising specialist clinical knowledge to inform decision making and clinical judgment from initial assessment to care planning and referral on to other services as appropriate, including mental health secondary mental health services.

The Senior Charge Nurse will lead a team of mental health triage nurses, work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries, and hold responsibility to implement and evaluate evidence based standards, guidelines and policies. The SCN will hold continuing responsibility for the standard of care and the effective delivery of the mental health triage nurse integration within primary care settings and for the deployment, supervision and development of the allocated staff. The SCN will provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives.

The successful candidate will be experienced in leading and managing staff, dynamic, self-motivated and a problem solver and can evidence ongoing professional development. They will be expert at communicating across all mediums and have previous experience in service development. You will be expected to provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives and be responsible for the ongoing support and development and performance management of the team. Commitment to multi disciplinary/ partnership team working and active involvement in promoting the integration agenda is essential.

You with be a registered mental health nurse, previous experience working in a primary care setting is desirable. The ability to travel throughout Fife is essential.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate commitment to person centred care and supporting effective team working. The post holder will have 24 hour responsibility for the Department, providing clinical leadership, managing the nursing team and having a pivotal role in driving service improvement.

NHS Fife’s Immunisation Team has a vacancy for a band 7 Team Leader looking to join our innovative, dynamic service. The Immunisation Team is a relatively new team developed in response to national changes within the immunisation programme and also to changes in the direction of focus for Health Visiting, School Nursing and General Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in an NHS service at its infancy.

We are currently recruiting for a Team Leader to work across the Fife wide area, operationally overseeing a large skill mix team as they deliver vaccination programmes within the school environment, the general practice environment and across all Fife communities. The team currently delivers the childhood vaccination programme but is planned to expand into the adult vaccination programme, eventually acquiring responsibility for vaccination delivery across all programmes, age groups and cohorts within NHS Fife.

You should be a first level registered nurse, experience working within the community environment and in particular the field of immunisation, would be an advantage. You should be a motivated, autonomous practitioner, able to integrate and work competently within a skill mix team. You should be able to respond to the physical, mental and emotional challenges of working within a developing service. You should be prepared to work across Fife and within a variety of settings, including the non-traditional health setting. You should be fully committed to your own professional development and ready to undertake specific development required of the role.

It is a developing specialty which offers the opportunity to care for older people who have complex conditions and acute delirium which can be challenging but highly rewarding.

You will also work closely with the operational lead for MSK, Consultant Physiotherapist and the Interim Head of Physiotherapy to shape the strategic direction of the Physiotherapy service in Fife.

In addition to proven leadership and clinical skills, you will be an excellent communicator, have a high level of organisational skills and be able to demonstrate good clinical reasoning. You will be able to work independently using your initiative, but you will also be a motivated team player and have the ability to mentor and motivate others. NHS Fife Procurement Department provides a comprehensive supply chain management service to NHS organisations in Fife.

You will be required to provide an internal supply chain service that includes determining stock levels with ward/department managers and, on a weekly basis, checking stock levels and replenishing stock in accordance with agreed procedures. Applicants should be aware this post involves manual handling on a daily basis, some of which is fairly heavy.

You will also be expected to respond quickly to any sudden changes in ward/department demands. You will organise and co-ordinate all purchase orders, receive all goods and record transactions utilising computers and data capture devices.

You should be educated to School Higher Grade standard or hold an appropriate SVQ, or alternatively have experience of handling goods in a supply chain logistics environment. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Childsmile team. Childsmile is a national oral health programme that aims to improve the oral health of children in Scotland.

To achieve this, our Dental Health Support Workers work closely with parents, dentists, other health professionals and (most importantly) children. It is therefore essential that you possess relevant experience, ideally gained from a health, social care or education setting. Due to the varied nature of the role, you will sometimes work as part of a team or carry out tasks/home visits on your own. We are therefore looking for someone who is comfortable working in both types of environment.

Key to monitoring the success of the Childsmile programme is maintaining accurate and up to date information and therefore you should already have a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.

The Childsmile team work across Fife in a range of health settings, as well as in client homes, so you must be able to travel throughout Fife on a daily basis. Based in Dunfermline or Cowdenbeath, you will often have access to NHS fleet vehicles, although your travel costs are reimbursed if no vehicle is available.

Applications are invited for the four substantive posts listed above. Two of these are replacement posts and two are new posts which are part of the development and redesign of children's services across Fife. 

The successful candidates will join a close-knit team of paediatricians working across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. Child health services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate children’s out-patient department and ambulatory care unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patients services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

The Acute Paediatric post and the Consultant with an interest in CCH would be expected to contribute to the consultant of the week and on call rota (currently 1 in 7.6) at the Victoria Hospital. A separate neonatal rota is in place. The Acute post would include the opportunity to develop a special interest to complement the needs of the department. General paediatrics at Victoria Hospital is a dynamic, well supported and highly regarded service supporting the local population of Fife. You will join an experienced and supportive team of consultants.

