An opportunity has arisen for a professional and driven individual to become a Clinical Nurse Manager within the NHS Fife Emergency Care Directorate. This post is responsible for Respiratory, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and specialist nurses connected to these specialities.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced senior nurse, who is keen to take the next step in their career progression.

A vacancy has arisen in the Special Care Baby Unit at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for a Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Band 7 level to join our team.

We are a Level 3 Special Care Baby Unit, consisting of 4 ITU, 2 High Dependency and 14 Special Care cots. At present we have four fully qualified Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and 2 trainees.

You will be a qualified neonatal nurse with excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of the team. You will be expected to deliver a high standard of care and use a holistic approach to family centred care. You will undertake academic training to become an ANNP and will be supported in your training and in gaining clinical experience in the neonatal unit.

An up to date knowledge of evidence-based practice, and a commitment to learning and the delivery of clinically effective care are essential.

You will be required to work within a multidisciplinary team being accountable for the delivery of highly specialised packages of care. Excellent communication skills and multi-disciplinary working are essential.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to work as a member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team in the delivery of the planned programme for prevention and control of infection across NHS Fife. You will provide specialist knowledge and training in all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control and provide clinical leadership to the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses and Surveillance Team.

You must be an Adult Registered Nurse, with current NMC Registration, be educated to degree or masters level and possess an Infection Control Nursing Qualification or Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. A broad range of clinical experience is desirable, with significant clinical practice as an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse. You will be required to travel between NHS Fife sites. One of the main qualities for this post is the ability to work as part of a team in a challenging health care setting. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential. You should also be able to demonstrate continuing professional development and evidence of post registration qualification / study. This is a permanent full time post worked Monday to Friday with on-call responsibility.

We are looking for a Band 7 Senior Charge Nurse/Clinical Lead to join our busy Operating Theatres suite at the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. You will have theatre experience at a senior level and be able to demonstrate evidence of on-going professional development.

There is a standalone elective orthopaedic suite comprising of 2 theatres, the main theatre suite encompasses 11 theatres and provides services for a number of specialties including Orthopaedic Trauma, ENT, General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, and Maxillofacial, included in this number is a 24/7 Emergency and Obstetric Theatre.

You will along with other SCN/Clinical leads/PODP carry continuing responsibility for the theatre suite ensuring safe, efficient and effective management of the operating theatre with individual specific responsibility for designated clinical specialties. Experience in orthopaedic elective and trauma would be an advantage.

You will provide professional and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, and will share responsible for planning and implementing patient centred care, and setting standards of care within the operating department.You must be Registered with either NMC or HCPC, be educated to degree level or working towards or have an equivalent level of knowledge and skills gained through experience, and be able to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Charge Nurse to join the nursing team of Hollyview ward.

Hollyview is the Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit based in Stratheden hospital and is a new purpose built ward.

You should have substantial experience in the acute mental health inpatient environment, and demonstrate good leadership and communication skills. Excellent organisational skills are essential with the ability to demonstrate clinical and professional competency working within the Multi Disciplinary Team.

You will be joining the Senior Charge Nurse to provide support with the management and development of this IPCU service and the staff within it. You will be expected to hold the duty pager for the whole hospital on a rotational basis and will be the coordinator of the site dealing with any issues which may arise.

Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) has been in Fife for over 25 years. The model has evolved over the years from being focused on physical rehabilitation into a comprehensive, individualised lifestyle programme. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CR Specialist Nurse to join the Fife Community Cardiac Specialist Nurse Service. This role is to support the delivery of the Fife Cardiac Rehabilitation agenda across Fife. The role comprises of undertaking individual clinical risk assessments of people with heart disease (HD) conditions including heart failure, the identification of the most appropriate programmes of CR for individuals and supporting the delivery of rehabilitation. This is done through working in partnership across primary and secondary care, including agencies and organisations outside the NHS to support people with HD conditions in their individual rehabilitation and health behaviour change.

Applications for this post are invited from registered mental health nurses with a wide and varied experience in mental health nursing and preferably able to demonstrate enhanced skills, knowledge and preferably experience of working with marginalised population groups presenting with mental health problems. You will liaise with accommodation providers and mental health services and be the first point of contact for the assessment of people experiencing homelessness. You will facilitate and sustain strong partnership working within health and social care and other statutory and third sector services. The successful applicant will have experience of team working, problem solving, flexibility, high-level communication skills, evidence of continuing personal development, quality improvement and change management. The post holder will have day to day responsibility for managing their workload and the ability to travel throughout Fife. . An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Healthcare Support Worker or experienced Carer to join our Intermediate Care Team in the Integrated Community Assessment and Support Service (ICASS) in West Division.

The Intermediate Care Service provides rehabilitation to the adult population. This service is delivered to service users mainly within their own home. The primary function of this role will be to work closely alongside NHS Fife and Fife Council staff to deliver therapeutic treatment and care programmes to service users living in their own homes, preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge from hospital. Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses and Social Care Staff will provide specialist assessments to this patient group and will provide you with workload allocation, supervision and development.

You will have good organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work independently as well as within the team. You are required to have a minimum of SVQ Level II in Health and Social Care or similar subject.

Working shift patterns to include evening and weekend working will be required. There may be occasions where you will be also be required to work within another ICASS base within the Division. Our service offers regular supervision, PDP and supports training opportunities. The ability to travel throughout the area is essential.

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.

Experience in General Laparoscopic, Benign Upper GI, Benign Hepatobiliary and/or Bariatric Surgery would be especially welcomed. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team and will play a full part in emergency receiving. As a Consultant in this department you will strengthen your general surgery skills, with opportunities to develop your practice according to your specialist interests.  Successful applicants will be based at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, where inpatient surgical wards, dedicated endoscopy unit and a total of 12 theatres are located in a new facility that opened early in 2012. There is a 1:12 General Surgery on call commitment within a dedicated emergency surgical admissions unit. Vascular and Breast surgery are separately covered regionally. All inpatient activity is located at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, while additional Endoscopy, Day Surgery and Outpatient Clinics take place in Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, the Adamson Hospital in Cupar, and St Andrews Community Hospital. The general surgical team performs a full range of advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures, with excellent support from interventional radiology and gastroenterology teams. Collaborative network arrangements are also in place with NHS Lothian for complex UGI & HPB surgery and with NHS Tayside for bariatric surgery, presenting ample opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute. The General Surgery department is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and training. It is affiliated to the Universities of Edinburgh, Dundee and St Andrews. The emphasis will lie with neuro-developmental disorders such as ADHD and ASD. The ADHD part of the post is part of a changed provision of medical input into a well established ADHD pathway. A significant number of young people supported in our service also have ASD with or without other comorbid difficulties, e.g. anxiety or ADHD. The medical supervision is provided by a consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. You will be part of a team of doctors, nurses including nurse prescribers and psychologists. There is no on-call requirement but contributing to emergency response during normal working hours is expected.

The department (Fife CAMHS) includes a core group of experienced and well qualified clinicians from a number of disciplines, including, Psychiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Dietetics and Child Psychotherapy. You will join an established team of four Consultant Psychiatrists, one core trainee and one Higher trainee from the Edinburgh training scheme.

The ADHD provision in Fife is a joint pathway provided by Community Paediatrics, Child Health and CAMHS with a distinction between a Tier 2, where patients are being seen by community paediatricians and Tier 3, which is provided by a specialist team consisting of paediatric nurses, clinical psychologists and psychiatric doctors. The Tier 3 service provides care for young people with complex and or co-morbid ADHD presentations. In addition, some young people with ADHD, who have complex mental health needs, are also seen within the generic Fife CAMH services.

This CAMHS post will be primarily based within the ADHD Tier 3 service (6 sessions) with 3 sessions focussing on wider neuro-developmental disorders and 1 SPA session. The main base will be in West Fife with clinics being delivered in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy.

The establishment in 2005 of the Playfield Institute as a resource for skills development, research and the provision of information, has opened up new opportunities for the successful post holder to receive support for research and engage in a range of training events.

The CAMH Service also provides essential input into specialist assessment clinics for children and young people thought to be on the Autistic Spectrum. You may contribute to this service.

You should have MRCPsych or equivalent paediatric qualification or having gained sufficient experince in working with young people with neurodevelopmental disorders. This post could suit a candidate who is looking to gain their Certificate of Equivalence of Specialist Registration. You will be supported by secretarial and senior medical staff and will have an office base. Weekly supervision will be timetabled and there will be opportunity to provide supervision to nursing and junior

medical staff. Participation in audit and quality improvement activities is supported by the service.

We are seeking to appoint three Obstetrics & Gynaecology Specialty Doctors. The posts will attract 10 PAs per week and will initially be fixed term for one year with the intention to become permanent in the future. The posts are based in the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy but there is likely to be a requirement to work at other sites within Fife, including Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.

You will be expected to undertake a wide range of Obstetrics and Gynaecology care including on call during some weekday nights on call. You will be encouraged to develop a speciality skill and develop an area of responsibility to compliment our services.

We are currently reconfiguring our service so this is an exciting time to join us. The posts provide an opportunity to work in a busy, friendly and innovative department comprising 18 Consultants, with currently 10WTE Specialty Registrars as well as 10 GPST/ FY2 posts.

Successful applicants will be based at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy but are likely to be required to work at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, as well. You will be expected to provide a range of elective and emergency Obstetrics and Gynaecology care.

There will be one resident night per week, with prospective cover, on the middle grade rota with a GPST/FY2 also resident and a consultant on call from home.

As have previous colleagues who have worked with us in this capacity, we would aim to support you should you wish to obtain a CESR and to qualify for the GMC’s specialist register in due course.