We are also seeking Consultant and Specialty Doctor colleagues with experience in all aspects of community paediatrics, as well as the vision and enthusiasm to join our forward-looking team. Specific areas of responsibility may be negotiated according to the interests of the applicant and needs of the department. The integration of services between the hospital and the community is recognised as an essential part of the service.

The FRDU provides a holistic service focusing on early and intensive intervention for patients with rheumatic conditions. There are specialist services for connective tissue disease, inflammatory spinal disease, Psoriatic Arthritis and vasculitis. There are also clinics for Adolescent Rheumatology and a monthly Young Adult Clinic. We have a weekly Virtual Clinic to discuss complex patients who may need biological therapies. There is a 6 monthly combined Ophthalmology / Rheumatology clinic. Day Unit facilities are at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline. There are close links with all Acute services within Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital.

Experience in Rheumatological ultrasound is considered desirable.

This new posts is to support the development of provision of high quality patient care within the ENT Department. It is aimed at clinicians 3 years post registration who wish to broaden their clinical experience and receive excellent training in Emergency Medicine. Senior clinical fellows will work alongside Specialty trainees in ENT from the East of Scotland training rotation. Successful applicants will work at a middle grade level on a rota which provides 24 hour middle grade cover for the department under consultant supervision. The rota will include overnight and weekend work.

The post attracts 10 PAs of which 9 will be Direct Clinical Care and 1 will be for ongoing Continuing Professional Development. These PAs can be used flexibly for ongoing training and development. All senior clinical fellows will be allocated an educational supervisor to support them in their ongoing training and facilitate appropriate training opportunities tailored to the individual’s interests and training needs. Development and maintenance of a portfolio is encouraged.

Senior clinical fellows will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients attending the ENT department, and in supervising and supporting GPSTs in patient management. This will involve work in clinics, theatre and on-call periods. There will be opportunities to develop clinical and theatre experience. There will be opportunities for the Fellow to manage their own clinic and run their own theatres under consultant supervison.

The department is a very well integrated service with the ward and clinics being in one area with the same nursing staff and GPSTs working in both. Our own dedicated theatres are nearby and we have very close links with audiology which also has

The department also has GPSTs and 2 nurse practitioners who manage patients presenting with ear, tonsil and allergy issues. On call will be expected of the Fellow both during the week and weekends with full time consultant cover.

We are currently recruiting Clinical Fellows to join us in delivering high quality medicine to the adult population of Fife, working as part of the existing Acute Medical, Medicine for the Elderly teams.

The posts will rotate through Acute assessment wards and Community Wards and Hospital at Home. The option of on-call on the acute medical rota in the Acute Medical Unit is possible (nights, weekends and long days at GPST/ CT1 level) with flexibility to allow acting up at Medical Registrar level for trainees with appropriate prior experience. It is anticipated that applicants may wish to rotate through two or all of the above posts over 12 months (can be discussed on a case by case basis).

Opportunity and time for delivering teaching and quality improvement is provided, and previous Fellows have achieved national publications/presentations and teaching qualifications /award nominations in these areas during their time with us.

These posts provide the ideal opportunity to gain more experience and hone your CV in a broad range of areas, with previous Fellows successfully being appointed directly into competitive CMT, GPST and ST3 training programmes as a result.

SPECIALTY DOCTOR /LAS IN PAEDIATRICSREF NO: HH505/01/19

Applications are welcome to the above fixed term, 6 months, full time post based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

This is a great opportunity for any junior doctor interested in exploring the possibility of a career in paediatrics or a GPST who has not had the opportunity to participate in a paediatric placement as part of their training scheme to gain experience in paediatrics/neonates in a busy, but well supported, friendly and popular DGH paediatric department.

The successful candidate will join a team of FY2/GPST and Paediatric and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners in contributing to the junior tier rota covering acute paediatrics and neonates. There is a resident middle grade as well as a consultant tier providing the appropriate level of support and supervision.

Acute paediatric services are based in a 26 bed in-patient ward which is integral to the children’s services in the new Victoria Hospital. The ward has a dedicated High Dependency Bay, a separate Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Area (SSPAA) and a ground floor resuscitation room. The SSPAA acts as a focus for acute referrals from GPs, OOH service and ED.

The neonatal unit is a Level III neonatal unit with 14 Special Care cots, 4 intensive care cots and 2 high dependency care cots. There are 3,200 deliveries per year, including high-risk pregnancies, in a consultant-led obstetric unit and an "alongside" midwifery-led unit.

The postholder will have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics (general paediatric as well as a wide variety of subspecialities)

The department has an excellent reputation for teaching (both Edinburgh and Dundee medical students are placed there) and training (ST3-8 paedatric trainees and GPSTs rotate from the SES training programme).

Millhill Surgery is based in the historic town of Dunfermline with easy access to the motorways to Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

We work from purpose built premises. We are looking to recruit a GP to cover maternity leave from the beginning of January 2019 until the end of August 2019. These dates are negotiable and the post has the potential to be extended. The GP going on leave covers 8 sessions per week over 4 days.
